Just 31 percent of Americans approve of how President Bush is handling his job, according to a poll released Wednesday, the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war.

Sixty-seven percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey disapprove of the president's performance.

The 31 percent approval number is a new low for Bush in CNN polling, and 40 points lower than the president's number at the start of the Iraq war.

Some of the "end-timers" must be losing their homes.

Sing along . . . "How low can you go? Hoooow loooow can you go?" ba ba ba ba . . . . .

A PEW research poll had him at 19% a few weeks ago. THAT was supposed to be his lowest poll rating ever. I'm missing a descriptive word addressing the difference in the polls no doubt . . . .

And the Congress fairs even worse with a 20% rating. Why is that? Could it be that most people think more highly of Bush that the Democrat run Congress? Why are you not touting that? Nancy and company have done nothing positive but continue to praise themselves while denigrating Bush. So some of those chickens may come back to roost come election day.

Its even worse than 31% when you consider most of those people are just "somewhat favorable". This poll didn't show the breakdown but previous ones did and it would be something like only 12-15% of Americans have a strongly favorably opinion of Bush. That's probably the same percentage as the number of uneducated sock-sniffing child molestors like Bill O'Reilly and admitted fascists - both a big portion of Bush's tiny base.

I am sorry but I must have missed the memo did you say that if I disagree with you I must be uneducated, sock-sniffing and a child molester (note correct spelling)? I don't fit those qualifications I guess I will just have to turn in my conservative credentials and become a right thinking liberal idiot, Not. The base isn't as tiny as you would like to believe. Don't look know but we are your neighbors the people that let you in line in front of us, wave you into traffic in front of us and always say thank you even to fools.

Thirty-one percent! 31 percent! 31%

Now there's your legacy. Live with it because you created it.

Hopefully this legacy will haunt you all your remaining days and cast a shadow over the entire Bush family for eternity.

Bush keeps yelping 'I'm like Truman! I'm like Truman! Truman had low approval ratings too" Maybe he's right. Bush kicked a top commander out of his post in the middle of a war, just like Truman did, and he's likely to drop atomic bombs on population center's, just like Truman did.

And Truman is now thought of as one of our better Presidents. Not the same opinion that history will have of either Carter or Clinton.

Mike,

comparing Truman's decision to drop the A-bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to Chimpy's malfeasance of a war in Iraq is apples and bowling balls. Truman'
s decision was a valid one to end the bloodiest war in human history in the face of fanatical Japanese resistance. I happen to be a Military Historian, so I am more than prepared to back this up; one does not judge the past with modern eyes.

Dear Leader Chimpy on the other hand is our problem. His legacy will be one of infamy; History's judgement will be anything but kindly or gentle.

Chimpy and his Bushevik partisan are truly the lost and the damned.

For a little perspective, recall that Richard Nixon"s approval rating in the summer of 1973 (when the Watergate scandal was in full swing) was 39%.

The major problem with the 31% is that its about 30.7% to high - if you take away his immediate family, relation, Dickie "Deferment" Cheney and his family - plus all the CEO corporate whores, their stock holders, and the Repugs in Congress his numbers should be in the red!!!!!!!!

Here is one who doesn't make a whole lot of money, doesn't get corporate, family, or welfare handouts but understands that you must work for your money and that you should put in a days work for a days pay. I have no relationship with Bush, Cheney or there families but I still believe Liberals are not evil, just misguided. People like you seem to feel that they are owed something besides opportunity and look down their noses at people that don't fawn over them. Happy Easter, He died for your sins as well.

Why do resort to painting labels on others?

Why do you want to support a President who has lied, systematically attempts to destroy the very Constitution he was sworn to uphold, and wasted a trillion dollars not getting Bin Laden?

Oh and Bobby, you forgot these:

- he vetoed SCHIP, 15 million kids out of health insurance.

- gas was $36/barrel when he took office, now is $110/barrel

- tried to outsource our port security to Dubai

Congress has been getting low grades long before Pelosi and Reid. That is no longer news.Compare that with Bush going from high 80's to 31% is current news.Even with all that went on with Bill Clinton he still went out as highly favorable. As a matter of fact had he been allowed to run for a third term he would have most likely been elected.

Two illegitimate presidential elections for this Commander-In-Thief: Florida in 2000 via Katherine Harris, brother Jeb Bush, Counterpoint and the conservative Supreme Court and Ohio in 2004 via OH Secretary of State Blackwell, Diebold voting machines and lines of would-be Democratic voters in queue in underserved progressive precincts. Read Armed Madhouse by noted Emglish journalist and author Greg Pallast regards the less familiar Ohio rigged election (taser not included). 6% of the public are sociopaths. Probably 5-10 % have very low IQs. There cannot be another 15% on the take engaging in War Profiteering and Oil Gouging. So where do all these numbers really come from?

31% seems incredibly high ... someone is fudging the numbers big time.

I have yet, and I ask a lot, find ONE person who is';t just plain ashamed of having Bush as President.

The other day, Obama gave his speech ... may have been way over America's head at this point. Man, have we been dumbed down or what? I heard Bush the next day and it was like losing 35 IQ points just listening to him rattle on.

31%? No way ... America has been dumbed down but not THAT friggen badly yet.

"31% seems incredibly high ...31%? No way ... America has been dumbed down but not THAT friggen badly yet.

Hard to believe, isn't it! TRAGIC, but probably TRUE.

"I heard Bush the next day and it was like losing 35 IQ points just listening to him rattle on."

When "God" speaks, Bush listens. SCARY! Perhaps rejecting & denouncing HIS "Spiritual Advisor" might sharpen his decision-making skills? Drastic times call for drastic measures!

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

the only thing you can be certain of is that the 31 percent are viewers of fox..you can also be certain that the combined i. q. of these people probably doesn't rise above plant life..after watching sen mccain the past three days, i'm sorry to say, he just might be dumber than bush.. how scary is that?
