The cost of low-end iPods just got cheaper.
Apple Inc. yesterday cut the cost of its entry-level portable music player, the Shuffle, by 38 percent to $49 for a player with 1 gigabyte of storage capacity. It also announced a new 2 GB Shuffle for $69 that will be available later this month.
Apple previously was charging $79 for the 1 GB version.
The new Shuffles come as the company is moving to create more buying options.
