LOS ANGELES — Mary-Louise Parker has broken off her engagement to fellow "Weeds" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Parker, who plays an upscale suburban marijuana dealer on the Showtime comedy, ended the relationship with her actor fiance, according to a person close to the former couple. The person, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the relationship, said the couple had differing lifestyles, but that Parker holds Morgan in the highest regard and hopes they remain friends.

Morgan, best known for his recurring role as Denny on "Grey's Anatomy" and the deceased husband of Parker's character on "Weeds," began dating Parker in 2006. The pair briefly split last June but later reconciled. Parker, 43, and Morgan, 41, announced their engagement earlier this year.

Representatives for Parker said they do not comment publicly on the personal lives of clients. A representative for Morgan said she had no comment in an email to The Associated Press.

In 2003, a tabloid frenzy ignited when actor Billy Crudup left Parker while she was seven months pregnant with their son, then began dating Claire Danes. Parker and Crudup had been together since 1996.

Parker has previously been romantically linked to Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz and actor Timothy Hutton.

The fourth season of "Weeds" premieres June 16.

Enough of this! Failed relationships are the greatest contributors to Global Warming. Do you people care? Stop and think about what you're doing.

OK, these comments are hysterical. I have never seen Weeds, but I have long been a fan of Parker. She has a quirkiness about her, usually going for the more interesting roles. Never typical, always good, even if the material isn't. She sounds a bit crazy, from what I have read about her, but as long as I don't have to work with her, I will continue to enjoy her work immensely.

"Weeds" is a great show and Parker is pretty good on it. My kid went to her Alma mater, NCSA, and met her when Parker came to do a Master's class. My kid said Parker was disinterested to the point of being incredibly rude, drugged, or both. She played with her hair the whole time and answered questions with monosyllabic answers. I like her work, but my kid was so disgusted by her that she won't watch anything Parker is in.

Co-star? Correct me if I am wrong but didn't his character die in the first episode? In fact his death is the premise for the entire series.

I am very interested in where Nancy and her family end up after the Mexican gangsters she hired to burn out the hostile biker gang ended up burning down the whole neighborhood. Can't wait for the start of next season.

That is an understatement! She is so amazingly beautiful! Keep in mind she is 43 and she easily outshines some of the hottest 23 year olds around. Damn!

She's a Southern gal. They know how to take care of themselves. ;)

Seeing that she is a veritable gay icon -- she starred in Longtime Companion, Angels In America, & Fried Green Tomatoes among other gay classics -- I wonder if her line from the show about his character is true: "...so tight I couldn't get a finger up there." That certainly would be grounds for me to dump him.

Mary-Louise Parker? Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Who are these people? This is TV, right? TV is like a giant trash compactor which, for some strange reason, people like to watch. All the garbage continues to go 'round and 'round, continually getting re-ground and, occasionally, a Mary-Louise Parker or a Jeffrey Dean Morgan roll up to the surface only to be recycled by some other garbage.

You've never seen "Fried Green Tomatoes"?? Come on, that's one of the best chick flicks ever made! Parker played Ruth, the demure and loving Christian gal with a young son and nasty ex-husband who has a long platonic affair with Mary Stuart Masterson's tomboy character. To this day I fail to see how that girl didn't get an Oscar nomination for Ruth.

oh, to be sooooo above it all...

see a short film called "Quality of Mercy" if you need a Parker primer.

And, funny to find someone so above it all IN THE ENTERTAINMENT SECTION.

You should have watched Weeds before making your "comment". Not to mention the plentiful good television that's been available to you. If you choose to tune to garbage, you watch garbage.

I used to think all tv was garbage too, but that was back in the seventies when American tv was garbage. There are these things called cable networks these days that are not bound to produce nothing but inane comedies and annoying trite little morality plays. Weeds is better written and better acted that about 98% of cinematic releases over the past ten years. For you to dismiss it as garbage despite having obviously never seen it makes you look like a clown, not an intellectual.

You need to chill with some MILF-weed and stop your hating.

Who are these peopel? Well, Mary Louise Parker is a multiple award winning actress who has worked with the very best actors and directors in theater, film, and television, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been a working actor with a great reputation for more than 20 years. And you are someone with a chip on her shoulder. Now we've all been introduced!

If you're so above this, then why do you open and read the article? Go back to watching Legally Blonde 2, or whatever cinematic masterpiece you're into.

In that picture Morgan looks a lot like Javier Bardim. Parker is soo sexy. I dont know why her particular look drives me crazy but she does.
If you are looking for a tall, balding middle-aged man of modest means, call me.LOL

The nmost important thing I've never read, because I'm a drooling sheeple who's distracted by the lives of people who I will never know and who could care less about the fact I exist.

*Couldn't* care less. There's your grammar lesson for the day. There are plenty more to be had from just this one post of yours, but we'll start with the most basic.
