MSNBC News:

Continuing his swing through eastern Texas last night, Bill Clinton continued to slam Obama's discounting of "fights" of the past, even saying that Obama's argument can be blamed for the elimination of Democratic candidates who have already dropped out of the race....

..."It has already taken four candidates out, four good candidates out," he said. "And it would have taken Hillary out if she didn't have so much grassroots support and so much guts in the face of a lot of what has happened here. "

Politics is not like a regular job interview. It's much more like an audition, or even (horribly) like a reality show with elimination rounds. The fact is that you cannot *do* the job if you don't *get* the job. Period. And she cannot get the job.

You can get as mad as you want to about that, you can have a temper tantrum if you like, but no matter how great you think she'd be as a President, she has to be a candidate first, and she is doing a lousy job as a candidate.

Bill Clinton should look to himself for Monica-gate and the way he let the Democratic party fall to the wolves, Bush-Cheney.

Richardson was the biggest dud. I gave money to his campaign early on. He made stupid mistakes. My personal favorite was thinking being gay is a choice. Biden could never get elected. Nor could Dodd, as smart as he is.

Bill is mad because his wife is so lackluster and so unlikeable. I love when she does her "Are We Ready To Take Back America?" thing. It's so phony.

Had Bill had a clean record, it would have helped Gore win by a much bigger margain. Anyone with a brain knows that if Clinton was able to campaign, the election results in 2000 would have much different and we would not be in the horrible state we are in.

I can do without Bill Clinton and his red face and temper on the campaign trail. Did you see him almost strike the face of the Obama supporter the other night who suggested that Hillary withdraw after 3/4. He doesn't act Presidential and has ruined Hillary's campaign. Who wants this loser roaming around the White House, not to mention going internationally, talking like a bitter, old, maybe drunk man.

I have many friends who had teen age children in the 90's who switched political parties because of Bill and his "definition" of sex.

He should just disappear until the nominee is announced. He helps no one and gives the Republicans more to talk about.

I know that I am supposed to be "over" the fact that Obama has only three years experience at the Federal level (one of which he was campaigning the whole time-38 percent absentee rate in 2007 is not really showing up for the job)...but I am not.
I was really looking forward to a Clinton-Edwards-Dodd-Biden-Richardson showdown for the nominee but that never happened. I remember in a career development seminar I attended as an undergrad, the speaker told up that applying to jobs for which we grossly lacked the experience was a waste of time...it was better to apply to jobs for which we were suited or for which we almost met the qualifications. Why then, apparently, is the presidency of the US an exception!? I was for HRC from the start, but I could have enthusiastically supported any of the others. Obama is just not qualified and if he gets the nods, McCain will drive home that point until it sticks.
02:55 PM on 02/19/2008
The only three candidates that you listed that have more "actual" experience than Obama are Biden-Dodd-Richardson. John had six years in the US Senate. Hillary is in her second term. It is amazing how Obama's experience as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, Constitutional Law Professor, President of Harvard Law Review is discounted, but similar experience by Hillary and John is left in their resumes. Heck Hillary's resume goes back to when she was in college. The fact is that neither one of them including McCain has any Executive experience. For the first time since 1960 we will be electing a Senator as POTUS. Is there some kind of hidden racism going on here?
03:39 PM on 02/19/2008
"...it was better to apply to jobs for which we were suited or for which we almost met the qualifications."

How do you define qualification? Right degree, right on the job training, hands-on-experience, life-long learning, right IQ?

I think you missed the point, buddy. OBAMA IS MORE QUALIFIED FOR THE PRESIDENCY THAN HILLARY CLINTON. Drive it into your thick skull.
02:31 PM on 02/19/2008
We just might see a scorched earth policy, where it is win or else, consequences be damned! A surefire way to get McCain elected, and a surefire way to keep our troops in Iraq for another 4 or 8 years.

Professor says if experience counts, Hillary should vote for McCain

David Davenport is a former president of Pepperdine University, where he still teaches public policy, and a research fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

He's bemused by Hillary Clinton's argument that she deserves the Democratic presidential nomination because she's so much more experienced than Barack Obama.

"Hillary Clinton says experience counts, but what is her experience, really?" he says in this short audio commentary for Townhall.com.

"Eight years in the U.S. Senate (compared to four for Obama and 22 for McCain) and eight years as the first lady.

"I asked my wife, who was close by when I served as a university president for 15 years, whether she felt prepared now to run a college.
She correctly said, 'No.' "

If experience really counts, he concludes, "look for John McCain to be our next president.

The Clintons have certainly been a busy couple this week. Hurling the negatives at Obama. I guess negative campaigning was not one of the changes Hillary had worked on over the past 35 years.
03:25 PM on 02/18/2008
I couldn't agree more. Bill has gone the way of a punch-drunk boxer: non-sensical mutterings and bizzare gesturing, ready to confront all comers. He's truly become a mockery of the once grand-spokesman. NF
04:49 PM on 02/18/2008
I think Bill Clinton is right...I was embarrassed when Obama talked negative in the debates. Poor Hillary had to get Obama back on track a couple of times. I will NEVER vote for Obama...and a lot of other people that say that debate said the same thing.
When Hillary did address Obama's baseless accusations at the next debate..I was proud of her! I've seen enough of Obama to last a lifetime. He specializes on whining and dividing the Democratic party. I will never understand Ted Kennedy or Kerry...both have lost a lot of support in my area!

It saddens me greatly to see one of the best Presidents this country has ever seen, stoop so low in an effort to promote his wife's candidacy.

His legacy as POTUS will stand forever. But in the eyes of myself and many that once felt the way I did, he has permanently lowered his stature.

Stop being so dramatic and pay attention to the news, not spin and cable talking heads.

Honestly, he's trashing that legacy daily now. He's just become an incredible liability. The more he opens his mouth the more people realize they don't want Clintons back in the WH.

Hillary gets 90% of voters who say that experience is the most important quality they are looking for in a candidate.

You guys are making a bunch of hooey over notion.

The point Bill is making is that a vote for Obama is a blind leap of faith.

That's been the message all along.

I suppose that you can back that 90% claim with a link to the statistic, yes?

The point Bill is making with a lot of people on the fence is that they don't like the way he has been attacking Obama.

So much so that concerned people in his own party demanded that he dial it down.

He's chasing people away from Hillary.

No kidding. This w/e he spoke out loud into a microphone:

Obama is the only candidate that can beat the 'experienced' candidate.

Did he not know the microphone was on???

Obama as the Democratic nominee will ensure McCain in November....

You're delusional.
10:50 AM on 02/18/2008
Yesterday, two talk shows in LA ran call-in stories against Obama. One was by a fairly popular AA host, and his topic was are the Obama nuts bugging you, too? Caller after caller dialed in to share their war story of how the Obama supporters are strong-arming people and generally making this election scary.

The other show was regarding Obama's speeches. The host reported that he can't find any real content in them. Caller after caller reported that he's not much more than an empty suit.

Bill's comments nail it. It's the advantage of the newcomer who has no past, doesn't really say much, to become this type of figure who can parlay that into a religious cult of personality.

Scary as heck, given we have some very substantive problems to address in our country.
10:53 AM on 02/18/2008
Annin-

Bill endorsed Obama this week end as the only candidate that can beat 'experience'. Read the article. I think the jig is up.
11:10 AM on 02/18/2008
I read it. It's quite obvious that they are in an hot contest. He didn't have to say that for the public to know it. LOL*

Obama is the frontrunner. We get it.

"...parlay that into a religious cult of personality."

********************************************

A candidate is met with enthusiasm not seen for decades, and the Hillary backers label it a "cult", and keep repeating the word in the style of the worst Republican attack machine.

This choice of negative labeling is just one more sign that Hil's campaign is struggling and so desperate that they'd stoop to sleaze in order to win.

Obama and his campaign are above that.

The Clintons have demonstrated clearly that they are not.

It is one of the primary things that swung my final decision on who to support.

Btw, Ann...These kinds of posts on Super Tuesday didn't win Hillary any fans either.:

And I, for one, am so flipping happy that's the real deal.
You lose.

I want to see and hear Obama answer some questions. Now before the primaries vote. He has gamed the system using caucus states to rack up delegates. It is time for real democrats to see and hear him answer these kind of questions. If he isn't a con man - let him speak!!
10:48 AM on 02/18/2008
That is exactly right Bill.

Keep on telling them how Obama actually "swiftboated" all the canidates with his anti-experience stance, "politics as usual" slogans.
10:40 AM on 02/18/2008
Bill Bill Bill...

Shouldn't your line have been:

'My wife Hillary is so good she has already taken care of the 4 most experienced Dem contenders and now there is one more to go'.

Oh NO: What you decide to say (because there is no doubt you don't want her anywhere near the WH)is 'Obama is so good he has taken care of the 4 most experienced candidates, one more to go-my wife'.

Excellent Bill, way to paint Hillary as a wimp that has had zero effect on the primaries. Is this your way of saying that Obama is the only candidate that can take take out candidates with experience? Because that is what you said.

If that is the case then is this your endorsement of Obama???? I think it is.

We all know that McCain has 109 years of experience to Hillary's 35 years of experience.

If Hillary couldn't beat the other 4 'very experienced' Dems that Obama did beat, well then she can not be our candidate to go beat up Uncle Fester. Obviously.

So either experience doesn't matter or Hillary's experience doesn't matter.

Gee Bill, we always knew Obama was the candidate to go up against the Grumpy Old Man not Hillary. We just didn't know (although we suspected all along) that you were for Obama!

Welcome aboard, get to the back of the bus with Chelsea and keep your mouth shut. No offense but you are saying a whole lot of stupid shit lately.
10:39 AM on 02/18/2008
Jayhome I did not hear you complain when Hillary copied the best parts of Edwards HEALTHCARE PLAN (who put it out in March) and Obama's (who put it out in May) healthcare plan and made it her own.

Hillary Clinton has consistently followed Edwards and Obama’s lead..

By the way Hillary put her plan out in September.
04:58 PM on 02/18/2008
Obama never HAD universal health care until February...lol so I would say OBAMA copied HILLARY's UNIVERSAL health care. Obama uses his debate time foolishly. He is a shady character.
