McCain Suggests He Won't Investigate Bush Corruption

Despite rhetoric about tackling corruption in Washington, John McCain does not appear too eager to look into the current administration. When asked today about supporting independent investigations into the Bush administration, McCain replied:

"I do not agree with your sentiment that there has been widespread corruption. I just don't accept that. And by the way my friends do you think it would be nice if the President of the United States got a little bit of credit for the fact that there has not been another attack on the United States of America since 9-11? I think he deserves some credit for that. I really do."

Well that seals it - McCain is nothing but a third bush term. I'd like to think that the gopper couldn't be fooled again, but they did vote bush in for a second term.

I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!

But maybe if Hillary's elected and the Republicans take congress, we can have another investigation of Socks the Cat's fan club.

McCain can be replaced by the three monkeys
hear no republican evil
see no republican evil
speak no republican evil
That will suit his party but it won't help America.

Wow what a story. McCain will not investigate the guy who just supported him. I bet if Clinton gets it she won't either. She needs all the good will she can find for the scandals that will plague her administration.

What Clinton administration? There won't be one. Hillary's actions of staying in the race, even though she can't win the delegate count, will ensure McCain is the president. So while your correct that she probably wouldn't investigate Bush''s crimes, she won't get the chance. She will never be the president.

"McCain Suggests He Won't Investigate Bush Corruption"

Well, THERE'S a surprise. Ever since a giant seed pod was left next to McCain's bed in 2004, John has found it in his heart to reverse almost every independent stand he's made in favor of a blanket endorsement of Bush. Hmmm...

This guy is sickening. This country had better wise up, before it's too late.

He should investigate, it will take the heat off his own problems.
'Hey don't look in my backyard, look over here.'
He will be able to go after his own enemies, and he is a vengeful person.

Wow. Just...wow. Who was that guy who used to **HATE** GWB and make no bones about it? Who was that who used to go on The Daily Show and routinely call W out? Where's the pod?

Pathetic. Let them all walk away. Mcain would have been a viable alternative for me if Obama is not the democratic candidate. His behaviour over the past few months proved to me at least that he is not a "maverick" or independant in any way, shape , or form. The threats from the ultra right wing of his party have turned him into a flip flopping pussy. If it ends up being Mcain vs Clinton. This lifelong DEM who is a social liberal and fiscal conservative will stay my ass home.

That's the thing about voting in Republicans. You know, when you do so, that the 'lockstepping instinct' of Republicans will keep all the bodies buried. That's what their 'loyalty' is all about.

I have a feeling that neither Hillary or Obama will investigate either. I hope I'm wrong, but my instinct says neither of them comes in and wants to stir up a partisan firestorm by going after the criminals.

It looks like some of the greatest crimes in American history are going to go uninvestigated and unpunished.

What corruption is he talking about? All of it?

Why isn't he the "official" GOP nominee?

Because he doesn't have 1191 yet, more lies
from the GOP and the MSM

As if that really ever mattered, though...

Huff Post thank you for this soap box it was fun sounding off to my fellow americans-but i feel an injustice is being done to a good american who happens to be a Black Man- and from the election turn out the LIES worked. Again Thanks TWOSHORT IS OUT.

No way in hell he would investigate Bush or Cheney or Rove - or let Justice Dept. do it. By the time general election day comes around McCain will be so indebted to Bush et. al. and their supporters he will remember and do only what he is told to. Unfortunately, if HRC is the Dem nominee, we may all get a chance to see just what McCain does as president.

Rush's campaign to get repub to cross over and vote for Hillary worked.

Have you not figured it out yet - we have but ONE PARTY! Sure, they do a song and dance to make
us believe that they are with us but in the end they always give in, so what does that tell you?
If one does not investigate the previous corruption, how on earth do we prevent it in the future when
there is no consequences. That is like telling a thief, go ahead and take what you need but we
won't prosecute. But I give up, the public is so very dumb. Politicians already know that and they are
rubbing it in.

The 9-11 Commission and report was a farce. Hampered, sidelined and underfunded by the very people it should have investigated in the first place. There has not been another attack (YET!) because the same people that orchestrated the first one realize too many eyes are already upon them. I am fully aware that too many Americans still believe the "19 Arabs" bullshit line, but close review of the actual evidence indicates otherwise. However Joe Sixpack hasn't the mental inquisitiveness to educate himself with the truth. Too many weak kneed, complicit politicians and a corporate media make getting the true facts to the American people an impossibility. War on terror...My ass!!

My friends - i've got some straight talk for you: get ready for 4 more years of Bush policies.

Anyone besides me notice that when this story was first intro'd on this site, the headline said "McCain says won't investigate Bush" not, as above, "suggests he won't." Big difference and makes me wonder what happened that made th change necessary, eh, HuffPo interns????
America wants to know!!!

I agree. It does seem that there have been some uncharacteristic "niceties" extended as of late. You really would not have expected that sort of compromise here, would you? Shame.

I guess Clinton should get a lot of credit for having no attacks when he was president. Only inept bush allowed the US to be attacked by a bunch of sand terrorists.

What part of 'impeachment is off the table" do Libs not understand?
