Terrible spring floods have been devastating the midwest over the past few days, killing 13 people and displacing thousands more in Ohio, Indiana, northern Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas, and there are fears that the worst is yet to come. You'd think that news reports about such things would be read in appropriately somber tones, given the severity of the situation. Or maybe not! This morning, "Fox and Friends" anchor Gretchen Carlson was so excited about the first day of spring that she couldn't contain herself. "Guess what? It's the first day of spring! Yoo-hoo!" Chirped Carlson. "But it's not so great for some people in the country — heavy rains have swollen rivers and streams and across the Midwest - 13 people have lost their lives — we're going to tell you why the worst may be yet to come." In the background, an upbeat tempo underscored the chipper morning feel, matching Carlson's tone, if not the news story she was sharing with her viewers. Odd. Perhaps she's been getting tips from Ainsley Earhardt?

her lips are not thin enough to make it in the joyless, sexless republican women's circle, but her poor sense of proportion might make up for those qualifications. LOL :)

With luck, she's simply medicated.

Gretchen I agree had a bad lead in to a sad story, but I have seen much worse on NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, Daily KOS, New York Times, LA Times, and on and on and on.

This sad, 'but not unprecedented'. I have seen this disjointed performance on local Los Angeles TV stations.
Also, it seems familiar so I think I heard the same lead-in on NPR. ('Spring! But not for flood victims...')

It seems to me that when I was clicking around between CNN and MSNBC looking for the Obama speech (so I don't know where the marble landed) there was a (dark-haired) woman, with a man, who gave a gleeful, cheeky smile/smirk to a story which shouldn't have had it, such as some bad news about Obama, I think it was.

I can't receive the video (wouldn't if I could) but this woman's face shows not a smile but a grimace, as if someone were holding her very tightly from behind and hurting her.

Sure it's insensitive how she says "yoohoo!" right before 'reporting' on the floods. But I can't stop laughing now whenever I watch it. That's how stupid it is. So stupid it's funny.

What happened to this woman, she used to be on the CBS Early show and seemed so sweet and pretty. Now she looks so old, cheap and speaks with such a forked tongue. So sad to see how working at Fox really changes people for the worst.

"We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam
in her eye
It's interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry "

WHAT AN IGNORANT JACKASS!

Maybe on a real news channel she would be reprimanded or something!

This is why we need to boycott fox news and their paid advertisers. Except for a few people, the entire cast is silly.

how on earth is this a story to be posted on Huffington Post ?. I never watch Fox because of dumb blonds like this gal and some other ding bats they have on, but when Fox makes headlines I take a look to see whats going on, to see what I missed if anything and wish I had missed this bit of stupidity

I watch her in this, and I watched her previously in her Obama bashing, and I have to say that this speaks to her intelligence and compassion or, in both cases, the lack thereof.

She is so annoying and phony... I can't stand to watch Fox and Friends. To Fox ... there's got to be some better talent out there.
