Daily Mail:

Puffing on a cigarette is not the most sensible thing to do when you're battling cancer.

But if, as reports suggest, Patrick Swayze has only a few weeks to live, he may think it makes little difference.

The once-athletic star of Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and action films such as Point Break looked gaunt as he dragged on a cigarette while waiting for his private plane.

I was a pack and a half a day smoker and quit smoking in one 30-minute treatment with laser therapy. I went to a company called Freedom Laser Therapy that provides a painf ree low-level laser procedure which helps alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms. The staff at Freedom Laser Therapy is dedicated and passionate about helping smokers end their nicotine addiction.

I would really recommend laser therapy to help you quit smoking. Go to their locations page to find a Freedom Laser Therapy clinic or a local quit smoking laser therapy practionioner in your area. http://www.freedomlasertherapy.com

The man is dying. He's not going to live another 10 years if he quits, he is dying. Let him do whatever he pleases if it makes him happy or content. This is a horrible way to die, but most of us won't have the knowledge that "the end is near" so that we can say goodbye, or enjoy things one last time. Most of us will never see it coming. Let this man enjoy what time he has left in peace and privacy please. He's losing his life, don't take away his dignity as well.

one of the saddest moments of my life was watching my brother, at age 55, given a death sentence from lung cancer. after a few seconds of awful silence, he turned to the doctor and said, "i guess i can go back to smoking now.,"

Cancer from cigs was never a big problem till the tobacco industry started messing with the tobacco to get and keep people addicted.

Too many old coal miners smoked and lived to be 100 years old cancer free till filters and nicotine remixes were allowed to be sold as cigs.

That picture of him makes me very very sad. At this point, it probably wouldn't make a difference if he quit smoking. If he has pancreatic cancer, he should do whatever it is that gives him enough pleasure to live and fight to see another day.

No they don't have any shame. And they also are very ignorant. Does it really matter or even make sense to quit if your cancer is incurable? Evidently it makes him feel good so why not enjoy?

I wouldn't even have known that was Patrick Swayze in the picture if his name wasn't next to it. He doesn't look good.

Um.....pancreatic cancer can take you out in a matter of days or months. If the guy wants to snort 5 grams of coke, I say he gets 6. Give him a break. Is this what 7 years of the shrub has done to the people of this nation? Nothing more than a judgmental bunch of prigs? CHRIST ALMIGHTY.

Every time you think the media can't reach a new low they do. Leave this man alone.

The Huffington Post is becoming as low as any other tabloid.

My best friend of thirty years had not smoked for fifteen years and when he got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer he started smoking as he left the doctors office.
Who are we to judge anyone.
Whatever you need to cope with a death sentence like that is all right with me.
Enjoy every sandwich Patrick and thank you for all those years of fine entertainment.
We're pulling for you.

Bumper stickers are often moving statements of truthisms: "We do have a cure for cancer: smoking cigarettes"
