Speaking to 60 Minutes' Lesley Stahl on Sunday, former Vice President Al Gore said that Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are courting his endorsement. And many Democrats are looking to the former standard-bearer to help end the increasingly bitter Democratic primary fight. But Gore said "I'm not applying for the job of broker." Watch the exchange below:

Gore also touched on other subjects in his interview with Stahl.

Watch the former Vice President discuss the Supreme Court decision that handed George W. Bush the presidency:

The new book, A Time Like This, provides a fascinating take on what could have happened if the Florida vote--269 people could have changed the outcome--had gone the other way.

Sorry, Al. Unfortuantely for you, the Spider-Man principle applies...

"With great power, comes great responsibilty."

If your party, needs your help as an elder statesman, then you have to jump in. You need not apply.

It was such an incredible loss for this country that Al Gore had the presidency taken away from him by the Rethuglican Machine, which sadly included the partisan SCOTUS.

Gore is smart staying away. It is clear that Dean and the DNC decisions have created this mess and to see that the DNC is in the hole after a record fundraising year is not encouraging.

The DNC along with so called news organization who act as if they themselves are in a campaign, when they should be reporting is meaningless if the DNC had not made such stupid decisions to selfishly keep power in the first place. For example, an amazing over reaction and short sighted stupid decision to the MI and FL situations and then to step aside when leadership was needed when the re-votes could be done within the stupid rules and funded by others. The DNC neglect to admit to the hypocrisy of the activists when they want don’t want the voters themselves counted, but want to stop delegates from voting their consciences.

Deans lack of leadership aside, it is amazing that would say that he does not want the Dems to make a stupid mistake in April!! A spin and cya combination! eeeyyeaaahhhh!

Today Brazile tried to say that if the Superdelegates did not vote the right way (Obama, duh) then this would be an outrage like 2000. Please! Gore is happy to stay away from the BS that makes the country worse, while he sees now how he can make the country and the world better.

If you don't want to be the broker, Al, then ENDORSE the candidate you feel is committed to combatting global warming, and help end the ridiculous waste of time, energy and money that this primary represents.

gore is riding high and he wont spend any of that capital by getting involved in this hillary gutter tactics.

of course he cant stand her but who can?

but look for more supers to come forward for Obama and look for hillary to increasingly go broke.

forget edwards . he will never endorse because he doesnt want to get one side mad at him.
to bad he doesnt realize his political days are over and take a stand.
but these politicians never change.
he could never win so he was allowed to say whatever he wanted .
had his message caught on he would have been destroyed by the press as they are now trying to stop Obama.

that alone is reason enoughto know that Obama is the man for the average american that wants
to see real change and a chance for their children to grow up in a country that respects them.

He says that "it demeans them a little bit" to suggest that global warming deniers are like those who refused to believe the earth was round way back when or, more to the point, like the crackpots who think the moon landing was staged.

No Al, it demeans them a lot, as well it should. These people need to know in no uncertain terms how truly foolish, stubborn, and downright stupid they are being when they deny that global warming is real, man-made, and the greatest threat we face today.

... this is how wars get started. Bush understood what intellectual cowards the DEMS were. He was able to pull the wool over their eyes, filling them with this perception that a loss isn't really a loss until you say it's a loss. If you never own defeat then it cannot be deemed a defeat. He pulled the wool over Clinton's eyes too... with the War vote. And she's learned from him.

The DEMS have allowed Clinton to move the goal post back as far as she wants. Cowards! Many of the uncommitted SDs don't have the courage of their convictions to come out and endorse because they believe if it didn't work in their favor then their political viability would be in jeopardy. The Dems who want to back Obama are afraid of the Clintons. She represents Bush. This is about perception and the uncommitted SDs have bought into the Clinton illogical logic. She paints the picture of a close race but it's all illusion... perception. She has a 5 percent chance of winning. She expects SDs to believe that it can be done, that she can complete this impossible feat and that if uncommitted SDs make a move toward Obama before the primaries are done then those uncommitteds who commit before this time will have made a fool of themselves if she should win. Remember, she was supposed to lose NH. And she had to win Texas and Ohio... except she didn't actually win Texas. What? They have allowed her to move the goal post yet again based on this fuzzy math she's filling everyone with and...

Cowards! Did you ever think about that is the real reason why the remaining Democratic SDs have yet to endorse. I'm not being funny or harsh but take the Iraq war for example. You have one candidate who authorized the war because she was afraid she's look like a coward if she didn't back the president. You have the DEMS who were swept into power by the American people only to let the president pass the buck to the next administration.

Al - the Chinese want to buy some carbon credits, and they also want to know how to set up a business doing this sort of thing.

Al Gore is a major force in the Democratic party. He may say that he's not "applying" for the position of broker, but the fact remains that his perspective or input would go a long way in resolving our current dilemma. His leadership is needed and his opinions will be respected. There just aren't that many "elders" in the party who carry the weight or "gravitas" that Al does. We need you, Al.

If you don't have anything to offer that is unique and that justifies stopping what you are currently working on, then there is no good enough reason to run for President. Good for you, Al Gore. You transcended the most powerful job in the world. Not alot of people in history have done that.

Why run for President if he can get rich off of his "carbon credit" scheme?
