Fran Drescher Mocked For Breaking Into Spanish On Larry King

Fran Drescher Mocked For Breaking Into Spanish On Larry King

  |   March 1, 2008 11:05 AM

On "Larry King Live" Friday night, during a political round table on the presidential race, Fran Drescher displayed her support of Hillary Clinton by breaking out some rather questionable and inelegant Spanish, which led Larry King to ask the former star of TV-series "The Nanny", "What are you doing?"

I have yet to hear one translation of what she said. I watched her say it , but I don't speak spanish.
Will some one tell me what she said!

I THOUGHT LARRY KING AND THE REST OF THAT PANEL WERE EXTREMELY RUDE TO FRANNY. LARRY KING IS WAY PAST HIS TIME ON TV. THE MAN HAS MAJOR BRAIN FARTS. TIME TO RETIRE. HE MUST BE COMPETING WITH THOSE OLD GUYS ON 60 MINUTES.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:04 PM on 03/04/2008

Mmmm... God that woman is SOOO sexy!

Just... her VOICE is rather grating....

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:11 PM on 03/04/2008

I have to say, it was nice to see and hear Fran again. I am a fan.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:35 PM on 03/04/2008

She did an on air commercial during an interview, with the host present. It was out of line with normal I don't blame Fran for speaking to Latin voters, but it's, maybe it's something normally bad form. Rosie O should back off. She's sounding nutty again.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:32 PM on 03/04/2008

1. if you are going to speak spanish to try to impress people who speak spanish, don't do it badly (e.g. "si se pueda")

2. Also don't waste your time. Most latinos in the US are pochos who don't even speak spanish. Just say what you gotta say in english without a wasted effort at patronizing them.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:09 AM on 03/04/2008

Perhaps Rosie would have liked Larry better if he had responded in mock chinese.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:59 PM on 03/03/2008

I am not bilingual. I can put together a sentence in inteligible Spanish. Fran Drescher cannot.

What are you doing? is the perfect comment on her strange near-Spanish interlude.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:33 PM on 03/03/2008

I love Fran Drescher! Smart, politically sophisticated, ballsy, and beautiful! Whoever has Fran in their life is one lucky man. I didn't know she was as politically aware. I would do back flips just to shake her hand. Wow. What an incredible woman.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:08 PM on 03/03/2008

Will anyone question whether or not Fran is a stupid bitch? Her Spanish is horrible and she's supporting Hillary. No more proof is need thank you very much.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:21 PM on 03/03/2008

What the hell was she doing on that panel in the first place? I didn't realize she was a pundit now. King didn't do anything wrong. I'm as liberal as anybody but this was embarassing for the nany, not the King.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:29 PM on 03/03/2008

Rosie trumps up a silly criticism of the nonagenarian King.
It was simply a harmless reaction by King, et als.
Rosie O'Donell and Donald Trump, perfect together.
BTW, I saw some commentary (wouldn't bother to read it) written by Rosie on HuffPo recently. How the heck does a vapid Rosie O'Donnel rate appearing in Huffpo?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:13 PM on 03/03/2008

They mock her for speaking spanish? What a bunch of racists, again.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:39 PM on 03/03/2008

Are you speaking ironically?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:34 PM on 03/03/2008

No, I'm serious.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:30 PM on 03/04/2008

she was barely speaking it....

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:06 PM on 03/03/2008

I like King saying "That's kinda weird". No Larry, that's kind of smart. Does Larry think we're going to take this shit anymore? Hell no! In the immortal words of Howard Beale:

WE'RE MAD AS HELL, AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!

Thanks Fran.

Thanks for showing democrats how to get their act together Rosie.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:19 PM on 03/03/2008

I gotta tell you that probably most republicans are sitting back and looking on with a sense of amazement. You democrats can be an insensitive lot. The general election has already started for us and you are still ripping each other. I don't know about democrats, but I am sick of the Hillary/Obama thing already. I am interested in following it but only out of curiosity. Trying to make something positive out of their message is becoming harder and harder.

Anything they have to offer is being denigrated by their own party. Simply amazing!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:38 PM on 03/03/2008

I'm "sitting back and looking on with a sense of amazement" at your straightforwardness.

So, where do you go for rallying FirstShirt, in Main Street, Kentucky, wearing your "first shirt" of choice, I'm sure: A big white sheet with two cutout holes for your eyes!?...Good on 'ya, for being so politically active!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:16 PM on 03/03/2008

I like Ms. Drescher, i really do, but her attempt to connect with the "Latinas" is dumb, just dumb. If she needed to speak Spanish, her intended audience wasn't watching. The show was, up to then, was an English language program correct?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:47 AM on 03/03/2008

does anyone under 80 years old watch larry king?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:18 PM on 03/02/2008

yes

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:37 AM on 03/03/2008

I like Fran, she is freakin HOT. But, she should switch to Obama, come on Franny Baby.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:21 PM on 03/02/2008

Fran would make a hot Obama girl. I've had a crush on he since the nanny. Heh, too bad she's not down with the revolution. Oh well, I'm sure there's still some young Fran analoge with the proper politics. for me to meet out ther somewhere. ;)

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:21 PM on 03/03/2008

It was good natured kidding. She wasn't mocked. Another ridiculous over the top HuffPo headline. You people have no sense of proportion.

I also hope Democrats get out of the circular firing squad and stop eviscerating the other Democratic candidate. It's probably trolls causing the trouble since no Democrat is going to vote to let McCain continue the war, appoint Supreme Court justices and veto progressive legislation like healthcare reform.

The vulgar insults are counter productive.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:45 PM on 03/02/2008

Yeah, I agree - she wasn't mocked. It was just 'banter'. She speaks better Spanish than me (and probably Larry) so I'm not gonna criticize.

I have a strong lean towards Obama, but even I get surprised (and disappointed) when people (incl HuffPo) take cheap shots at anyone who supports Hillary. Obama's campaign can stand on it's own feet - it doesn't need to succeed because Hillary's has been knee-capped. No wonder she complains of a media bias against her.

This story is not really a story at all ...

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:20 PM on 03/02/2008

The truth is, both sides take cheap shots. I'm an obama support, but I'll let you in on a little secret. We're not choosing between Jesus and Lucifer....more like Peter and Judas. But even peter denys and his clique denys they know Jesus on occasion. (They just don't lead the romans to the man, which is enough of a difference for me!)

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:23 PM on 03/03/2008

The problem with King's show and Drescher's contribution might have something to do with the fact that everyone has something to say these days and many surrogates are happy to join a discussion via satelite..This means being a disembodied head unable to hear the response from the others quickly, if at all. It made the usually clever and very personable Drescher appear befuddled. At this stage of the campaign having a not so bright bulb blinking out talking points is not going to help Hillary Clinton connect with undecided voters.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:01 PM on 03/02/2008

I like Fran Drescher; I have no idea why.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:15 PM on 03/02/2008

Because she kept up a GREAT body for a long, long time.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:20 PM on 03/02/2008

Ok, let's go with that then.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:40 PM on 03/02/2008

"Inelegant Spanish"? Guess you missed Ted Kennedy's rendition of the song, Jalisco, then. AND, he did the whole song!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:28 AM on 03/02/2008

Not to mention George Bush's god-awful Spanish. I guess people deserve credit for trying but, it's a shame most Americans don't speak more languages, elegantly or otherwise. Nevertheless, I love Fran Drescher. She has a right to speak her mind like everyone else, although I usually don't look to Hollywood for political inspiration.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:31 PM on 03/02/2008

You are absolutely right. So called sophisticated americans can be some of the dumest people on God's green earth. As a society of immigrants we are intolerant of those who don't speak a certain language and then when someone like Fran tries, they are critized instead of applauded. I'm no fan of Clinton or Obama, but I applaud Fran for trying.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:59 AM on 03/03/2008

Drescher is merely giving a shout out to the large, non-English speaking, hispanic demographic watching Larry King.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:55 AM on 03/02/2008

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:00 AM on 03/02/2008

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:45 AM on 03/02/2008

dont let the door hit ya in the ass

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:16 PM on 03/02/2008

I saw this on TV. This woman was really obnoxious, talking over the other guests, interrupting, spouting Clinton talking points, and shamelessly shilling for Hillary. If anyone needed another reason NOT to vote for the Clintons, Fran Drescher just gave them one. Hillary and her supporters are a very obnoxious group. I can't wait until the concession speech comes. I'm gonna throw a party.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:04 AM on 03/02/2008

So you believe that people are morons and easily led to vote for YOUR candidate because they don't like what celebrities endorse the other? Are you that stupid and easily misled? Or is it only people who don't agree with you? Quite honestly, throw a party no matter who wins -- you can a have a little party of one and it will be FULL of obnoxious guests...
