Ashcroft: Bush Is "Most Respectful Ever" Of Civil Liberties

Ashcroft

Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft on Saturday defended President George W. Bush's electronic surveillance program, saying it was far less intrusive than similar surveillance in World Wars I and II.

Bush has been using security measures to protect freedoms, not to curb freedom, Ashcroft said in a speech to hundreds of Missouri Republicans attending the party's statewide Lincoln Days festivities this weekend.

"The president of the United States has been among the most respectful of all leaders ever engaged in the responsibility of fighting for freedom,'' Ashcroft said, and has been "most respectful in terms of respecting the civil liberties and rights of individuals while engaged in the important task of fighting for freedom."

Come on, Mr. US Attorney General Ashcroft, we want the gossip from you. We Want to hear how you felt when Alberto came to pay you a visit at the hospital. We want to know about the CIA torture engagement - did you approve it? Do you condemn it now?

Other than that, we already made up our minds about Bush, and you do not have the ethical or moral authority to sway us from it.

If only one of these guys was capable of being honest? Are we a generation who describes integrity as unadulterated obsequience to someone in authority?

Ashcroft is talking-nobody believes him. Bush also turned Gonzales into another unethical person
01:15 PM on 02/11/2008
Quite right! There is a lot of truth available in Ashcroft's words ... as long as we remember that the most deceitful Administration in our lifetimes is afflected with Orwellzheimer's:

* The Clean Water Act: Which removes restrictions on polluters
* The Save our Forests Act: Which provides carte blanche to the timber industry.
* The Patriot Act: Which restricts civil liberties and undermines our very Constitution
* Tax Cuts: Run a tab which will never be paid ... by the current pols. As long as we don't accurately identify them as what they are -- Tax DEFERRALS -- we'll be fine.
* Bin Laden -- Dead or Alive: We'll ignore him until we need propaganda for the masses, and invade unrealted countries, in the meantime.
* Iraq -- We invaded because of WMD ... er, I mean: 9/11 ... er, I mean: to remove Saddam ... er, I mean: to limit Iran's influence ... er, I mean ...

See? You don't even need a Kaptain Konservative Decoder Ring! Just take the exact OPPOSITE of everything they say, and you will have the Truth.

Hillarious.

Orwllzheimer's is not getting the main stream media it deserves.

The Conservative coalition meeting last week was an example of how bad this condition is getting, and spreading.

Bush's approval rating is at 30% how it increases from 24% i don't know he predicted that it would be 45% when he leaves office maybe he appointed a known Orwellheimer's patient in charge.

who knows

Bush didn't turn anybody he hired them as is, unethical.

Ive been thinking over this statement for a while now. He is completely right, but because hes focused one a single tree hes missed the forest. The internment of Japanese's Americans during WW2 The confiscation of German owned businesses during WWI. Lincoln declaring Martial Law. Yet these were FINITE struggles for our own survival. Against opponents of significant strength. If you cant secure Independence you cant secure Liberty. Yet as soon as they were over, they were no longer needed. The current debacle is infinite Bush is asking us to live the rest of our lives with out freedom. Patrick Henry said "Give me liberty of give me death!" If liberty is unavailable infinitely then it is more appropriate to compare it to failed policies such as McCarthyism and The Reconstruction. This is not the second world war with 72 million dead around 3.7% of the worlds population. While the threat posed by Bin Ladin is real, it is not comparable to the threat to our extinction as a nation and a people that the second world war posed.

We extinguished Hitler. We bankrupted The Soviet Union. And now our country is turning into a gross parody of both failed ideas. All under the watchful eyes of a Republican President and a Democratic Congress. An inconvenient fact.

Democrats give the illusion of change, Republicans play dissent. Between the two, voters are bounced like a rubber ball. Intentionally. So you don't think. Meanwhile, both parties sell you a pack of well co-ordinated lies.

Not only is fear a control, confusion is to. And both parties, "The Party", do a good job. Both are nothing more than propaganda shilled up as "opposition parties". And voters fall for this scam since it was first invented who knows how long ago. Divide and conquer. That is how The Party owns America.

Divide your enemies (the American public) to better rule and rob them. The Party.
