Dude Mister Washington

UPDATE: Check out Carville discuss cattle branders and Richardson in the same conversation on Good Morning America.

--

Democratic Strategist and Hillary Clinton supporter James Carville on Monday defended comparing New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson's endorsement of Barack Obama to Judas' actions in the bible, saying the comment was an "appropriate metaphor." Speaking to CNN's Anderson Cooper, Carville said that Richardson needed to be "singled out for special treatment," and that he was speaking for himself and not the Clinton campaign. Carville also said that "he and I know the reasons" why the Clinton ally considered the move so disloyal, and that "I knew what the effects of this would be and it was exactly as I predicted."

When Carville tried to tell Cooper that he was "not of the Washington world," Cooper retorted "Dude, aren't you Mr. Washington?"

See Cooper bust out the surfer lingo at about 1:30 into the video.

I see the Clinton Party hasn't changed since the Monica Lewinsky affair. It's "do your job" while in office, and AFTERWARDS "keep your mouth shut".

Clinton is going to do to the hispanic vote what she did to the African American vote. When Obama is elected, Carville will not be a sought out commentator on the Democratic Party that he remembers from 1992.

That is wishful thinking. Latinos can understand the pandering and know that Clinton is their nominee. Obama did this to make sure he does not lose NM and has a chance in CO if he is the nominee in the general and to try to convince the DNC that he has a chance to win given he runs much worse against McCain than Clinton does. Poaching Richardson should give Clinton the all clear to go after any Super delegates or Delegates since she won NM over Obama and given the rhetoric Richardson should stay in the Clinton column, another fact the bias media purposely omitted given their complete bias for Obama (Newsweek, MSNBC and CNN). On one hand they do not feel that this *rule* is flexible when it advantages Obama as it does with Richardson and NM, while at the same time they continue to put Obama lawyers on the air to say that the delegates should not change from whatever calculus is in the best interest of Obama.

Singled out for special treatment? That is really frightening!

I think Carville is more of a Judas to the Democratic Party when he called his wife on election night in 2004 to tell the Bush/Cheney team that Kerry was going to contest Ohio. After the Bush/Cheney camp heard about it, they adjusted their game plan, and blocked Kerry out.

Kerry conceded the next day.

Carvelle is sour grapes because he sees the writing on the wall and it will mean he's out of a job in the Clinton Admin. That's all this is about -- it's personal with him.

intuition, it's more than sour grapes as you note. There's that inherent arrogance not only of Billary, but the people around them. Carville can be deadly funny and witty. But, he too has that sense of entitlement. He's never been elected to anything that I know of, yet he feels free to "single out" a man who was elected governor, a man who has negotiated with foreign governments, for the Carville brand of punishment. Not a good idea, not smart, and reflects badly on both Carville and the Clinton campaign. Carville is beginning to sound and look like a desperate hanger-on...one who sees his star sinking.

Actually, Carville, Matalin, and Rove are from the same political generation. I lost my taste for this kind of politicking about 16 years ago.

It's clear that Carville is pushing the old ways. Fear has worked so effectively in the past. Many politicians refuse to campaign differently. This remark is geared solely toward the superdelegates and the Clintons. It's almost like saying "Do you see? Do you see? You could be a Judas too... you feeble superdelegates! Go ahead, I dare you to back Obama... I dare you." Then looking at the Clinton campaign with a smug look and saying... "That's how you do it!" So stupid. If these tactics prevail then all is lost... Oh maybe not... There still is that non partisan independent party! The democratic has a lot of serious decisions to make. I'll be watching.

I don't know why people are so offended, we use bible quotes and/or people in a lot of things.. "She's a jezebel" or "doubting Thomas".. I never really cared one way or another for Richardson when he was running except with noticing some arrogance concerning illegals.. I think that as much as the Clintons have DONE for Richardson, that it does surprise me that he would turn to the other camp... I also think that Richardson might have just made a deal with the "devil"...another play on biblical words.

I have considerable respect for James Carville but this is over reaching. Bill Richardson served under President Clinton, not Hillary. His appointment wasn't exclusive; this had to be mutually beneficial for both. OK, so, Richardson served honorably, his term ended, and game over. Now, if Richardson reneged on a pledge, well shit, that’s politics. You play dirty you get dirty; it’s simple.

The anger and self-righteousness of the Clinton's is scary. Be formidable but don't air your dirty laundry all over the airways.

Carville is cynical, petty, divisive and destructive for U.S. politics in general, not just the Dems, and he needs to go. Now. Someone please cancel his TV appearance contracts. This pseudo-biblical "Judas" garbage is just his latest poison. Like many cable-TV bomb-throwers, he lowers the political bar in this country and gets his jollies doing so, with no regard for the outcome and with zero concern for the actual challenges of our citizenry and the very real problems that need to be solved. If you need any evidence of that, just read some of the unthinking bile in the comments right here on this post. That type of hostility is exactly what people like him thrive on and encourage. No thanks, Mr. Carville. This country is done with people like you. We are desperately trying to lift our political discourse up, not drag it down into the mud where you like to play.

So, if Governor Richardson is Judas, then who is God, Hillary or Bill?

Or, perhaps, it's a Holey Trinity of Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and John McCain.

Don't buy an used Carville without first checking "Damaged Goods FAX".

Anyone know if Carville's "Judas" diss of Richardson has gotten any significant coverage in the Spanish language media in the U.S. southwest from California to Texas?
If it does then it's possible that Clinton's strength among Latino voters will take a significant hit. Too bad those contests are in the past. Don't know if the Puerto Rico press cares much about Richardson, but if the Carville meme gets carried into that contest then it would be interesting to watch what happens in the island polling there.

Obama campaign is SO DESPERATE that they are trying "TYPICAL" WAG THE DOG TACTICS:

1. First, they release a photo of the great William Jefferson Clinton with IMPASTOR-Wrong. Big deal, a President of the U.S. meets/greets many people during his/her term. Question here is did he spend 20 years at his church listening to divisive hate speech? Was he married in his church? Were his children baptized by him? Obama and his campaign's tactics are TYPICALLY very dirty, TYPICAL of a morally CORRUPT Politician whose message of uniting One America now proving to be a lie.

2. Second, with this b.s. passport breach news. I'm sure they knew of this long ago, but, Obama's campaign is trying to use it now to sway attention away from his IMPASTOR. It turns out all 3 candidates had their passports breached. Obama: Any videos out there with Chavez???

3. Then, they get this ZERO Bill Richardson to endorse Obama. A day late and a dollah short or should I say a PESO short, getting his endorsement is like having PESOS in your pocket, that is CHANGE that is not worth much at all!

4. In the meanwhile this BAMA (Obama) has no problem throwing his grandma under the Hawaiian Pineapple Tree...reminds me of a song: "Grandma got run over by a reindeer, walking home from our house Christmas Eve, you can say there's no such thing as Santa, but, as for Obama and his IMPASTOR they believe!"

Wow. The former Ambassador to the UN under Clinton is a "zero"; negotiated with the N. Koreans, Saddam, etc.- just what the Hell are YOUR credentials that you label this elected Governor a "zero"? Also, lose the racist horsecrap about "pesos"- either that or sign in to Fox.
Carville was way out of line- remember, he is the one who said the Democratic party needs people like Karl Rove- looks like he decided to fill that vacancy himself. These kind of poisonous comments will only help McCain.

Hey cheersdk, thanks for the post I agree with myself, let me add: Re: BILL RICHARDSON:

5. What a ZERO, pandering for a V.P. position, staying quiet not endorsing either candidate till he thought Obama would prevail in Texas and Ohio, then, calling for Hillary to quit the race before the people had a chance to speak in those states when it was still virtually tied just as it is now.

6. Now he endorses because Obama must have succumbed to get the media to talk about something else instead of Wright and promised him more than "30 pieces of silver" and a Sec. of State position.

7. Zero because Bill Richardson picked up all of ZERO delegates when he bowed out of the race just before his state's (New Mexico) caucus, because he did not want to be embarrassed in his own state. He didn't have the "cojones" to continue, Hillary does, she wears the "Pant-Suit"!

8. Bill Richardson is a former Clintonista, un-grateful and dis-loyal after Bubba put him on the map. Nobody wants him as a V.P., because being overweight, his girth is only good to occupy latitudes and longitudes on that map! "HE is the overweight lover in the house, the house...!"

So desperate for what? He already won the nomination? Your first and second points are not well thought out. Wright’s rantings are not reflective of Obama’s views on anything. Why did he stay in the church? Because he’s a black Chicago politician who comes from a mixed marriage and went to Columbia and Harvard. Suspected of not being black enough or sufficiently tied to the minority community, he needed the networking opportunities Wright afforded him in his church to get elected.
Bill Richardson a zero? He earned a Bachelor's degree at Tufts University in 1970, majoring in French and political science and was a brother and president of Delta Tau Delta. He went on to earn a master's degree in international affairs from Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1971. Richardson spent a little more than 14 years in Congress and also was the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, U.S. Secretary of Energy ,Governor of New Mexico, and an adjunct professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
The point he was making was not that his grandmother harbors any racial animosity, but that. "If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know (pause) there's a reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way." I am white and grew up in Chicago...this is typical of most white people walking down a dark road at night in the city regardless of the area.

You're Funny, but Pedantic ( hurry, go get your dictionary ).

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:07 PM on 03/25/2008

Thanks, let me add some more pedanticism by stating that BILL RICHARDSON is .

A. a ZERO, pandering for a V.P. position, calling for Hillary to quit the race before the people had a chance to speak in Texas and Ohio. Zero because Judas picked up all of ZERO delegates when he bowed out of the race just before his state's (New Mexico) caucus, because he did not want to be embarrassed in his own state. He didn't have the "cojones" to continue, Hillary does, she wears the "Pant-Suit"!

B. Bill Richardson is a former Clintonista, un-grateful and dis-loyal after Bubba put him on the map. Nobody wants Judas as a V.P., because being overweight, his girth is only good to occupy latitudes and longitudes.

C. What this JUDAS really wants is ONE BAMA (OBAMA) FOLLOWING ANOTHER BAMA (BUSH W.)!

E. What did this Judas sellout for?

>. 30 Pieces of Silver?
>. Chi Chi's Restaurant Coupons?
>. Membership to COSTCO?
>. Gift Cards to Taco Bell?
>. A lifetime super-size pass to McDonalds?

Who was Judas to tell Hillary to quit the race when there was still "time left on the clock"? That would be March Madness! Americans are not quitters, it's just not the American way. Hillary is a great patriotic American and she will be a great President!

God Bless America, yes, the 2nd word is BLESS, it's right there in the bible, let me repeat it: GOD BLESS AMERICA!

So he's basically comparing Hillary to Jesus?????? What the @#$%&* is he thinking????? Accept the fact that you lost already. Save yourself just a little dignity if there's even any left and quietly go away!!
