John McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Calls For Destruction Of Islam

Senator John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser an Ohio megachurch pastor who has called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it.

On February 26, McCain appeared at a campaign rally in Cincinnati with the Reverend Rod Parsley of the World Harvest Church of Columbus, a supersize Pentecostal institution that features a 5,200-seat sanctuary, a television studio (where Parsley tapes a weekly show), and a 122,000-square-foot Ministry Activity Center. That day, a week before the Ohio primary, Parsley praised the Republican presidential front-runner as a "strong, true, consistent conservative." The endorsement was important for McCain, who at the time was trying to put an end to the lingering challenge from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, a favorite among Christian evangelicals. A politically influential figure in Ohio, Parsley could also play a key role in McCain's effort to win this bellwether state in the general election. McCain, with Parsley by his side at the Cincinnati rally, called the evangelical minister a "spiritual guide."

Republicans such as Huckabee and McCain do their religion no favour with their fanatical view, in their heart they are no different from those of other religious fanatics who resort to violence. Religion is suppose to be for the good of human kind. There are a lot of similarities to other religions.
For example Christ's, " turn the other cheek" and "do unto yourself as you wish others do unto you" is similar to the Buddha's teachings of " .....he who harbour such thoughts as he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me Those who harbour such thoughts do not still their hatred. Hatred is never appeased by hatret in this world. By non hatred is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal."
The message of every holy scriptures is for the well being of humankind. Look deeply with a compassionate heart and you will find similarity, look with hatred and you will find differences.
Here is a wise statement from King Ashoka who lived more than two thousand years ago. This great king gave up warfare for peace; gave up hatred for compassion. He was the first to build a vet for animals.
The edith of King Ashoka ,'... it is better to honor other religions for this reason. By so doing, one's own religion benefits, and so do other religions, while doing otherwise harms one's own religion and the religions of others.'

Where is the Bible does it say to 'get rid of Islam?'
Which Bible are these preachers preaching from? It is obviously not the one I read.

Enough with this it has gotten way over the top. I don't care. Romney, has a thing for John Smith. So what I have race, gender and politics fatigue. All the news agency's need to STFU with this nonsense and actually report on the candidates.

so what's worse, RepugliKKKan religious zealots who pray for Armageddon, and their neocon friends who own KBR and poison our troops with bad water; or Obama's "preacher" who just gets a little angst out as a catharsis?

Wouldn't black supremacists have to exist? Or do you really mean supremists? In which case the only black one anymore is your boy Clarence Thomas.

Seriously, each candidate could use an upgrade in spiritual advice staff. The ones in place now seem to serve no spiritual purpose at all. I expect they were chosen for purely political reasons.

How funny that this is posted today. Psssst. Have you seen what Obama's pastor, spiritual mentor, and close-personal friend of 20+ years thinks about the country he seeks to lead? Too bad after Hillary's most recent mea culpas to "the black community," she can't point out the fact (at least no publicly) that Obama will be toast in the general election. Picture ten thousand 501(c) orgs running these speeches around the clock and you'll get the idea of what it's going to be like. I suppose Obama can claim he didn't know! LOL.

I don't have a good feeling about John McCain. If he is elected president, we probably will be in a whole lot of trouble.

That's worked for Bush.

Destruction of Islam? What's next - destruction of Judaism? I mean, that's not a pro-Christ religion either. So much for freedom of religion.

Not McCain's first anti-constitutional stand, and certainly not his last, I'm sure.

If anythig should disqualify this man for the office of President, this is it.

I don't like using such common terms, but what a whack job.

I think McCain's latent PTSD, his volatile temper and now this easy/sleazy association with every evangelical fringe group is enough to make bush look rather "normal".

I shudder to think of an administration filled with these "advisors" all the while "hot-headed" McCain, with his finger on the bomb, bomb, Iran button ready to bring on the apocolypse.

I think because he was in Hanoi he feels the world owes him and has the enormous sense of entitlement. Because of this he is extremely ego-centric and absolutely maniacal to the point that he would bomb or destroy a country that offends his "Do what I say or else" attitude.

Parsley is horrifically anti-Catholic, as well.

This man is not speaking with full use of his intellect. Or, maybe he is.

McCain will lose if Parsley continues to make denigrating comments.

Good job McCain. I sure hope that target on his foot is not too uncomfortable since he's so adamant about wearing all the time. Is it made of kevlar or concrete? Oh, and couldn't agree with him more on destroying false religions..but it why the redundancy?
