Are Ryan Phillippe And Abbie Cornish Expecting A Child?

Could Ryan Phillippe be having a third kid? He is currently a doting dad to the two kids he has with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon. Not normally known for breaking baby news, Fox 411 columnist Roger Friedman, a go-to resource for subjects like Michael Jackson and film festivals, seemed to drop some possible baby news in his column today. In a long, complimentary item about the new Kimberly Pierce Iraq film "Stop-Loss" he wrote the following:

Phillippe is not the only good actor working in "Stop Loss." Peirce has stocked the film with talent: Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are his army buddies, Abbie Cornish (whom Phillippe met on the set and is now apparently having a child with), and Timothy Olyphant are also featured to great effect.

Update:
And late Wednesday morning, he updated the story (see below for screenshots of the edit) to say Ryan is "rumored to have romanced" Abbie, not that he's "apparently having a child with" her. Wednesday night he filed whole new item complete with a "bleating" publicist (scroll for that).

No doubt in the interim, baby-story factories like People and Us Weekly scrambled to find out if that baby story is true. Cornish, 25, is an Australian actress who has also appeared alongside Russell Crowe in "The Good Year" and Heath Ledger in harrowing heroin tale "Candy."

I wrote, as an aside, that they were apparently having a child together. I thought it was a reiteration of known news. It was certainly not presented as a scoop... Alas, Abbie, whom most people don't know anyway, is not with child... Nevertheless I had to endure the obnoxious bleating of her publicist. I guess the idea is that if you're rude and keep talking over the person you called, the journalist will not write about the client again.

Cornish has avoided "Stop-Loss" promotion, presumably due to her relationship with Phillippe. The AP last snapped the Aussie in October of last year:

Young Hollywood romances NEVER last! Those actors just won't be faithfull, regardless of which actress they marry. Maybe that's why Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan are such a whores... they don't trust their peers to be loyal boyfriends, so why not just have fun w/ as many cute ones as possible?

Maybe the schedules of two stars being in two different places for months at a time with other sexually attractive people is the reason why they stray!
