Clinton Rejects Supporter's Comments About Obama's Race

Dallas Morning News:

Hillary Rodham Clinton rejected comments Wednesday from one of her supporters, Dallas Hispanic leader Adelfa Callejo, who said that black politicians have done little for Hispanics and that Barack Obama "simply has a problem that he happens to be black."

Mrs. Callejo, 84, made the comments in an earlier interview with KTVT-TV (Channel 11), and Mrs. Clinton, interviewed by the same station, initially declined to reject her support.

Interesting, she made a such a big deal about rejection versus denouncing the other night, took her an entire day for her to do her rejecting and denouncing.

She rejected, yes. BUT, did she renounce, denounce and pounce? Did she deny and resist? Did she challenge and scold? Did she mention anything about "shame on you" or anything like that?

I think she ought to go back and do it again until she gets it right. Reject and denounce - sure. That's easy. But also renounce and pounce. That's what a REAL candidate would do!

Whether you agree with her or not, old lady Callejo is being honest about her feelings and beliefs in regards to the rift between blacks and Hispanics; and that is more than I can say about a lot of people out there. Most people, like Obama for instance, are trying to gloss over the facts or pretend that they don't exist.

As a person of hispanic desent many hispanics from Cuba, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Columbia, Venezula etc. are of afriracn desent and there is not a problem. Callejo is Mexican and does not speak for hispanics and I am tired of being lumped in with them.

I agree with you Chronic. I worry about the right-wing's attacks on Senator Obama's patriotism and the whisper campaign they're assembling against him and his family.
