Pellicano Trial: Bert Fields To Take The Fifth

Attorney to the stars Bert Fields will take the fifth amendment in the trial of Anthony Pellicano, Huffington Post has learned. Fields, who represents a bevy of Hollywood's biggest names, including Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer, has reportedly used the services of Pellicano over the years. The government has refused to give Mr. Fields "use immunity" because they believe that it is unnecessary as the statute of limitations has expired on claims that could potentially be made against the star lawyer. Mr. Fields, however, has indicated that if called to testify, he will take the fifth amendment. A hearing on the matter will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008.

Fields might be thinking about future appearances before the State Bar of California. Concerning Xander's response, I don't believe this was necessarily announced in open court; like the audiotapes of Love and Rock, this probably required some journalistic elbow grease to obtain.

You only plead the 5th on the stand. If you don't take the stand, you don't testify. You don't testify, you don't need to take the 5th. Like I said, anyone that was there knew about it.
