Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera posed for dueling magazine covers with new son Max Liron, born January . She's on People in the US and Hello! in the UK. The songstress told Hello! she was too scared of tearing to give birth naturally. She had a C-section on January 12 and recently made her first appearance at a DVD signing and hit an art opening.

She told Hello!, "I'd heard horror stories about tearing. I really wanted a calm and peaceful environment. I didn't want any surprises."

Unlike her qualms, husband Jordan Bratman was great. Aguilera told the mag, "Jordan wasn't squeamish at all. He had the video camera ready to go."

She added: "The most reassuring thing for me was hearing that first beautiful cry. I just welled up with tears.

"We can't stop staring at him. We study him, he studies us back. It's just an unbelievable experience, the whole journey. It's just a beautiful time in our lives."

Aguilera, who gave birth at 37 weeks, also said, "The hardest part was deciding on his birthday. I wanted to leave it up to fate, but at the same time I was ready to be done early!"

Aguilera has also revealed Max had a bris. Bratman is Jewish, Aguilera is not.

Congrats to them on the birth of their child. And the photo of the baby sleeping on her chest didnt bring thoughts of perversion, but thoughts of how wonderful it was when each of my kids were born, and I would have them resting on my chest while they slept. Sure, Im the Dad, so I guess I'll get ridiculed for admitting anything like this, but I dont care. Its such a feeling of love , the likes of which you can never forget. Your child , cuddled to you. If they could synthesis that feeling, it would sell better than crack.

At least the baby isn't synthetic like his mama.

I had heard the real reason why many of these celebrity C-sections are scheduled on the early side is to avoid any last minute stretch marks that wind up popping out during that last couple of weeks --- because well, babies gain and grow during that time even as the skin is stretched to its limit.

I live in Los Angeles and my OB said that many of his celeb patients are afraid of losing vaginal tone by delivering naturally. I thought he was kidding but he swore that was a major concern.

In the immortal words of O'Neill, from the classic comedy movie 'Bachelor Party', starring Tom Hanks -&- Adrian Zmed:

"If I was that kid, I'd breast feed until
I was 17 or 18!"

Christina's hubby ... lucky bastard!

***Congrats to Christina and family on their new addition to the family. ***

Ladies, its simple, if you don't want to have a kid, keep your legs together. Whining I don't want to push, don't want to tear, don't want to have a body after that had a kid. Please. Prima donnas, You get knocked up, its going to hurt no matter how you cut it. You can't have a kid without a little pain. The thing is this, what you get for it, is incredible. Deal or stay on birthcontrol and keep em together.

It is a pity that Britney has not followed the Cristina´s example. Both could be young mothers and with a happy family. :-)

Good grief. Can we please fast forward to a point in time where women are free to make their own sexual, reproductive, birthing, and child-rearing decisions without being subject to the scrutiny and idiotic comments of others who have no business putting their noses in somebody else's birth canal?

its take alot longer to heal

I agree we should not tell people how to have children -- but a C-section right at 37 weeks for no medical cause is, in my opinion, irresponsible obstetrics. I don't fault Christina -- I question her doctor's judgment. My best friend had a baby at 37 weeks that turned out to be much younger than originally thought. She wasn't certain of her last missed period date and the due date was based on the baby's size as calculated by ultrasound. It was a large baby -- but not as old as they thought by an estimated 2 weeks. Preemie lung troubles and developmental delays are no picnic.

The hubris of taking a baby three weeks early when maybe it needed even 4 more weeks and not even considering those 3 or 4 weeks had some essential purposes, that nature knows what it is doing. It is like we thought we could put an extra hydorgen in liquid oil and no problems. Or take all the nutrition out of wheat and then put back only the few things we understood. Or that almost doubling the atmosphere carbon would be ok. Or that we could manufacture baby milk without considering it took billions of years to perfect breast milk and maybe there were some things we didn't understand.
Let's hear it for vanity!

The baby wasn't delivered three weeks early. He was born at 37 weeks. That would be 9 months and 1 week. He should be fine.

The "standard" length of pregnancy is 40 weeks (and an average month has 4.3 weeks, not 4). Babies are considered preterm up until 37 weeks, full-term afterwards, but this baby was still born at the very early end of the range. I'm sure Max will be fine, but if I were picking a due date, I'd choose one that's a little farther along, to make sure lung development and all those nice things had as much time as possible.

I won't even get into the foolishness of not wanting to push or tear and scheduling your c-section three weeks early, but you probably shouldn't have kids if you like to mantain a calm, peaceful environment with no surprises. Good luck with motherhood!!!

Yawn, people ragging on celebrities.

How old. How boring.

Lass had a healthy kid, be happy for her....even if she does have one incredibly ugly and undeserving husband. >:o

I usually don't make a big deal of disagreeing with someone else's personal opinions or beliefs on this site, but what you said was intolerable. Your comments were antisemitic and offensive. I hope that you didn't mean it that way, but that is definitely how it came across to me.

yeah, more worried about tearing then the baby's health.. the process of going out a birth canal is often what stimulates a baby to take the first breaths, squeezes liquid of of the lungs etc..
Yeah like a 5 inch scar, and not being able to lift her own baby for the first 2 weeks was so worth it... Its called an apesiotomy.. they cut you, stitch you, and its proven tears heal about the same as a cut...

There is no way I could ever choose a cut through muscle tissue being better than a torn crotch!!

i had a c section, and id take that to a vaginal birth any day. mine was an emergency c section, but before that i had begged my doctors to give me one and they kept telling me they couldn't without a reason cuz with my first baby. 37 weeks is considered full term, and if planning a c section the doctor tries to schedule it so you won't spontaneously go into labor before the scheduled date. also, after a c section you aren't supposed to lift anything heavier than your baby, but you can still lift your baby, i don't know where you got that information from. also, many women experience incontinence (inability to hold their urine) after a vaginal birth, and the last thing i would want is stitches between my vagina and anus. the c section scar is barely noticeable, and very low so i could still wear a bikini if i wanted to. and its spelled episiotomy. i wanted a c section because i like my lady bits just the way they are. even though they wouldn't give me one by choice, they ended up needing to do one anyway, so everything worked out.

Yah, I wanted to know that. Y'know, some things really are best kept private. A testimony to Arianna Huffington's editorial skills.
