More than 7 out of 10 Americans think government spending on the war in Iraq is partly responsible for the economic troubles in the United States, according to results of a recent poll.

In the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted last weekend, 71 percent said they think U.S. spending in Iraq is a reason for the nation's poor economy. Twenty-eight percent said they didn't think so.

The books are cooked and the numbers rigged. Government numbers will always paint a rosy picture because they create the reality and a compliant and lazy press feeds it to the American people. Most people know nothing about macro and micro economics. Most American's can't even balance their own check book. We are a very ignorant people when it comes to money, banking, credit and business. But here's a simple test. Look around and ask yourself, are you, your family and friends doing better or worse than they were 8 years ago? Are your wages up? Are you working more or less to maintain your standard of living or just keep up? Are you paying more or less for groceries, commodities, gas, oil and electricity than eight years ago? Are you paying more or less for health insurance and medications/medical care? Are your children learning more or less in the classroom? Can you still afford to send them to college? How long could you survive if you lost your job tomorrow due to an economic down turn, outsourcing or medical catastrophe? What is your own reality, not the one Bush and company insist on selling you? If you're really doing better than you were 8 years ago, earning more and working the same or less, able to maintain a better standard of living, then the Republicans and supply-side, trickle down economics has worked well for you. But if you're not and for some reason you still trust your and your families future, as well as that of the nation to Bush and company, then you need intense psychological counseling. I'm still waiting to be trickled downed on, but I have a feeling the only trickle I'll experience is Bush and company continuing to piss on me and tell me it's only raining.

When somebody "loses" 12 billion dollars (200 boxcars filled with $100.00 bills) you'd think that they'd be suspected of at least, incompetence.

Not this bunch. The 12 billion was a trial run. And the msm, willing accomplices in all of this, don't even notice let alone do any kind of serious investigation. Where would we be without the supreme court and the msm?

Huh? You mean killing off our young people, funneling away billions of dollars and charging all of us outrageous fees for gas and other necessities hurts the economy? Where do they come up with this stuff?

We would be better off building pyramids,
At least we could get tourists from Europe to come for the sight seeing and to spend some Euros.

The "fed" caused the "great" depression by printing out money 24/7 & using some of it as loans on a margin (can be called in at any time and have to be paid off within 24 hrs or forclosed on). Once the dollar was getting shakey, they called in the loans which caused a run on the banks & the depression. America's industrial base helped pull America out of the depression.

America's industrial base is being sent over seas. The "fed" is at the roots of the mortgage crisis (AND every depression, resession, inflation, & war America has ever suffered-since even before they were the "fed") & stopped telling us how much money they're printing out (WANT TO GUESS WHY?). http://groups.msn.com/impeachbushcheneyusurpation/marketmeltdownpolicestatenoaccident.msnw

Barring another, worse, NUCLEAR 9/11 (which the bu$h/cheney usurpation et al has REPEATEDLY TRIED & FAILED TO DO), a FINANCIAL CRISIS in America could enact UNCONSTITUTIONAL FASCIST POLICE STATE EXECUTIVE ORDERS. http://groups.msn.com/impeachbushcheneyusurpation/usurpationsattacksonourfreedoms.msnw

I WON'T VOUCH FOR PART ONE YET PARTS 2 & 3 ARE EXTREMELY ACCURATE: http://zeitgeistmovie.com/dloads.htm

I read that hitler only had 30% support.

Figures, considering that the bu$h/cheney usurpation et al is following the SAME playbook as hitler.

Except that hitler MAY have been DULY elected.

I think to wage war the government has to stimulate the economy. To do this, the Fed has to lower the interest rates on U.S. treasury bills. But with low interest rates, oil is treated like a commodity--so it is stored rather than refined. In other words, the more oil that is stored, the higher the profit. As the oil is sold--at high prices--oil profits soar. The only way to bring down the price of oil is for the Fed to raise interest rates so commodity traders will go to treasury bills and dump the oil making it cheaper. Right now, since the Fed as lowered interest rates to stimulate the economy to keep it from going into a recession--expect the price of oil to go way up. This is just a repeat of 1985. Mark my word, if the Fed raised interest rates to 7.5% the price of oil would be much less expensive. The Fed is going in the wrong direction. It is fueling inflation and, by implication, putting a tremendous strain on home owners. It is all for Wall Street and war.

When he retired in December 2004, the AP News Service quoted Moyers, "I'm going out telling the story that I think is the biggest story of our time: how the right-wing media has become a partisan propaganda arm of the Republican National Committee. We have an ideological press that's interested in the election of Republicans, and a mainstream press that's interested in the bottom line. Moyers said: Therefore, we don't have a vigilant, independent press whose interest is the American people

70% I guess you can call it a "du-uh" moment. You mean if I throw my cake down a hole in the desert that I won't be able to eat it? I know, maybe if we can give our money to a bunch of oil sheiks and Texas oil barons, then it will come back to us. I wish it were only chickens coming home to roost.

Only 70%?

Guess the other 30% are scared of a woman or a black man being the next President, so they try to make themselves believe that Bu$hie is doin' a heckuva job. Morons.

Being that he & his "cohorts" ("Typhoid Pixie", MichiganJFrog, GrouchoMarxist (who used to be a cool guy) "neoknot", LeftCoastLefty & the rest of their clique are primarily responsible for the blatant CENSORSHIP that is now Huffy), it's no surprise that they have become "un-people".

It had NOTHING to do with foul language, nor even their inane "banter" that had ostensibly turned this site into something resembling a junior high school girls locker room.... it DID have to do with them CROSSING THE LINE & ACTIVELY trying to sabotage another posters livelihood (thereby instigating a civil action and an FBI investigation)..... simply because they felt he was obnoxious..... while viciously savaging the ONE PERSON who had the audacity to defend his right to his own thoughts on the principal of free speech & NOT out of agreement with his OPINIONS.

"True Liberals" all........ yeah, right.

Good riddance.

Whew & amen. I read this a day or 2 after the fact. Good one. Maybe you should repost on other threads over the next month or so?

So that people know the truth?

Just thinking out loud.

And your last statement: ""True Liberals" all........ yeah, right."

Bingo.
