Virginia Rep. Thelma Drake has a new idea to maintain congressional support for the war in Iraq: Call in Angelina Jolie.

The movie star -- half of the "Brangelina" power couple that rules Hollywood -- recently returned from Iraq in her role as a United Nations goodwill ambassador.

At least they are showing good taste by not calling in Britney or Lindsey. This is the answer to CSPAN's low ratings.

Seriously though, I wish they would stop this crap. Who are the people electing these people? I expect my local school board to be more serious than the types of antics we see from the US Congress. I wait to see who they will bring in for their own entertainment next week with bated breath.

Jolie had the "tour" that the congressmen get, I am sure. Nothing but good reports. Was she allowed to talk to some of the kids in uniform, to get their honest responses? I doubt it. What in HELL makes Jolie an expert on this? She should be home taking care of all the children she has adopted. I for one, am getting tired of "Saint Angelina" Sometimes I think she is in it for the publicity. The adopted children need a mother, not someone who is absent most of the time. There are millions of women adopting children every year, with no fanfare. They quietly get on with the job of raising them, THEMSELVES, with no household help, and not millions of dollars in the bank. Raising kids is not easy under any circumstances. Jolie really should devote more of her time to these children. Did she adopt any of the numerous orphans in Iraq, caused by this invasion?

What part of 'Angelina Jolie is an Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' dont you get?

Having given her commitment (a concept about which you are forgiven for having no knowledge of) to visit war-torn and ravaged places on the planet, to bring tothe attention of the rest of us in our cushioned world of plenty, that there are people suffering who need our help, the visit to iraq was just another of the dozens she has done since 2001.

The fact that lazy, good-for-nothing armchair critics like you twist her words and motives to suit your selfish self-centred motives, has nothing to do with Angelina or her children. You nasty little piece of flotsam, lowlife, to pick on a woman AND HER KIDS.

I'd say that's bad news for the Rethugs. Jolie is right. It's time to correct the crime committed.

Of course she should testify! Some people just hear, "the surge is working". What they don't hear about are the two million refugees, one hundred thousand dead Iraquis, and countless millions with lives turned upside down.

Well from the left I thought that Hollywood had all the experts? Like Rosie, Ellen, Sean Penn, Streisand, Michael Moore, Clooney and the like. What should really be pointed out is that she makes more sense than anyone on the left including Pelosi and Reid. Those two clowns are making an absolute mockery and circus of the party.
