Financial infidelity is bad, but it's even worse when it is used to engage in an extramarital affair.

Ruth Houston, the author of "Is He Cheating On You? 829 Telltale Signs," says the following nine behaviors may be indicators of a spouse's infidelity:

* Credit card statements that reflect charges for flowers, jewelry or other gift items that the spouse did not receive.

* Unauthorized or surprise withdrawals from joint bank accounts.

* Deposit slips or bank statements that indicate the existence of a previously unknown checking or savings account in the wife's/husband's name only.

The easiest way to catch a cheating spouse is if all of your banking accounts are joint so both parties are aware of what is coming in and going out, and each can monitor the activity separately. I never understood the need to have separate accounts. Marriage is about open communication, negotiation and compromise. Financial indiscretions are most likely symptomatic of a fundamental problem between the couple, one that has nothing to do with money, and is more likely related to communication and compatibility.

More proof of a need for a prenuptual agreement. That agreement should include a demand for fiscal responsibility and safeguards that keep both parties working and responsible for their incomes and the joint management of the bills. And you can certainly add a clause regarding infidelity... instant dissolution.
Financial accountability goes hand in hand with the rest of the marriage agreement, in my opinon. Like dadw5boys sez, separate bank accounts with one joint account for the bills. Also you can sidestep the credit card fraud with the same ageement - no joint credit cards except maybe one for emergencies.... and a prenup to cover the details and then, if she is a cheater and a liar, you have some options that you wouldn't have otherwise.
I spent almost 20years in a relationship where we shared everything and we tried to be in business together and it was an utter failure. I was very tight and focused, she was impulsive and stupid and when it came to accountability the solution was for her to rage at me and deny it all no matter what was on paper...On top of it she was anything but faithful. I know now that she was probably a Borderline Personality Disorder type but it cost me thousands of dollars and a lot of failed opportunities to realize it, understand it and get away from it. A prenup could have saved me a lot of trouble. If I ever get married again, and I have my doubts at this point, I won't do it without one.

You have private and seperate accounts before getting married. Keep it that way.
Also put a statement on your credit that no one is to be added to your credit account.
Some women get 10 to 20 new credit cards before they leave a man. They throw away the extra card sent to him. Then max out the cards after they move out for new stuff then file bankruptize. Talk about getting over. They then find some fool and do it again.
JOINT ACCOUNT should only be funded just to pay the bills keep the rest seperate. Hard learned lessons.

That's not true. When I filed for my divorce, one of the first things my lawyer told me was that I was responsible for any credit card debt that I incurred. Also, she said that all spending was to be curtailed...anything extraneous would have to be paid by ME.
The only things that were to be paid jointly were daily expenses...nothing out of the ordinary.
I would have never gotten away with getting a ton of new credit cards and then having my ex pay for that....I don't know who gets away with that kind of shit, but I certainly didn't. And I wouldn't have done it anyway. It's just wrong.

I guess this list is for those people that wouldn't recognize a two-by-four unless it hits them in the head.

Oh man--War in Iraq, global warming, economic meltdown, destruction of the Constitution, hi-jacking of the Democratic nomination by billary, the fascist coup that has enslaved America--and now I have to worry about this, too? Man, it just ain't fair...
