How Obama Became President Of YouTube

A 38-minute clip of Barack Obama's speech on race has more than 2 million views on YouTube (GOOG) since it went up two days ago. How'd that happen? Well, Obama has an inherent appeal for YouTube nation, and the speech is in the news, so that helps too. But we're guessing it may have gotten a professional push or two as well.

In a self-congratulatory piece in Ad Age, "video view optimizer" Josh Warner explains how his outfit, Feed Co., helped promote an earlier Obama video on YouTube, at the behest of ad agency Deutsch. There's no special sauce here, at least based on what Josh is saying. Just lots of spam:

He needs an add featuring squeaky clean white supporters of reknown with working class cred voicing support for him. they should say. he is for all americans.he is not running for pres to give handouts to people who lack personal responsibility. but for all the stand up people who work hard. he is here to make the government work hard for them. to help them keep their jobs. to reward the military families and vets for their sacrifice and bring a sensible and reasoned end to the war..

they should say he is not running for an old divisive america. but an america that treats all people with respect. where everyone accepts and fulfills their responsibilty to themselves, their community, their family and their country and expects the same from their government.

he needs a slew of people like this... respectable and thoughtful people to appear in an ad for him and voice their support openly... so those nitwits who cannot think for themselves will see who the choice of the thoughtful and informed is. and maybe then we can put these non-patriot, black panther, manchurian muslim demons to bed.

also he needs some respectable white friends to stick for him and say he is a lifelong friend and believes his vision for america....pity it has come to this.. but it is the 11th hour

I have listened to the speech three times already but each time I do it, it hits me like a bolt of lightening. What an incredible speech; what an incredible man. The speech is extraordinary. Obama in his speech said not to pay attention to youtube soundbites because you don't get the full picture on youtube, but he did not mind when people where falling over themselves watching will.I.am video telling us "Yes We Can." So Youtube bad when it hurts him, but good when people love him.

I have to add that Obama thinks that "We Can" do pretty much about everything. We can end the war, cures Aids, walk on water, but "We Can't" get a Michigan and Florida revote. Again, how convenient.

I, for one, have been in countless White Evangelical (Moral Majority) congregations over the past twenty years. . .in many states. Bigger churches than Chicago's Trinity.

I have heard the Same Fire & Brimstone. I have heard the US Supreme Court damned and Justices called "instruments of the Devil." The Lord was invoked in Hatred.

I have heard Congress called "Satan's Lair" and a "Godless Criminal" bunch of cowards.

I have heard America cursed for Her Sins. Her fall predicted.

Why is it OK for white pastors to Preach such Fire, but not Rev. Wright?

Dear 61 year old white guy : )

I fear Sir, because this was a targeted effort by those who truly fear (with all their hearts) the very idea that a black person would be President of this country. Like you, just for the sake of balance and fairness, I would like to see or hear an entire sermon... but that is not their intention. It is however, for the rest of us to use our sense of what "feels" right in this entire situation and whilst, the Rev. Wright's approach would not be mine, he has the constitutional right to say and feel however he chooses... I think we all glossed over that point too.

I believe in a Divine plan and the beauty I am seeing today is that as painful as it was and is for Barack Obama, there is a more honest and meaningful conversation taking place about our coming together, (out of the many we become ONE), after our history of racial divide. At the end of the day.... the lessons will prevail.

Evangelical preachers like ones endorsing McCain like to to say American is being punished for being evil nation, nation of sin, etc. when taking about 9/11 or Katrina.

All preachers at some point have said something to the effect that America has a lot to answer for, etc.

Even the late great (as in great inflated baloon) Gerry Fallible used to get off on that riff that America is being punished and deserves to be punished for her evil-du-jour.

So, how come it's only an issue with Rev. Wright and not the ones endorsing the Repiglicans??
