Hillary Clinton opened up her press conference in Philadelphia today with a bold new challenge to Barack Obama (it was met by "guffaws all around from the press corps"):

"This has been a very hard fought race. We need to do something so that our party and our people can make the right decision. So I have a proposal: today I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl off. A bowling night right here in Pennsylvania. Winner take all. I'll even spot him two frames.

"It's time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted. And I'm prepared to play this game all the way to the tenth frame. and when this game is over the American people will know when that phone rings at 3am they'll have a president who's ready to bown on day one. So let's strike a deal and go bowling for delegates. We don't have a moment to spare.

"Because it's already April Fool's Day. So happy April Fool's Day everyone."

Thisdisgusting woman should have been forced to abdicate after her LIES over Bosnia were exposed.
That anyone is still supporting this person is a testament to a currupted system.

This bowling incident has received more press than I have imagined. I believe that it showed that Senator Obama would rather get to know people in their local environments by experiencing the things they do than pre-script every campaign moment. Isn’t that refreshing?

That being said, one can't help but believe that some of the motives behing her prank include subtly denigrating Senator Obama and diverting attention from the inconsistencies of her recent statements (Bosnia, NAFTA support, et.al.). If the purposes behind her statement were to honor April Fool's Day and demonstrate her sense of humor, she could have picked a different subject (e.g., self-depricating humor would have been safer) or shown empathy for the undue attention on placed on Senator Obama's bowling.

Hey, someone in this campaign who has a sense of humor! I love it! (I know Obama supporters have no senses of humor and don't "get" the joke but it's OK.)

We have a great sense of humor. You know what makes us laugh the most lately? That Bosnia sniper story. Oh, man, we're still laughing at that one!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:17 PM on 04/01/2008

She is so desperate to beat Obama at something! If she wins the bowling game, then she will say see, see, I am better, I am more electable, DNC should pick me as the nominee.

I'm an Obama supporter, and I thought it was funny. Much better than her "Rocky" analogy. Lighten up, folks--the woman got off a good one.

I saw the video of Hillary's april fool's joke, and all I can say is: Hillary, you're no comedian, this was one of the most poorly delivered jokes I can remember, and whoever wrote it should be fired. Stick with your usual uninspiring and tired tone - that suits you much better...

I can't stand Hillary, but I give her points for trying.

Her timing on SNL really impressed me (the $7000 acting lessons were NOT wasted!) But maybe she needs a little refresher course.

Those $7000 acting lessons are an even better deal when you don't pay the bill!

I am no fan of Hillary, but jeez, it was just an April Fool's joke.

So my candidate can't bowl. Neither can I.

I am an Obama supporter, and I thought it was funny too. And I thought it was hilarious that the media spent so much time on Obama and bowling. (They need something to do, I think.) Hey, it is kind of reassuring that Obama can't do everything.

Wow! Obamaphiles are completely lacking in humor, respect for other human beings, the ability to participate in civil discourse, and even a modicum of self respect - no self-respecting person would write the kind of tasteless garbage for public viewing that Obamaphiles produce in the blogosphere. And these are the people who keep telling us their candidate ranks right up there with the messiah! One has to wonder if Obama is so wonderful, how on earth does he attract a following so challenged in the social graces?

Have you read some of the comments from the Clinton supporters on this blog?

Let's be fair. Both sides have some real idiots posting on this site, it's important to try and keep things in perspective. Neither Obama nor Clinton should be judged by what the people that support them say on the internet.

And who might you be? And which Obama supporter said that he 'ranks right up there with the messiah'? Or are you just making that up? You should go find someone called Danbury, you two could be best friends. In the meantime, if you could state your objections to Obama and his supporters in a grown up way and minus the sarcasm, you will have a better time on Huff. If Obama supporters are sometimes rude, it's because of people like you---you and Danbury--- who bait them.

Kinda like someone who calles me an "Obamaphile" just because my political opinion differs from yours. Sounds like you're completely lacking in humor, respect for other human beings, the ability to participate in civil discourse, and even a modicum of self respect.

Really now. Neither Hillary clinton nor any of her supporters has claimed that solely by virtue of her personality and charisma she can clean up Washington, unite the country, and go forth and change the world. Neither Hillary nor her supporters has ever claimed that she can wave her hand over the United States and unite Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals, and bring about world peace. Only Obama and his followers make such claims. Therefore, it seems very strange and out of place for so called peace-loving Obama supporters to swarm the internet ridiculing and attacking the Clintons and their supporters at every turn. I mean Obama supporters were defending David Shuster's right to use the word "pimp" in slandering the Clinton family. The Obama camp has demonstrated again and again that they wil do anything to win - even going to the extent of smearing Bill and Hillary Clinton as racists, when the world knows the Clintons have long been popular in the black community. Obamaphiles took the low road as usual for the sake of votes. End of story.
