Clinton Stay In

ABC News:

Democrats by more than a 2-1 margin say Hillary Clinton should stay in the presidential race even if she loses either the Texas or Ohio primary on Tuesday. But if she fails in both, fewer than half say they'd want her to fight on.

Many, in that case, have another idea for Clinton: the vice presidency.

The Clinton started it. So now they are going to get it. And here are a few for starters:

1) Hillary why won't you release your tax returns?

2) Why are you currently under indictment for fraud in Los Angeles Superior Court as we speak by Peter Paul? When will you testify?

3) Why won't you release your White House papers?

4) Did you know that you are the only first lady to ever be charged with a crime?

5) How much money did you and Bill make on that shady uranium deal last year?

6) Where did you get the five million to loan your campaign?

7) What's the deal with you and Norman Hsu?

8) Why haven't you returned a 170,000 campaign contribution check from a corporation currently on trial for over 100 sexual harassment claims. All other major Democrats have returned these funds. Why not you? And doesn't that seem odd for such a women's advocate?

9) How did you feel about assassinating the character of a 12 year old rape victim back in your lawyering days when you defended her rapist?

10) Any comments on the fact that your administration was almost impeached?

11) Do you still consider yourself innocent in the Whitewater scandal?

12) And finally, where ARE your tax returns? Obama released his a long time ago. Where are yours?

13) We noticed that you voted against a ban on cluster bombs. Care to comment?

14) Why didn't you read the NIE report before voting to go to war with Iraq? You had it, and please don't say that almost no one read it. The dog ate my homework is also taken.

15) And once again, WHERE ARE YOUR TAX RETURNS?

The people are "choosing" Hillary: she won Rhode Island, Ohio and she's still ahead in TExas.
Its a shame there are so many Haters out there who can't stop bashing HIllary, no matter how hard
she works. The voters are choosing Hillary, they're choosing substance over fluff.

Clinton needs to bow out gracefully. I would be happy to vote for her in 2016, but she needs to stop dividing the Democratic Party. At this point she seems to be making a case for McCain if she loses the nomination to Obama. She argues she can defeat McCain but Obama cannot. She is implicitly saying McCain would make a better president than Obama. Of course this seems to be her strategy this week, based on scaring people into voting for her. The direction of Clinton's campaign, as of late, has tactics similar to those of the Republican Party. If Clinton's supporters like that, which presumably they do or they would not continue to support her, they are much more likely to endorse McCain over Obama if Clinton loses the nomination.

Another IMPORTANT consideration: Obama's supporters will not roll over and die. As I've told a number of people, Obama has not built a campaign as much as a social movement. Social movements are much stronger and have a far greater life expectancy than a campaign. The anti-war movement that arose during the Vietnam War is a prime example. The social movement and unrest did not stop until the war did. Likewise, the social movement spurred by Obama will continue even if Obama does not get the nomination.

Obama will never be able to endorse Clinton if she defeats him. To leave with any integrity or respect from his supporters, obviously something needed for any future run at the White House, Obama cannot fade into the background as a "sell-out." By endorsing Clinton he endorses the very thing he and his supporters oppose the most, the status quo of the nation and the politics of yesteryear.

The supporters of the social movement will persevere with or without Obama. He has started something not even he can stop. The movement wants change. Clinton can't offer it. The only other candidate that can, albeit to a lesser degree, is NADER. Yes, I said it. The disenfranchised supporters of the social movement led by Obama will defect to Nader. He won't be viable but the message of the social movement will still be sent, loud and clear. Of course this means the next president will be McCain. Don't blame Obama or his supporters though, blame Hillary Clinton. She and her political machine have seen this coming and choose to look the other way - sacrificing the party for her own selfish desires. The only positive point if this scenario plays out, McCain's old and can't last forever.

News flash - there are now more independents than either democrats or republicans. I'm an independent for Obama. No way will I vote for Hillary. I'm not sure what I'll do, but a third Clinton term is NOT what this country needs.

Note that the "big" states - California, NY, NJ, are "closed" primaries - if you're an independent, you can't vote in a democratic primary. The democrats are their own worst enemy. Obama attracts independents, Clinton doesn't.

I Clinton gets the nomination, McCain will become president. - Look at polls if you don't believe me.

Based on the dumb-assed answer, the Democrats polled are probably a viable cross-section of the American populace... the same populace that watches American Idol and "Survivor - Waukesha" (or whereever that asinine show is being filmed this season).

Hillary WILL stay in the race however, if only to poison the well for Obama, and thus ensure that McCain becomes President.

Party loyalty is not a factor here.

If this would destroy the Democrats chance of winning come November, then I say "Yes She Can". Hillary can stay even if she loses every contest.

LOL

For everyone who has voted up until now, there will be millions of new votes in November. HIllary will not give up regardless of any primary. Her husband lost in the primaries. He won the national election. History will repeat itself. Anyone who does not see a follow through here, for the benefit and progress of our country - doesn't really care about the most number of people involved. Vote Hillary Clinton. It's time for a woman in America to be a President. These inexperienced men can wait. They had their chance, and so far, we are fighting and struggling. A woman can do all the metaphysical things a man can do, and we need this election to prove it.

Bill never got 50% of the vote either time - I know, I voted for Perot twice.
Hillary will suffer the same fate, but without a viable third choice, McCain will prevail.

It really doesn't matter after the 4th. Richardson and most others will jump to the front runner. At that point there is no reason to be in except pride/ego.

This is primarily because from this day on, any single word said against the other candidate, is fodder for the Republicans to sink there teeth into, therefor weakening the chance of the entire Democratic party.

I would like to see a poll done now that she has supported McCain for President.

I actually agree with this poll. My only reservation is the type of campaigning the Clinton camp has been doing. I don't like cheating on the Democratic side any more than I like it on the Republican side. And if you can only sway opinion by lying about your opponent, that's cheating.

I'd like to see Hillary stay in the race, but only if her campaign can muster up an honorable strategy.

If Hillary loses, her and Bill may support McCain openly or secretly as they supported Lieberman over the Democrat.

Obama is the one who supported Lieberman in his re-election bid. Obama also considered him to be his "mentor" in the Senate. Get your facts straight please.

Cool. I feel the same way. Glad to see that others agree with me. I think it's healthy for the Democratic party, and I don't think voters in large states should be disenfranchised in this all-important year.

I agree with the poll, too. I'm constantly amazed by the Obama supporters who keep saying that she should just get out of the race. If the positions were reversed between the two candidates, and we still had, say South Carolina and Georgia left to vote, would they be saying Obama should step out. Not only no, but HELL no.

If Obama had lost 11 races in a row, you know Clinton supporters would be calling for him to get out. That said, as an Obama supporter, I think Hillary should stay in the race. I just want her to stop cheating.

I can actually see Sen Huckleberry Clinton carrying on her campaign with the Celine Dion theme song from the Titanic playing around her campaign as the Dem superdelegates head off to the life rafts....

I see a table on the deck of the ill fated SS Huckleberry Clinton; the table is adorned with donuts and coffee it is reserved for the quartet playing the solemn theme song music. The guest musicians are Mark Penn, Dollar Bill, Harold Ickes & Howard Wolfston ... such a heart breaking scene ....

A piercing shriek shatters the air.... "meet me in Pennsylvania!!!"; echoes across the barren sea as the last lifeboats of Dem super delegates is gently lowered to the sea.
