Jon Stewart Mocks CNN Situation Room's Multi Screen Format — With Spongebob?

Huffington Post   First Posted: 3/28/08 Updated: 5/25/11

Jon Stewart Situation Room

Last night on "A Daily Show," Jon Stewart mocked the multi-screen format "The Situation Room." In particular, he commented on the use of one of the six screens to display...Spongebob Square Pants. While presenting the news that John Edwards was dropping out of the race for President. And while Jon once thought that the multi-screen format of "The Situation Room" was stupid, he's now christened it: "a hilarious f*ck-up that never gets old to watch."

... No thread on it..yet, so let me be the first (Woot!): HUGE fistfight earlier this evening, between Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert AND Conan O'Brian, all over "..making Huckabee.." (ooh, that just sounds wrong, doesn't it?) - apparently, this brouhaha started a few weeks ago, and has escalated to tonights showdown! It started on "TDS", continued on "TCR", and just finished a few minutes ago on "Late Night w/ Conan O'Brian"! It was a brutal, nasty, screw-the-Marquis-of-Queensbury-rules, and I yelped with excitement like a nerdy fangrrl! Now, THAT'S entertainment..! ;) ...

Actually, I am betting that that is a shot of Bourbon Street. Tomorrow is Mardi Gras and I'm guessing that CNN thought that nothing says "New Orleans" like a giant costumed dancing person. Unfortunately, they cropped out whatever identified it as Bourbon Street, if that's what it was. If they'd had the smarts to film a rum soaked half naked person covered with throws, everybody would have known what the heck this was about and it would have been a lot less distracting.

Looks like everyone is fed up with CNN these days.

I know I will never tune in again! It's a disgrace and nothing more than a never ending skew against Hillary; with Republican pundits campaigning for Obama.

Obama may be a good candidate - but after putting up with the non-stop media lynching of Hillary - and shameless biased promotion of Obama from Republicans; one must question what and who his backers are and what on earth is going on behind the scenes. Who ever heard of Republicans promoting their opponent??? A real political first don't you think?

Remember Tucker, Wolf?

Better send CNN's advertising squad out for damage control.

This guy can become a very expensive adversary. Maybe even more expensive than six big screen TVs.

The Situation Room = Candy X 6

I like to think of it as the Crowley News Network (CNN)

It's cruel to tease us with the prospect of Wolf Blitzer being replaced by a cleaning implement. We can only hope...

It probably was an unemployed writer.

CNN is getting a more creative group of homeless now in L.A. Here in Palm Beach the homeless just sleep under the Interstate bridges and hold up 'I will work for food" signs.

I think it's good that Jon Stewart points out on a regular basis that there's virtually no real journalism being done in America anymore. If he didn't, the next thing you'd hear would be that pathetic refrain, "America has the best [FILL IN WHATEVER...IN THIS CASE NEWS] in the world. Everybody claps, and nods, and moves on. CNN is so dumbed-down, even a retarded chimp would get bored with it.

Unlike that pompous weenie Anderson Cooper, Stewart really does "keep 'em honest".

Sponge Bob was dancing above the White House so that would suggest it was to represent the current clown in the White House!

Well, if CNN would just replace Beck with Spongebob, that would be a big improvement!

Man...

That CNN is awesome.

I wonder if CNN pays people to play PR against the obvious fact that their coverage has gone downhill ever since they started broadcasting from the gutter.
