GOP Walk Out To Protest Contempt Vote

The Hill:

House Republicans Thursday left the chamber ahead of a vote seeking to hold White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify before a panel investigating the firing of several United States attorneys.

The move was intended to show that Republicans want to work on a permanent update to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act rather than be part of a "partisan fishing expedition," as House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) put it.

The GOP used to hold the Rule of Law as a foundational principle, not something to hold in contempt.

The neo-cons have thoroughly corrupted and destroyed the GOP to the point where they have driven out any person with integrity.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

But that presumes a conscience and integrity, or which they so clearly have neither.

The only other person besides Rockefeller to know about the telecom spying??) -well the news just announced she just ordered Conyers to work a compromise out with Rockefellers' Senate bill. Just like Bush told her to do.

I hope you Californians have found her replacement. We just knocked out a Bush panderer in Maryland, we can do it in California too.

So the big moneyed interests collude with a lawless president to trample the rights of the American People, and the DEM Speaker of the House Pelosi "orders" John Conyers, one of the few DEM leaders with the courage to take on the corruption, to force the American People to bend over again for the lawless thugs that have bought our government with their dirty money.

If Californians don't boot Nancy a.s.a.p., the rest of us in the other 49 will do it for them. There WILL be a new speaker in '08 or sooner, and then Nancy can go back home. Boot every traitor in '08, GOP or DEM. Enough is enough.

I think the dems did threaten this same act a few years back, and the rethugs have a field day condemning them with every spin mister at their disposal. From politicians to the bottom feeders like Rush, they called them everything from unamerican and unpatriotic to a disgrace. And that was just for thinking about walking out.

Of course your correct. This should have been the Democratic leadership's stance every time the GOP tried to ram something through without adequate debate or considering compromises. This demonstrates the GOP's unwillingness to compromise. What's astonishing is Democratic leadership's unwillingness or inability to comprehend this simply truth. As far as I'm concerned, the GOP can walk out and with any luck they will stay out.
