Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spoke to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, making the case for the "unmistakable progress" in Iraq.

A telling moment in his remarks came when he was arguing why President Bush's surge "dramatically turned around the situation in Iraq." Just as he reached this point in his speech, MSNBC cut away to report on escalating violence in Iraq:

I feel that this "war" is a failure because there is not enough money being spent on strengthening the infrastructure for the iraqi people. I would consider there being progress, if we have the people on our side by improving their quality of life. Desperate people are terrorists, people who have something to lose are not.

anyone have a good grasp on exactly where all this money is going? Seems to me its all going into building that enormous base and protecting the oil.

It is up the military and supporters of military to call out and hold accountable those that are misrepresenting us and using their own service to hurt those that are still serving. The fact that you served in the military or even that you were a POW does not give you a "blank check" if you are making choices that are hurting military people! It does understandably have a lot of "pull" with veterans of all ages and groups. Knowing that John is willing to use this respect to further his political objectives first hurts me, and then it pisses me off. We must find better ways to explain this to those that have not served or had someone serve. John McCain deserves respect for being a POW, but he is lying to people for political reasons. Those that have fought in these wars must find better ways to fight these politicians. Perhaps John WAS 90% supporter of the military and 10% politician. Those numbers have flipped-flopped now.... along with John's positions on many subjects and issues. We must pay close attention and ensure others are doing the same. We must point out these facts that we are painfully aware of, but that they may not fully understand or comprehend. It is up to us to get this message out. One simple question begs an honest answer: why is John McCain NOT supporting the Post 9/11 GI Bill? A bill that will help military people.... period.

I get the feeling from Sen. McSame that he's entitled to be president. If I remember correctly, by his own admission, McSame, the POW, eagerly gave in to torture and collaborated with the North Vietnamese. A violation of the Code of Conduct.
Now, this senile collaborator assumes he must be the next conservanazi president. He has a hard time finding Iraq on a map. He wants to insult Russia and attack Iran. He wants more troops, yet his voting record shows he does not support funding for veterans. Creating more casualties of war, yet is not willing to help the ones we have now. Funny, but we have to take care of his butt even in the face of his being a "traitor". Sickening.

Four years of this senile old coot will bring more misery to this country.

He needs to be in an old folks home in Arizona.

Buck Fush.
