New York Apple Stores Sold Out Of iPhones

Huffington Post   |  Danny Shea   |   March 25, 2008 12:53 PM

New York may now have three Apple stores, but there's not a single iPhone among them.

Apple Store employees at all three New York locations — the original SoHo store, the 59th Street location, and the most recent addition, on West 14th Street — have confirmed that each store is sold out of iPhones, and they don't know when they'll be getting new ones.

"You can always go online," a representative from the 59th Street location said.

iPhones are also available at AT&T Wireless stores, and several New York locations we called currently have them in stock.

Why don't they just go to NJ or Long Island to get their iphones?

AT&T at Union Square HAS inventory. Perhaps the Apple stores ARE out, controlling inventory, but in NYC it's not as though there are any shortage of AT&T stores...

Tight control of the price depends on keeping production down and limiting inventory levels.

the article didnt mention how many torurist are buying the phones to send back home. I think the co. just want people to believe that inventory is low...it is probably not.

If the economy is so bad why are people spending money on iphones seems a little frivolous to me.

That's one helluva news story.

The cool thing is that the media hasn't been tricked into reporting what is essentially a silent clearance sale of the iPhone.
