Clinton: McCain And I Have Passed

Clinton: McCain And I Have Passed "Commander-In-Chief Threshold"

The Swamp   |  Rick Pearson   |   March 6, 2008 05:08 PM

In a Cabinet-style setting, surrounded by retired military leaders, Sen. Hillary Clinton said the public should ask whether Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama has met the criteria needed to become the nation's commander in chief.

"I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it's imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold," the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant's bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

"I believe that I've done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you'll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy," she said.

Even if hair brained pronouncements like this give some folks the impression that Hillary is a tough broad on winning streak all she has really managed to accomplish by uttering such crap is to throughly disgust most of Obama's supporters and earn the enmity of a growing portion of the party leadership . She may be an excellent practitioner of scorched earth politics and she may even be able to scrape her way to the nomination through double talk, smears and closed room arm twisting but Hillary will never rally enough support to defeat McCain in the fall by alienating half of the Democratic Party through such miserably shortsighted methods.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:46 PM on 03/07/2008

I know I have been asking everyone to pledge to vote for Hillary if she wins(steals) the nomination, but she is making it really difficult.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:27 PM on 03/07/2008

By what evidence did hillary pass this threshold? Because hillary said so. Well nuts to that. I want proof!

What a load of bullshit from the queen of slime.

hillary is pushing awfully hard to get McCain elected and I believe that she will succeed.

Hillary Clinton " Commander in Chief, "Now that is a laugh! Hillary your more of a "Joke, than McCain, the trouble is your not qualified to anything but your husbands mate.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:36 PM on 03/07/2008

It's obvious she's striving to be Jhon McCain's running mate. She might as well save use the drama and sign up to the republican ticket. Thye have pretty much voted in lock-step anyways. If supporting the war on Iraq is what it takes to meet the commander in chief threshold, then we want none of it...

It seems like only yesterday that Sen. Clinton, et.al. were jumping all over Sen. Obama because he said Reagan had ideas.... Lookie here now! According to Sen. Clinton, the REPUBLICAN nominee for the presidency is more qualified to be president than her fellow Democrat (who has waged a phenomenal and well organized campaign against someone who just months ago had double digit leads in nearly every state).

By her logic and definition, Sen. Clinton should just step down and endorse Sen. McCain since his experience in elected office, military service, legislations sponsored, and work on committees is far, far superior to anything she's accomplished.

If it indeed does come down to Clinton and McCain, why should anyone vote for her? How can she be so short-sighted?

If Hillary loses nomination don't be surprised if the Clintons support McCain.

Dailykos on Connecticut Senate Race,President Clinton, on the other hand, probably provided the singular destructive post-primary moment of anyone outside the campaign. He provided every national Democrat the cover they needed to stay out of the race in one single moment on Larry King Live. He said he wasn't too concerned about who won the election between Ned and Joe. Mind you, this was post-primary, and he was pretty much the first big-name national Democrat to do so. When he was asked to put out a statement clarifying that he supported Ned, we were told he was on vacation, but one would be forthcoming. Well, we got one mealy-mouthed sentence a few days later. He never made it right. Ever.

Why not give her what she wants a Hillary/Liberman ticket on the GOP side.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:03 PM on 03/07/2008

Clinton would sell her Mother, daughter and Bill, including her sole to be President, oh, I forgot she already did that. She thinks surrounding herself with flags , I'm surprised she didn't have some Iraqi war vets with only one limb left sitting on both sides of her. This entire mess makes me sick.
She would rather see McCain in office then Obama, that's where her loyality lies folks, it's me or nobody. I've lost all respect for the Clintons, and Bill Clinton was a good President, unfortunately his wife feels it's owed to her.
Let's hope Obama starts slamming her, but then he seems to be an honorable man, I guess he will have to drop in the gutter like Hillary if he wants to win, she's running her campaign from the Carl Rove playbook. Elect her or McCain and this country will continue to plummet.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:01 PM on 03/07/2008

I stood up for her with the 3:00 A.M. AD, cause that's her prerogative - but SIDING with the ENEMY against One of "OUR" own is "DESPICABLE".

There are far more "EFFECTIVE" and Smart ways of ATTACKING your Opponent (Obama) than SIDING with a REPIG.

HILLARY - you F _ _ _ _ _ - UP - and WENT "FAR" Over the Line - all the way over to the REPUGNANTS.

If you have NO loyalty to the Democratic Party, then maybe you should lieave it, and run as McLame's running mate. I hear he's looking for a VP.

That might suit you bettter.

What ridiculous claptrap from this republican wannabe! Yeah Hillary has got the experience alright, the experience to further expand the power and waste of resources of the Pentagon at the expense of our nations CIVILIAN priorities!
Both Shillary and McCain pass the "warmonger to look tough" test but NOT the integrity or anti-corruption test. The creepy feeling I got when I saw the photo of McCain hugging Bush like an obsequious sycophant........this after the Bush machine trashed him personally.........I still can't get over. Hillary has so many skeletons in her closet re corruption, campaign contributions from corporate interests and criminals like Marc Rich, who Bill (and Hillary) pardoned while he was still a fugitive from justice http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=21595
and her Library will not now release the record. This creature will do or say anything to evade the truth of her record. She would sell anyone down the river to further her unbelievable ego and ambition....even to our unity and the possibilities of a progressive win in November. The Wicked Witch of the East is truly a despicable Monster!

WAKE UP PEOPLE to our REAL adversary and progressive enemy!....the Clinton republican-lite corporate shill distortion machine!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:45 AM on 03/07/2008

It's really "smart" that she's now taken the argument of McCain's qualifications completely off the table for the general election if --- GULP --- she were to be the Dem. Nominee. Unfortunately, Senator McSame would not extend her the same courtesy.

Being married to Bill Clinton during HIS presidency and having demonstrated that she could not even keep track of HIS actions much less classified information about world events during that time, McSame would have a field day with her.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:15 AM on 03/07/2008

Hillary, we voted your husband into the Presidency and BiLL NEVER HAD YOUR "PROFOUND

EXPERIENCE" BEFORE BECOMING PRESIDENT.

Hmmmm

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:44 AM on 03/07/2008

So Clinton endorses the warmonger McCain as Commander in Chief over Obama? What a ruthless, worthless witch she is.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:40 AM on 03/07/2008

You know, if Senator Obama had said the same thing about himself and Senator McCain, the wailing and gnasing of teeth from Clinton supporters would be deafening.

It's obvious to me now who's supporters are borderline delusional, and they're not Senator Obama's.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:31 AM on 03/07/2008

Hillary stated that was present when Bill got those urgent phone calls.... Wonder if she was also present when he got those urgent phone-sex calls from Monica?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:31 AM on 03/07/2008

At least Bills was the opposite sex !!
Hows Obama and Larry Sinclair ????

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:25 PM on 03/07/2008

I don't think that Hillary orchestrated smear panned out. LOL

Except Larry failed his polygraph test and his story logically contradicts itself. Quit with the Rovian tactics.

Hillary is qualified to be the President She was the president by injection for eight years!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:25 AM on 03/07/2008

She forgot the "Mission Accomplished" sign.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:21 AM on 03/07/2008

Well, it seems that Hillary is positioning herself to be on any ticket whether it be the Democratic as President, or on the Republican ticket as Vice President. I was discussing this with my wife last night, when not more than five minutes later Keith Olberman made the same statement on Countdown. The Clinton campaign it seems will do and say anything at any cost to secure Hillary"s place in History. They attack Senator Obama with half truths, and out right lies, then in the same breath accuse Senator Obama of unfair attacks. They accused Senator Obama of contacting Canada in regard to NAFTA, when in reality it was the Clinton Campaign that had made the contact. Yesterday Hillary claimed to be more prepared to be President by virtue of the fact that her husband had been President, and she had seen what happens at three in the morning. My wife and I have been married for nearly 20 years, I am a Locomotive Engineer, my wife has been there every step of the way, she was there when I would be called in at three in the morning, she heard me discuss our operations every night at the dinner table. Even with her extensive knowledge of my job, I would not want to trust her to run a train. I have been watching Football most of my life, I have played on Park District teams, and in the park with friends. I sometimes think that I know more than the Chicago Bears coaching staff, but the truth of the matter is that I am not qualified to be a coach on a professional level. Hillary, and those who would be swayed by her argument need to think long and hard about what qualifies one to be President, this is just another example of her poor judgment. I do not want to trust her judgment as President. If she is the Democratic candidate in the fall, I will not vote for her. Hillary is a Joe Lieberman turncoat in disguise. If history has taught us anything, it is beware of the Trojan horse!

Hillary: You mean you're both war mongers who bomb now and never ask any questions only justify, obfuscate and lie to qualify your unsavoury characters?

If that's your threshold, then yeah, you both pass with flying colors.

Hillary as gone out of her way to praise Republicans and their positions. A Democrat or a Progressive would be insane to vote for her. If she loses the nomination, it appears from her rhetoric that she and Bill might support McCain in the general election.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:56 AM on 03/07/2008

Perpetual war, death is freedom, 100 year occupation. Hillary and John pass the war monger test.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:51 AM on 03/07/2008

No matter how you want to look at this the republicans will take the white house. Clinton threw in the kitchen sink. She is doing everything possible to win. If Obama continues to try and stay positive he will loose to Clinton, especially if Clinton has her way with Florida and Michigan. If he goes negative he has a good chance of taking Michigan and the nomination. So each democratic candidate will run a negative campaign drawing the line between Clinton and Obama that much thicker splitting the democratic party. Who ever wins the opposing candidate's supporters will less likely go to vote or vote against. Clinton will not make president. She has galvanized the Obama supporters too much and there are to many out there for her to cover that kind of loss. She will hand this over to the republicans. The only chance we have is Obama and that seems to be slipping away too now because of Clintons unwillingness to give up and her willingness to discredit a fellow democrat to get what she wants. She is not doing this for us. This is for her. If it was about us than she would have dropped out when she realized she was falling further and further behind and realized what most Americans wanted. She looked at what America wanted and took it away by calling a dream and nothing more. She does not give a shit about our dreams. She only cares for one thing. Herself.
