Larry Craig Challenger Changes Name To "Pro-Life"

A Senate candidate has legally changed his name to Pro-Life and will appear on the ballot that way this year, state election officials say.

As Marvin Pro-Life Richardson, the organic strawberry farmer from Letha, 30 miles northwest of Boise, was denied the use of his middle name when he ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2006 because the state's policy bars the use of slogans on the ballot.

If his only Gaol is to defend the Unborn then he is Not "Pro Life', More appropriate would be "Pro Birth" without regard to what happen afterwards.
Now if Marvin is a real "Pro Life' advocate- that which happens to people after they pass through the Birth canal- Well he will have some competition for such a widely held Identification .

loball: Great post. Unfortunately there are a lot of "phony Christians" that do just that, they vote base on one or two issues; everything else to them is a non-issue. I know this for a fact; I have several in-laws that only vote republican because they claim to be pro-life and anti-gay. It is so obvious they are not really pro-life if they support the Bush Oil war in Iraq and certainly not anti-gay, look at Senator Larry Craig, Senator Lindsay Graham, Congressman Foley and Senator Vitter. Hypocrites all; who are lying to, and misleading so many gullible Americans. The attention span of many Americans appears to be the length of an American Idol show. They also never read or listen to anything that does not support their view of life. That is why Bill O’Rielly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill Savage and so many right wing bloviates have huge audiences. Look at Fox news, they are extremely biased, they should be embarrassed to call themselves “fair and balanced”. These people seem to have no shame.

Don't give up on Idaho. They have a lot of people moving there and it is moderating the state. I live in Oregon and other than politics...the people from Idaho are a friendly bunch. We like them a lot. They have had a run of idiot politicians and I predict the neocon dictatorship will start to fall this election. Be patient.

I live in SE Idaho, these Morman's who run Southeast Idaho and are in office are a bunch of wack jobs, there's a guy who believe it or not was elected and said "Women who get breast cancer do so because they had an abortion, and everyone knows that abortions cause breast cancer". That's what were dealing with folks! Toe tapping, wholly then thou mormans who think that Joseph Smith is God.
I think the only way were gonna rid ourselves of these leeches are through attrition.

As an Idaho native, I can tell you politics in Idaho is both very simple and very complicated. South Idaho is dominated by Mormons which typically are single issue voters i.e. pro-life candidates only. I live in Moscow, the university town in the state, and we as a community are pretty progressive. The panhandle to the north is both conservative and libertarian. Western politics are a bit different than what you see on the east coast, in the midwest and in California, a country unto itself. People in the inter-mountain west basically don't like to be told what to do. We carry guns (even the lefties) and harbor a healthy distrust of the government. We have historically elected some great leaders (Cecil Andrus, Frank Church) and some just plain awful ones (Craig, Bill "Dumbest man in Congress" Sali). I think (and hope) we are making the turn back to electing good people. You have to understand that the west was "won" by extractive industries (timber, mining, ranching to a degree) and the conservative, private property rights attitudes this bred are deeply ingrained. It can be overcome but it will take time.

I live in Idaho -- it is the black hole of ignorance in our nation. Idaho is a state where you will find one of the highest percentages of Bush support in the nation. If you look at a satellite photo of the U.S., you'll see a huge blank spot where Idaho is supposed to be. Yep, I've lived in a number of places in the U.S., and this is without doubt the most backward state I've ever lived in.

There are some liberals here, people who actually think, but they are often difficult to find unless you are centered around one of the colleges here.
