Kirsten Dunst Checks Into Rehab

Kirsten Dunst Rehab

The story was broken yesterday:

Kirsten Dunst has checked herself into Cirque Lodge in Utah, Star has learned exclusively.

Spider-Man's Mary Jane made the decision to follow in the footsteps of Cirque patients such as Lindsay Lohan and Richie Sambora -- after a week of wild parties at last month's Sundance Film Festival. Fellow actress Eva Mendes is also in the mountaintop facility right now. Mary-Kate Olsen was treated at Cirque for food issues.

"She desperately needed help," a source in Utah tells Star. "She seemed to be intoxicated when she checked in because she was acting really erratic. She was extremely emotional, constantly breaking down in tears.

People magazine has new details:

"She's not doing well," the source says. "People were pushing her to go in there but there was no intervention... She has been partying hard for a while and I'm sure the Heath Ledger thing put people over the edge."

Adds the source, "She's been crying a lot lately, a lot built up. ...Everybody hits that bottom where you feel [so] scared that that one heavy night of partying can really wake you up. It's good she's getting herself help."

Was it always like this in Hollywood?
Greta Garbo wanted to be alone.Later to discover that
she had developed RA and couldn't shake hands,a
problem I share with her. I think that once you become
too famous, you are no longer thought of as a human
being.No privacy,no dependancy,no weakness,no lovers
and certainly no life as far as your adoring fans are
concerned.Who would want this?

sorry people i don't believe in inherited predispositions to drugs.

and 'dope' isnt the quickest way to lose weight.
dope is either marijuana,..which will make you wanna eat.
or heroine,morpine.
i hate it when OLD people call all drugs dope.
now if you had said speed,meth,coke,crack...well
that would be a weight loss program. yessir

I was planning on becoming addicted, but work and responsibilities got in the way.

If modern Hollywood wants to buy into the whole overplayed "religion is the opiate of the masses" shite - perhaps they should lay off other opiates.

Good luck to her and all. I hope she does well. I think she is terribly overrated, though, both in terms of her talent and her looks. Maybe she will age well. Who knows.

LOVE her!

I'm glad she went voluntarily. She seems like a smart woman who would be the type to take it seriously.

Good luck, Kirsten.

Good luck Kirsten.
Damn she is good looking.

There's something about her that I can't help adore. She seems genuine. Such sad news, I hope she gets the help and support she needs to manage her addiction.

same here- something about her is very almost familial and sweet. She has an intelligence to her acting and I hope she beats it.

yeah, Cirque seems to have worked real well for Lindsay Lohan. Didn't they just let Eva Mendes out to go host some booze gig? Their reputation is going the way of Promises Malibu.

Cirque Lodge, like many "celebrity rehab" facilities, is based on a twelve-step program. According to the article AA Is Not The Only Way, by Melanie Solomon, "The 12-step success rate is approximately 3 percent."
http://www.addictioninfo.org/articles/647/1/AA-Is-Not-The-Only-Way/Page1.html

One of the problems in getting help for an alcohol or drug problem is lack of awareness of the many effective, science-based alternatives to "traditional" 12-Step programs. The Addiction Info site has more than 2000 articles on research and treatment.

Do you suppose Cirque Lodge could send Brittany an engraved invitation. She could room with Kirsten...bring the dog...no papparazzi. Just saying...

While I attended a great University, I studied, worked

and went to parties. Got A grades, promotions at

my job and learned to carry on with the occasional hang-over.

While in the military, I again studied hard, worked

hard and went to parties. Got top grades, promotions,

top assignments and could again carry on with the occasional hang-over.

Hang-overs are supposed to be only every so often

because of the responsibilities we must take care of and do well.

What is with these celebs?

Their parties must never end and their responsibilities never begin because they have so many other people doing their chores.

Seems like a very empty kind of lifestyle.

Wow. I've never seen someone try to ingratiate himself so much to people he doesn't know. It's funny that you just had to mention that you went to a 'great' university. Who cares? And you were in the military. NIce plug for yourself. How does that help prove your point? And you got top grades and promotions. I'm impressed. Of course when I was in the military (and this isn't a shameless plug for myself for the benefit of these anonymous Huffposters, just making a point) drinking was a necessary part of social networking and promotions. And so what if you were able to party and drink and shake off a few hangovers? Maybe these people in the articles are actually struggling and they may have a disease called addiction and you might not have it. Get over yourself. Different people have all sorts of different kinds of problems. You, my friend, have a serious problem called egomania. I wonder if Cirque Lodge will help you with that.

Sorry to have offended you.

I am questioning the constant partying noted in the article. ....."after a week of wild parties..........."

Most of us know how to balance work, responsibilities,
and the occasional party. We do not have the luxury of checking into a Rehab Lodge.

You must not be aware of the numerous recent articles about celebrities using rehab as escapes from taking responsibility for their actions and not for recovery.

Kudos for all those battling true addictions. They are not included in my post and most would understand
that.

Sorry you did not.
