Tucker Carlson On Spitzer: "One Of The Least Sleazy Things He's Done"

Tucker Carlson has long disliked Eliot Spitzer, but moments after the governor's press conference apologizing for his involvement with a prostitution ring, Carlson defended him. Carlson, already having a bad day, called Spitzer's involvement with the Emperors Club "one of the least sleazy things he's done." Carlson foreshadowed a piling on of morality police and likened the situation to that which Bill Clinton found himself in.

"Getting all high-handed that a grown man went to a prostitute is nauseating." (1:11 into the video below)... A lot of us are like him, frankly (1:50 in)... Now just because he goes to a hooker they're going to be getting all high handed on him (2:10 in)... I just think this is one of the least sleazy things he's done."

Tucker is a fan, i would assume, of Legalized Prostitution. When he covered Ron Paul on the campaign trail, he caught a ride with the brothel owner from Reno in the guy's limosine, along with two of the girls, to a Ron Paul event. Apparently he has a 'relationship' with the business.

Yes, he is from a very wealthy family who is wildly conservative. For example, his father is on the advisory commitee for the Scooter Libby Legal Defense Fund, the group that was trying to raise funds to cover the attorney fees of former Cheney adviser Scooter Libby for his role in the Valerie Plame outing.

Tucker Carlson was responsible for "pimping for Ron Paul" which was intended to compromise the anti-war candidate. It's hard to imagine something more sleazy...

Carlson is a deeply disturbing guy. He can say something sensible from time to time, but very often it's hard to understand what he is talking about.
He doesn't care about Spitzer's hypocrisy, felonies (arranging a prostitute ring across the state borders) and stealing public money for prostitutes, but he hates him for having gone after crooks in the past...

Tucker is right on the mark here. Spitzer used all sorts of nasty tactics to get people to cave in while a prosecutor. He even investigated people using prostitutes and then used that against them.

Looks like the this has come home to roost for Spitzer - he needs to be a man - step down and walk away - just like everyone who does crap like this should do.

We can debate whether or not prostitution should be legal - but the fact is right now it is illegal and Spitzer ran a Holier Than Thou public life where he ran plenty of others into the ground for issues.

I feel no pity at all for Spitzer - and hopefully his wife won't be one of those women who "Stands by their Man".

Does Tucker have amnesia, or is he just playing stupid? The Republicans may have only had one or two prostitute scandals in the last year, but let's recap some of the others: Gay sex with prostitute and drug abuse (Republican public figure, but not elected official), same sex harassment of under age Congressional pages, public gay sex - Senator, public gay sex - state Senator, drug abuse (Republican public figure, but not elected official).... Well the list just goes on.

I'll listen to Tucker, or any Republican, about sleaze right after I start listening to Bill Clinton about marital infidelity.
