In a Super Tuesday interview on "Inside City Hall," Democratic Chairman Howard Dean said he doesn't want the Clinton-Obama race continuing into the party's convention in Denver, saying the candidates should "make some kind of an arrangement" if neither has enough delegates to win the nomination.

Speaking to political anchor Dominic Carter before Tuesday's results were known, Dean predicted the Democrats would "have a nominee sometime in the middle of March or April."

Major problem... a once in a life time chance for either of the candidates to be the FIRST.

First President of Color whoose supporters mandate that their candidate tries to change the way politics are played in our USA

First Female President of an ex impeached President ... sorry couldnt help myself with the dig

No ones going to give ... This MUST be won outright in the primary by either candidate.

But will the superdelegates at the convention decide to subvert the efforts of the movement for change? I have a feeling the fix is already in.

I submit that Billary 08 will cajole or pigeon hole his former party member underlings to "follow your old leader". Loyalty to the party must trump the mandate for change. Besides new and fresh ideas are bad, scarry... The old ways are the best, stay with what we have. Paranoid? Conspiracy? No... If Sen Obama's supporters thinks he was not given a fair playing field to compete on.. these will be some of the talking points.

When that happens.... and I submit that it will. All bets will be off. Does anyone think that these newley registered and independent voters are card carrying "My democratic party right or wrong.. follow me" types? Sen Obama being a Party loyalist will make the plea to his supporters to unite behind Billary 08... my guess is that few will follow...Unless their is an outright primary win.

Btw the republican parties cash machine is getting ready to spew out $250 million for an 08 blitz..

Big fight? I'll tell you what was a very big fight!

We had a war of occupation going on for over
five years and people were getting tired of it.
We had a Democratic heir apparent who was part
of the problem and a anti-war movement under way.
The party insiders stacked the convention and
locked out the backers of a popular candidate.
The people left out on the street carried signs
protesting the war and an elitist government.
The mayor turned his cops loose on the people
gassing, clubbing and with charging horses.
Peaceful protesters, press members and clergy
were shouting THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!!!
It was Chicago 1968 and Hubert Humphrey went on
to lose to an unliked rethuglicon named Nixon.

The only way the Sen. Obama can win the nomination at this point is by winning big through March 3rd, including Ohio and Texas. If he does that, he can claim that he has the momentum and the money to win in Nov. It was very important that Sen. Obama knock Sen. Clinton out on Super Tuesday (esp. in Caly), but that didn't happen. He doesn't have enough SDs to win at the convention, so it would make sense for him to cut a deal. If he goes to the convention and looses, he is done in the Dem party. Just like Sen. McGovern was after 1968.

Damn right there's going to be a big fight- but guess what? The division is because of Dean and the DNC itself. The DNC should have realized a while ago that the only electable candidate was John Edwards- and they should have put all of their resources and support behind him. The result is neither one of the frontrunners- Hillary and Obama- are electable and will alienate the moderate electorate on the fence. And those on the fence will go with McCain. Who would ever have thought it possible- but the R's are going to win in '08. The DNC is a friggin disgrace.

I used to admire Howard Dean because I thought he had stood up against the Democratic establishment. The Democratic primary process has become more democratic, but Howard Dean seems to be washing his hands like Pontius Pilate over the whole thing with this remark.

The Democrats will still be calling each other names while McCain is being sworn in.

Dean and the libs have a lot more to fear if Barry gets more pledged delegates and gets the nomination and Hillary gets more of the popular vote.... Horrors of 2000 when Pres Bush won with more electoral votes and Al had the popular vote.

We should never expect lawyers and politicians to ever agree on anything. Rules? Heck, they make them up, whenever possible to cheat the system.

Dean, as usual, is right. As the chairman of the Democratic party, Dean has an obligation to unite the party behind their nominee. Obviously that would be a problem if there is no single nominee, and a division within the party would only weaken it come election time. United we stand, divided we fall. If Hillary and Barack keep fighting, they could split the party and hand the win to McCain, and no one in the Democratic party would want that.

If neither has enough delegates, they need to come to an arrangement and not promote a "big fight" at the convention (and no, that does not mean, as some have falsely inferred, that one must step down). Furthermore, a fight at the convention could sway some delegates into changing their votes, against what the voters decided, and that would only lead to more problems.

Although I supported Howard Dean for president, I totally disagree with him. A brokered convention might be the best thing for the country. The Democrats could then sober up and nominate Al Gore. Both Hillary and Obama are flawed candidates can beat.

So, will Chairman Dean force one to withdraw, or push for a joint ticket.? Because of age, if nothing else, that would be Clinton/Obama

With Barack Obama as Vice President, we might witness some of the most inspiring tributes ever at funerals for world leaders and other politicians. The worry is that Mr. Obama may be so inspiring that the politician may rise from the dead.

I could not disagree more with Howard Dean whose view I respect.

Let the convention be a real one, with all the uncertainty inherent in a real democracy.

The "we" that Dean talks about is interesting. Maybe "we" are not one party. It's like Mom and Dad are talking about divorce and pretending the kids don't know about it.

Well...is the fix in? Have the good ole boy network of "superdelegates" had a sit down with their former party boss leader and ex impeached president? Remember boys... loyalty to party first!
