New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a key superdelegate in the U.S. presidential contest, said he would decide this week whether endorse a Democratic candidate.

Richardson, himself an early candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, remained on the fence for endorsing a particular candidate. But, in an interview with The Albuquerque Journal, Richardson said, "I'm going to decide whether to endorse certainly this week."

Mr. Richardson it may appear to a majority of people that Obama is the front runner. I have thought from the beginning that you and Hillary Clinton would make a great team. Please put your support with her and hopefully you could be the next V.P.

What's the deal with dropping out of a race and growing a beard? Is this a new Democrat tradition? (You'll recall that Gore grew three or four whiskers and attempted some sort of patehtic beard combover after he dropped out.)

I like the man but Bill Richardson's interview on CNN was quite weird, he basically auditioned for the VP job. I doubt that "Pick me, pick me!" is the most promising approach...

Richardson was my 2nd bet, Kucinich my first.
Both of them had something more substantially to offer than the ones remaining on ballot now.
You expect change, nothing will change much with those two now and it is your own fault.
Perhaps by 2012 this country will wake up from the slumber being duped into thinking America
is a great place.

Mike Gravel is still running. Not my favorite, but at least he's a progressive.

And I voted for him as the only genuinely progressive, non-DLC Democrat left in the race for the California primary.

I supported Kucinich, then Edwards, then voted for Gravel, and now I'll hold my nose and vote for Obama. Sigh...

It's still better than McCain and the neoconservatives holding onto crumbs of power.

Congressional hopefuls ride the Obama wave

Democrats in some of the unlikeliest places are looking forward to running on a ticket with his name on the top line.

Folks - He was Secretary of Energy under Bill Clinton, UN Ambassador under Bill Clinton. He is long time friends with the Clintons.

Doesn't his silence speak volumes? If he was honestly going to endorse Hillary Clinton - wouldn't he have done it by now. Obviously, he is torn between his friendship with Bill Clinton and his opinion that Obama should be the Democratic nominee.

He's going to decide whether to decide? Wow, what a story. Wake me when he makes up his mind. (Same for Edwards.)

Gov. Richardson is just being coy. Probably waiting to see which of the two candidates offer the more prestigious position. He's certainly sitting in the catbird seat.

Bill Richardson ... still desperately trying to remain relevant.

Richardson hasn't endorse yet not because he wants something or trying to protect something but because he may feel that he might be able to play the role of mediator. Remember Richardson has negotiated the freedom for American Hostages so he might be able to help the Democratic Party here. I don't think he will endorse Clinton, the only move is to endorse Obama. An endorsement form him for Obama would be a subtle hint to the Clinton's that this is over and its time to put the gloves away. If he doesn't endorse anyone, he is waiting until the end to try and help mend the party way before the convention. There is no upside to endorsing Hillary at this point.

He was angling early on for the No. 2 spot in the Billary administration. So I expect he'll endorse them, even if it dings him politically, in a long-shot bid for Veepdom.

Well...ok. But will he shave by Thursday? Or is he auditioning for a bad guy role in a movie?

He would be a great VP for Obama. Richardson was my top pick for the Democrats. I am quite surprised that Hillary hasn't won it yet.

There's no doubt that, horse race aside, Richardson would endorse the Clintons. But endorsing a candidate days before they lose is not good for one's political career.

My guess: if Clinton can stop the bleeding and keep some daylight between herself and Obama in the OH and TX polls by Friday, then he may endorse Clinton, but if Obama continues to pull even or pull ahead in the polls, then he won't endorse at all.

A Hillary endorsement now would be a huge mistake for Richardson.

If he believes Hillary is the candidate that is best... great! But, make that announcement a few weeks ago. Waiting until she is losing to do it brings up lots of questions as to why. Endorsing the candidate who is trailing this late into the game means he is helping promote chaos in the party after sitting out the fight. A Hillary endorsement weeks ago was honorable. Now it is not.

Richardson needs to endorse Obama in order to drive the final stake thru the heart of Hillary's campaign. Hillary is classless, shameless, and has no dignity whatsoever. No lie is too big or too small for Hillary to tell. She'll say or do anything to win. She is the quintesential gutter politician.

Hillary needs to swept into the wastebasket of history!

Talk about stake thru the heart. WOW. Dodd raises money from the likes of Health Net executives. Boy oh Boy (no pun intended) Obama's health care plan is going to be a whopper- I bet Dodd can't wait to bring his buddies to the table. Just like Obama did with Exelon. www.politicalamnesia.blogspot.com

Ah, thank you "King" Richard for telling us your

decision. We have been waiting for so long.

Then again you were busy counting the

thousands of votes caste in your state. Why did it take

you almost two weeks to complete the counting?

Even your beard can't hide your EGO!

Indeed, kudos to Richardson for growing a beard.

You don't have to wait until Friday. Richardson will endorse Hillary Clinton. He came to that conclusion after the Superbowl week-end with Bill. You read it here first.
