Judge to Settle McCartney Divorce

LONDON — Paul McCartney and Heather Mills' weeklong divorce hearing ended Monday without a deal, and a judge will now impose a settlement on the warring couple.

As legal teams left court, McCartney's lawyer Nicholas Mostyn told reporters that judge Hugh Bennett had reserved his ruling. The judge will now spend several weeks working out a settlement.

Mills and McCartney separated in 2006 after four years of marriage. They went to court to decide on Mills' share of the former Beatle's fortune, which is estimated at as much as $1.6 billion.

Mills, 40, smiled as she left London's Royal Courts of Justice with her entourage. McCartney, 65, did not attend, although he was in court to face his estranged wife every day last week.

Media reports have suggested McCartney offered his wife around S$50 million and that she was seeking at least double that amount.

Few details have emerged from Court 34 since the hearing began Feb. 11. Unlike most British court cases, divorce proceedings are heard in private, and the courtroom is closed to journalists and the public.

The terms of a settlement will not become public unless it is challenged in the Court of Appeal, or one of the parties chooses to reveal details.

Mills is a former model whose left leg was amputated below the knee after a motorcycle accident in 1993. She became active in campaigning against land mines and in favor of animal welfare.

The couple married in June 2002 _ four years after the death of McCartney's first wife, Linda _ and their daughter Beatrice was born in October the following year. They announced their separation in 2006, and McCartney filed for divorce alleging "unreasonable behavior" by his wife.

Her father gave an interview and said that Heather will leave England when this is all over. He said she is thinking about The US or France. I think she should go to France. Her neighbors in the US would wake her every morning blarring Beatles tunes

She should get $1000 for everytime they had sex (a reasonable rate for a high priced call girl) and Paul should get the child (mommy is a call girl and will not be a good influence on a little girl) and Heather should get a one way ticket to France.

She is making a BIG mistake not taking that deal. When a fantastic deal is offered and not taken, that becomes the ceiling, not the floor. She could end up with a little money, a gag order, and maintenance for Bea. If she violates the gag order, there goes the baby and the child maintenance. Paul will end up the winner in this. Hey, look we don't even know how much he will continue to pay for the child support (did she get an inflation factor for that, if not, I would suggest that he offer it) for Baby Bea, let alone any other assets (such as a beach house that he put in her name) he has already given to her.

I am sure she is not hurting even know and hope that he has kept her paws out of his pocket since the split up.... although it would be interesting to know how much she has spent since then...

Oh, there is no doubt that there will be a payout but I am surprised that she could want more than the specified amount (considering how we don't exactly know what that amount is really). She truly is a "piece of work". I hope she only gets maintenance for Bea and security and nothing else. She hasn't contributed much to his life and it sounds like she may get even less than what was offered. Lucky her??!!!

Paul McCartney earned his fortune with talent, work, inspiration, luck, and energy. Heather Mills earned the $100,000,000 she seeks with... uh... by... uh... well, she... uh. To Hell with her... she got to live like a queen, got to cohabit and sleep with one of the best loved brilliant creators in history, and somehow this earns her a vast fortune. I hope the judge measures how much of the fortune Paul earned and how much of the fortune Mills earned and then gives her the proper share... about a buck and a half, I would guess.
