Quietly, the storm over the hateful views expressed by Sen. Barack Obama's pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has blown away the most insidious myth of the Democratic primary campaign. Obama and his surrogates have charged that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has deliberately and cleverly played the race card in order to label Obama the "black" candidate.

Having injected racial posturing into the contest, Obama's "post-racial" campaign finally seems to be all about race and sensational charges about white racism. But the mean-spirited strategy started even before the primaries began, when Obama's operatives began playing the race card - and blamed Hillary Clinton.

Had she truly conspired to inflame racial animosities in January and February, her campaign would have brought up the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his incendiary sermons. But the Clinton campaign did not. And when the Wright stories and videos finally did break through in the mass media, they came not from Clinton's supporters but from Fox News Network.

so clinton supporters....this is what your looking at....to win the nomination....obama just got a few more superdelegates so its obvious she can't convince all the super-delegates left to nominate her....there will be nearly half wanting obama...and she will get the other half.....so those are the facts the clinton campiagn is looking at and as you can tell there not good, which is y some have opt her drop out...cuz its kind of obvious its gonna be hard her to win....

4. what happens to the clintons supporters if she loses??? r u guys gonna split the democratic party cuz she didn't win or are we gonna unite to defeat them damn republicans???

I think we all can agree despite our disagreements of both the candidates.....that a republican doesn't need to be in office.......EVER AGAIN

allright i'm gonna say a few final things on this blog and this solve this whole obama-clinton-mccain..........argument.....

1. People have a terrible view of george bush....obviously
2. Mccain is gonna run the type of campaign bush ran....thats a dooser cuz people don't want anything more dealing with george bush.....the republicans have lost there fire cuzza bush, and won't get enough votes to win the white house....democrats have came in by the numbers and have broke many records in these states.....and also they have made a point just by the turnout they're not going back to a george bush government....thats final

3. Clinton's lead is diminishing by the day....she doesn't have enough delegates to come back....even if she wins Pennsylvania by a landslide....she still has to win kentucky....where her numbers aren't that good.....north Carolina....where she is currently loosing.....indiana.....where the voters scream obama by the second....Oregon where 10000 republicans just switched over to democrat.....3500 of which belong to clinton....the other 6500 r wanting obama......

He dares to speak the truth!

Let the race wars unleash. :)

The day when AA folks can call this like it is? That's a real progress.

He most definitely played the race card. It obviously still works.

The said point?

McCain will win because Obama resorted to thisl

The Democrats HAVE to be complicit with the Republicans in this. It's a huge conspiracy! Otherwise why would the Democrats make sure we elect another Republican by focusing on Clinton and Obama as candidates?

It amazes me what kind of vile non-sequiturs get past the moderators yet other non-incendiary comments don't show up. Anyway, it is clear what upsets some Clinton supporters. It is classic racist thought. They truly believe that Sen. Obama--the black candidate as they have cast him--is inferior to her (and Sen. McCain). Any remotely objective person can not say this is true unless you buy into the Clintons' race baiting tactics. HRC clearly crossed the line when she said that both she and Sen. McCain ("the not black candidates") were qualified to be commader in chief but not her fellow ("the black guy") Democractic opponent. She showed us her hand when she betrayed the Democratic Party by making that statement.

To the misguided, of course Sen. Obama played the race card first. He had the gall to be a black man in the presidential race. So every time they look at him....there he goes again....playing the race card. Forget the fact that Mrs. Clinton was supported by a majority of African-Americans at the outset of the race. Forget the fact that he won that overwhelmingly non-black state of Iowa and other states with similar demographics. There he goes again...playing the race card by being black.

Shame on you, Sen. Obama.

Just to prove this guy is doing the same race baiting he did in The New Republic a month ago, but now he is doing it to help Hillary win PA.

This is the same guy righting the same column in another newspaper. He should be sued for breaking his own copyright. The argument did not fly in the New Republic it does not fly now.

I saw him interviewed after the first time he published this nonsense and he had the nerve to say it was a good strategy by Obama and the Clintons fell into the trap. He has no credibility whatsoever.

The interviewer kept on pressing him on Bill Clinton's SC statement trying to marginalize Obama and he had no answer.

This article is moronic. I find them it of any value whatsoever. It was the Clintons over and over that used subtle race-baiting statements to try to paint Obama as "just the black candidate." The writer of this article is a Clinton shill. White Clinton supporters have no credibility when it comes to identifying what is racist and what is not.

greejambri ... ( You said ) "It was the Clintons over and over that used subtle race-baiting statements to try to paint Obama as "just the black candidate." ..."
Subtle Race-Baiting... Hmmm, is that like a little bit pregnant? Speaking of Race, are you inferring a "Black" Candidate couldn't Win? Subtlety hinting a "Black" Candidate would be weaker? Or, not as successful?
( You also said ) "White" Clinton supporters have no credibility when it comes to identifying what is racist and what is not." Nothing subtle about that RACE based statement... "White" people have no intelligence when it comes to Race, huh? "White" People should NEVER be Elected to Office, because they had no Remote ancestor who was a Slave, so they can't understand? Oooops, that's a bad one because Barack didn't either.... My bad, sorry....
Do you suppose someday People will figure out skin color does not make one a black, or white, "Person"? That Personhood, is an equal creation of a Godly Nature and has no Color qualities... That a "Black" person is a Belief, not a Fact... That a "White" person is a Belief, not a Fact... How does one tell a persons "Color"?
Do you realize what a quandary you have created for Obama? Half "Black", half "White" one part of him can be Racist, but not the other... Half of Barack can never know what it's like to be "Black"... Dang, Barack passed some of that on to his daughters, too...

THE CLINTON INSURGENCY IS IN FULL SWING

WHAT ARE WE LOYAL DEMS PREPARED TO DO?

Fueling the current Clinton Insurgency against Obama AND the entire DEM party is the Clintons" belief THEY were robbed of this nomination.

This belief provides them internal psychic comfort and external rationalization for ANY and EVERY behavior we have seen and will continue to see RIGHT THROUGH 2012.

Only the naive think this ends at the Convention. After losing there, the Clinton Insurgency goes underground to further expand their support of McCain's candidacy. If unsuccessful, it moves to the Senate where Hillary as Lieberman REDUX, will practically caucus with McCain to deny President Obama any success.

Between Super Tuesdays Obama won 11 straight states; and the Campaign to Elect Hillary morphed into the Campaign to Defeat Obama via this new political Insurgency we are witnessing daily.
Indeed, Hillary's campaign is an undeclared death-struggle to deny Obama not the nomination (she knows that's already lost), but the Presidency and any media coverage that would aid him.

The goal is no longer winning. Victory is in prolonging the battle and denying the favorite his expected result, while spoiling it so that ultimate victory is worth less each day the Insurgency continues. This new Clinton campaign can only be by design of our Chief Democratic Architect, former President Bill Clinton, himself.

We all know this in our hearts. The only question facing loyal DEMS, to paraphrase Sean Connery from "The Untouchables": What are WE prepared to do?

The only question facing LOYAL Dems should be - how can shut down the war ,restore the economy , stop privatization of our public interests and clean house on the Repugs.?

I am prepared to support either candidate who becomes the nominee with that intention in mind.

bill clinton said nothing to offend black americans. obama was looking for something to play the race card and he picked what clinton said up and started claiming race. please. i feel the blacks are the most ungrateful and disloyal. what has obama done for black america, nothing. what have the clintons done, a lot. with friends like the blacks, the clinton's don't need enemies. beware of what you want, you may get it. the republicans don't care about the black, the clintons do.

yeah its real amazing how you say obama uses the race card when he is from both races...how can you be racist....if your moms white???he would then have to hate his own mother.....it goes back to the thinkin of the conservatives in the civil war....if you had 1% black in you, they considered you black.....even with white ancestry....as if white blood is too good to get mixed with black blood....the blood of slaves......denounce this clinton and mccain supporters and i know you will....how can you be racist mentally if your a bi-product of two races mixed....unless you deny part of your bloodline.....if thats the case everything that he does white, ceases to exist from him.....then you would have half of a man...instead you have a human being that has the best of both worlds....noone sees that....they also don't see that there views toward him using the race card....is of a old conservative view....if you have 1% black in you, your black....hes not fully black....so he can't fully use the race card...what people should be sayin is dude your half white....but you dont' hear that.....thats cuz hes not actively using the race card, or the people screaming this have the old conservative view of a slave....

What gets me with this article and the responses to it, is the selective memory of its author.
Let's take Barack Obama and replace him with John Edwards, who at the this time was also still in the race. Ask yourself if these two example of Barack race-basing himself.
1. Bill Sheehan did not just mention "cocaine use." He said that 'How do we know Barack did not only use drugs but sold drugs too?" Mr Sheehan said he did not think that, but Republicans may say that in the fall, and the Democrats. I'm sorry, I have heard of other presidential candidates using drugs, but not whether or not they sold them. I suppose there is a good reason that Mr Sheehan jumped to that conclusion.
2. President Clinton was asked by a reporter " Why does it take two Clintons to campaign against Barack? He was asked this before polls were closed in the South Carolina and there were no results yet. His response was Jesse Jackson won South Carolina. Huh? How does that answer the question? Again, put John Edwards name in that slot. Would it be the same response?
Please help me understand the meaning of The Clintons' responses.

I'LL JUST BE VERY HONEST HERE... I've said from the outset that I could support ANY ONE of the Democratic candidates with enthusiasm, though neither Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton would probably have been my first choice.

I'm amazed at how much I STILL DEEPLY RESENT the actions of the Obama campaign in the weeks surrounding the S. Carolina primary.
The gist of the article above is true............ I saw it,..... YOU saw it..........I know it..........and so do you.

I'd like to believe there was not a calculated plan in place to paint the Clintons as racists.........
I'd like to believe that.....

I'd like to believe that the folks saying those ugly things we ALL remember, just got carried away, or believed what others had told them.....
That being the savvy poilitician he is.........Sen. Obama merely saw what was happening and had to go with it ,.......just hardball politics......nothing personal.......
I'd like to believe that..........

Sen. Obama will get my vote .......(which is all he ever wanted)
It's going to take awhile to see whether my ENTHUSIASM can be restored...................................tm

I'm with ya on this one Tommy. Not only did I not interpret Clinton;s remarks as racist but only what it was : a statement about a previous A.A. candidate's run.I don't consider Jesse an insult as so many seemed too, he ran a very progressive campaign( comparable to Obama's in its supporters of all colors) with a platform based on eliminating social injustice and poverty for all people, something to emulate , in my opinion.Nor do I consider B.O.being called "Black" an insult, which seemed to enrage people. IF possibly this had been intended as insults I think B.O.'s campaign would have been head and shoulders to hold themselves to a classier standard. Bill Clinton saying Obama's stand on the war was "a fairytale "was classic politics, mild at that , tho' somehow twisted by his campaign into racism
It was at about this point where I really lost a lot of hope in B.O. and his "new" politics.

Rev Wright used the Clintons to stir up hostility to whites in Obama's church. I think Obama set a course for himself when he got married and joined the Trinity church. Then he used his mixed race to make whites feel comfortable that he was not angry or full of revenge. But it is a little embarrassing to know or be told whatever someone's blood line is unless it is a personal relationship. We don't do that in this country. One of the many ways in which Obama violates my sensitivity when it comes to being proud to be an American.

For some of us - being American is one of the only things we have in life. We want to be proud. Obama does not make me proud when he talks about his blood line. It is offensive.

Rev Wright is one of the architects of Black Liberation theology. It uses theology to justify violence by any non white person against whites. AA's and the radical left know this. Their energy to install Obama as the Democratic nominee has been a sham on the rest of us. We need to be unified around class issues against the Republicans in the General. Obama has us all divided on the basis of his blood line.

I really think a better fit for him in his quest for ascension is King of Kenya. We would grow to dislike him and fear him just because of his attitude toward us.

In what way did Rev W. justify or recommend violence against whites? You're way off there. as is your Kenyan remark.

I do agree we need to unify around class issues , but by running these two identity candiadates the Dem elites hope they can keep us from noticing that little factor, and we can keep ourselves busy arguing race and sex..I wonder if they planned it to go this far?
