Sherri Shepherd Jokes About Diabetes And Amputation, Says Dieting Is Like Sex With No Orgasm

The View's Sherri Shepherd was on "The Tonight Show" last night. After caressing fellow guest David Beckham — and prompting Jay Leno to remind her that had only 20 minutes left — she told Jay about discovering that she had Type 2 Diabetes.

"Black people don't talk about diabetes that much," says Shepherd. "I never knew anything. I thought everyone had an uncle with a leg cut off!"

Leno and Shepherd commiserated over eating hamburgers wrapped in lettuce rather than a carb-heavy bun. "I think it's like making love and not having an orgasm," says Shepherd. "And the bun also works in the other one too," adds Leno.

David Beckham was highly — if shyly — amused throughout the conversation.

I think Sherri is a bit feather-brained at times, but she's so much more enjoyable to listen to the Elizabeth Hasselbach... and,

As a diabetic and a below the knee amputee, I found nothing wrong with Sherri's little diatribe... it had me laughing ot loud (LOL). So unless you wear a prosthesis, stick your finger two or three times a day, and can't eat anything that's even close to being good, mind your own business.

I'm trying to figure out the psychology of having mentally challenged people like this on TV and why ostensibly intelligent people watch. Is it kinda like the Springer show? People watch and say "I may have my problems but at least I'm not that stupid".......???

I think Barbara Walters is threatened by women who are smart or outspoken but I also think most network executives are men and they assume that women who are watching TV during the day must be housewives and they're all stupid or at least I think that is their theory because nothing else makes sense.

But I couldn't figure out why HP has SO MANY pieces on this show when there aren't that many people who watch it - there is something about The View on here almost every day but then I read that Arianna and BW are very close so I understand it now.

It is sad but true that Sherri brings nothing much to the View. I grew to strongly dislike Starr Jones because of her prima-donna, diva attitude but I have to admit that she makes Sherrie (and Whoopie too) look like a bumbling idiot. She (Starr) was usually the most knowledgeable about current issues. There is no strong counter to the right-wing Elizabeth who has been fooled into thinking that she is an intellectual heavyweight.
