French Women: The New Sexual Predators

French Women: The New Sexual Predators

The Telegraph   |  Verena von Pfetten   |   March 7, 2008 02:51 PM

French women are becoming increasingly assertive in their sexual habits, while one-in-five younger French men "has no interest in sex", according to one of the most comprehensive surveys of the nation's love lives.

Women now have more than twice as many partners as they did in the 1970s, according to the study by the French Aids research agency, which is backed by the government.

"Are women just like men?" asked Le Nouvel Observateur yesterday, which released extracts of the Study on Sexuality in France, a 600-page tome that brings together 12,000 in-depth interviews with people of all ages conducted during 2005-06.

One of the biggest changes in recent years, according to the report, was that male and female sexual behaviour had become increasingly similar.

Carla Bruni, the new wife of French president Nicholas Sarkozy, is one of HuffPost's fave frenchies. Her thoughts:

Female sexual emancipation has been a hot topic in France ever since President Nicolas Sarkozy met Carla Bruni, the Italian model and singer. The couple married last month.

Ms Bruni recently declared monogamy "terribly boring" and spoke in relaxed fashion about her numerous past conquests, including Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.

"I am a tamer [of men], a cat, an Italian", she told Le Figaro last year.

"I am faithful... to myself. I am monogamous from time to time but I prefer polygamy and polyandry [its female equivalent]."

French women have been sought after by American men since Ben Franklin was made the first US ambassador to France.

Viva la France!

Dammit!

Where'd they get that photo of me?!

heh heh

I now forgive France for all its faults.
Next stop, Paris!

French women are the most unkempt example of femininity that the good Lord has allowed. A truly distasteful sort who rarely bathe and wash under their arms. Real stinkos! Please can we keep them inside French borders. They give the rest of Europe and the world a bad name.

I was in Paris last year, and the local women looked at me as if I was about to ask them for some change.
Or maybe that was Iceland.....

Dang, I knew I should have stayed awake in French class all those years ago in hign school. If I had, moving to France to become a sexual expatriate would be feasible for me! As it is, if I date more than one man at a time, REGARDLESS of whether I'm having sex with any of them or not, I'm automatically labeled a "slut," whereas men who actually DO sleep with more than one woman at a given time are greeted with approval from both genders. God forbid a woman might a) enjoy sex, and b) not let anyone put her down for said enjoyment. As for all you men out there who claim to be okay with a woman who isn't implanted, botoxed, collagened, bleached, plucked, waxed, and wearing 40 pounds of makeup just to go the the grocery store, WHERE ARE YOU????

There are some of us out here...

But then, I'm from a French-speaking part of Louisiana!

I only clicked on it because of the picture.

Paid no heed to the mythology that women are "sexual predators," as claimed in the above absurd headline. I was personally acquainted with a woman whom the courts labeled "registered sex offender." She will show up in statistics and studies as a "rapist," even though she had a purely consensual affair with a male inmate while working in a prison. The court was able to call her "sex offender" simply on the basis that they called the guy "vulnerable adult" simply because he was incarcerated. In reality he was willing and eager, and the woman had love letters from him that proved it. So when you hear about a woman allegedly raping a man, remember that's about as realistic as a mouse a attacking a cat.

I have no comment about the rest of your post but your remark, "So when you hear about a woman allegedly raping a man, remember that's about as realistic as a mouse a attacking a cat," I can tell you categorically; you're wrong.

I will gladly be a victim, as I live in Nebraska. The women here are like some kind of locust who prefer sex every 7 years, if that often. Don't believe me. Move here and find out. It aint pretty.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:53 PM on 03/09/2008

I live in Nebraska, and I would describe the women here exactly opposite. Fat, ugly and not interested in sex. The Truth hurts.

I know where I am vacationing this summer!!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:40 PM on 03/09/2008

This is news? I could have written this story in the '80's when living in France. In fact, i think Ben Franklin wrote about this in the 1780's when he was the Ambassador. BTW:--- they bathe, but they don't shave.

God come here. American men will love you and vice versa. Please, we'll be more than happy to have you anytime you want to visit.

French women are no different from other european women. The have universal healthcare. So they are will taken care of. They don't need to stay with a man for dental care , glasses or any other healthcare. Their children are well taken care of through benefits and insurance. They have regulated , paid time off for vacation and holdays. That makes a woman confident and gives her a secure feeling. She can concentrate on her work, her family life, and sex. She doesn't have to stay with a man for anything else but love, sex or friendship.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:16 AM on 03/09/2008

The French may be onto something here. According to your statement: even fiscally conservative Republicans will vote for universal healthcare since it means more women will avail themselves to the desires of men.

I don't want to comment of the title of this article.

But...........let me use this opportunity to point out a glaring difference between European and American women. In Europe, women do not feel the need to alter their bodies with surgery the way American women do, and they are better for it.

The constant trips to the plastic surgeon of American women is much rarer in Europe. What is the attraction of looking at plastic breasts and lips? Instead of liposuction, how about less time in front of the TV?

time to move to France...! Ha ha.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:58 PM on 03/08/2008

Moral of the story- don't marry a "polyandrist."

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:27 PM on 03/08/2008

Some people want to be the only one, but an amazing number of people don't care if they're just another one.

I'm not much on leftovers.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:20 PM on 03/08/2008

If you read the full article written by Mr. Henry Samuel, nowhere do you see French women being catagorized as "predators" for enjoying and embracing their sexuality.

Apparently, Varena, the author cited above isn't getting any thus feels some sort of perverted jealousy towards French women who have a healthy relationship with themselves and their sensuality.

What surprises me is that the Telegraph author, Varena, is likely European as well, perhaps of German descent, and we all know that Germans have exceptionally healthy attitudes towards sex.

So who is responsible for the headline -- "French Women: The New Sexual Predators" ? Most likely an American, I would guess. Because it is only here that we have such a distorted and sick perception of sex and women, and women and their relationship with sex. It is only here that the naked body, particularly the nipple (OH MY!) is so deeply feared that even a woman breastfeeding her infant is either pornographically objectified or crucified or arrested for "indecent exposure." Only here do we idealize women turned into mute inflatable dolls with their bodies implanted with plastics and chemicals and call them beautiful, perfection -- this is the twisted American divine. It is an aggressive and violent and sick mentality - the American view of sex. So, the word "predatory" to describe a woman grounded in her own sensuality, engaged in the expression of her own identity fully is very American thinking.

So pathetic....

I want to visit France again. I've met a lot of Quebeceurs in Mexico, and I hitchhiked up in Quebec Province thirty-four years ago. I love the French.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:36 PM on 03/08/2008

But is it predatory if the prey doesnt mind?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:25 PM on 03/08/2008

Most American men aren't prey for sex, they're PRAY for sex!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:56 AM on 03/10/2008

There are some of you who seem to have attitudes from another era. There are some of you who clearly have never been to or lived in France and/or don't know any French women. They bathe, they shave and would probably not have anything to do with the likes of you.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:51 AM on 03/08/2008

Oh by all means, send them over here.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:23 AM on 03/08/2008

Puh-lease! You guys think you want a non-stop yes-woman for a lover but you DON'T. Men don't really like women who have experience and let you know they want sex unless it's a one-night-stand. Too much pressure. Admit it, you LIKE being married to the woman who says no so you can have an excuse to stop having sex with your wife. If men would give it up regularly, women wouldn't have to have multiple partners.

Walk the walk, boys.
