Let's all bash Obama's earmarks and ignore the fact that Hillary will not release hers. Why? What does she have to hide? Let's see his earmarks and her earmarks side-by-side for all to see. The same with tax records and campaign donors.

After the interview with Major on Fox....Hannity, Fleisher and Blankley immediately twisted Obama's words and misrepresented what he had just said. Hannity does this all the time. (When he was characterizing the former 70's weathman who lives in Obama's neighborhood and teaches at the U. of Chicago, he stated this guy and Obama were good friends and that he was a known terrorist who blew up the Pentagon...wrong!). They also try to conflate Obama with Farrahkan who also lives in Chicago and was given an award at Obama's church for community service. Farrahkan is 78 years old, ill and at one time made some inflamatory comments about Isreal. He also said that he was abducted by aliens taken on a space ship and told that the world was going to destroy itself. For all his stupid remarks, he has done a lot of community service work in Chicago and raised a lot of money for the poor. The million man march has been widely touted as a positive event.
Churches who are centered in Christianity are forgiving of people like Farrahkan, in the spirit of the teachings of Christ. A good practice for everyone, even the haters on this blog.

Obama, by his own admission, has been too busy campaigning for President over the past 2 years to do his job as a Senator. The Obama/Clinton list can't be compared considering how much more time Clinton has spent on the job. Obama likes to accuse the other side of a variety of tactics and act like he can do that because he isn't employing the same underhanded methods. If this isn't "cherry picking" I don't know what is.

Keith Boykin, a young black male Democratic strategist went on MSNBC TV on Friday and said, in defense of the Wright/Obama relationship, that black ministers in black churches all across this country are preaching the same racist message on behalf of the Obama campaign every Sunday. 90/10 split in Mississippi could support that claim. But, Obama tries to throw the race card on the Clinton camp and is just hoping to make it stick.

Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun Times is incredibly biased against Obama. Her columns read as if they were written by the Repub Natl Committee. I've seen her on TV a few times and she's one of the ugliest looking journalists covering the 2008 race

the biggest problem with earmarks is that most people don't understand how they work, and nobody bothers to clear it up either. you mean he included earmarks benefiting huge employers in the state he represents, like hospitals? if that's not the height of corruption i don't know what is.

At least on the surface, I don't see anything wrong with those earmarks. More generally, this whole anti-earmark thing of McCain, and now supported by Obama and Hillary, is just election year politics. I know many earmarks that are really worthwhile. I am sure there is abuse of the system, like the bridge to nowhere, but that doesn't mean that the system is bad.

Obama has never said he is perfect. And no one thinks or should think he or anyone else ever is.
He has been daring and unusual in releasing to the public all of his earmarks, all of his tax returns, not taking any money from lobbyists, completely denouncing his own minister, admitting to and denouncing and regretting any connections to Rezko, and admitting to imperfect actions related to his private life as a youth.
Now lets look at the Clinton record in this regard. Clinton still refuses to release even the OLD tax returns, refuses to release the names of donors to the Clinton library (potential conflict there as an issue), and refuses to release the logs of the correspondence and meetings she had as First Lady. No one is perfect here.

It is part of a politician's job to secure earmarks for projects back home so why should Obama be any different

The nerve of that guy, Obama! This is the last straw! Now he is helping a hospital! How dare he! And, how dare he request support for the very folks who have supported him. Terrible! He must be the very first guy to ever do that! I'm sure glad Hillary is much better than Barack on this issue!

I have carefully reviewed his ENTIRE list of earmarks. I like Obama, and his earmarks. I don't like earmarks generally, because they make the bills dirty and confusing - they should be broken out into seperate bills.
