What Happens When You Bring Babies To Work

The United States and Australia are the only two countries in the industrialised world that don't have paid statutory maternity leave (there are exceptions in some US states). At least in Australia, though, your job is protected for a year; in America, even the leave protection only lasts for 12 weeks. It's an astonishingly backward state of affairs, like discovering that France doesn't have a postal service. A Harvard Study of 168 countries, measuring how different governments meet the needs of working families, found the US to be in the bottom five. But rather than do anything so tedious as campaign for reasonable terms, American lobbyists have instead thought more laterally, with a softly, softly, looky-after-baby approach: bring your baby to work with you. Until it can crawl, it can think of your workplace as liberty hall.

I love it! With a sense of humor like that, you can make it through anything! (how about dividing the office into babies and nonbaby rooms and of course compensation would have to be adjusted for various reasons, mostly because you're a mom....:)

What? American not caring about it's population and in particular children? No! It just can't be.... why, we're such a wonderful country of opportunity.... to empty the treasury..... we care so much for other cultures.... that we go and attack a harmless country to get some oil, and kill its women and children by hiring thugs in black t-shirts.... i'm looking at you blackwater..... and america cares about its citizens because it provides health care and a good healthy environment for it's people... especially children..... even though every most environmental laws have been wiped by the president.... all with a tiny statement he signs on the side saying.... "screw you. i'm gonna do what i want to"... most probably written by his assistant sinc he probably can't spell most of the words.

I just don't understand how we could end up in the bottom 5.
