Harlow Madden is hotter than Max Bratman — at least according to the sales of their respective People magazine covers. The People cover featuring Nicole Richie and her daughter with fiance Joel Madden is "on target to sell an estimated 1.8 million copies" of People, reports MSNBC's "The Scoop."

Meanwhile, the People cover featuring Christina Aguilera and her son with hubby Jordan Bratman only sold approximately 1.3 million copies, according to the New York Post's Keith Kelly, who labeled the Aguilera cover — for which People paid a reported $1.5 million — "a flop."

People reportedly paid Richie $1 million for the first photos of baby Harlow.

Yeah, but what other stories were on the covers of other mags when the Aguilera cover hit the stands? Aguilera may have hit a bad week (plenty of other big stories), Ritchie a slow week (nothing much else happening).

I have little interest in either celebrity but if this is true (Ritchie outsells Aguilera) then it's a bit of an indictment on America. Aquilera is a highly successful pop artist (no, I've never bought her records - or downloaded any for free, you cynics), Ritchie is a ... a ... an underweight former drug user who 'starred' on a reality TV show. OMG.
