John Cleese Offers To Write For Obama

Monty Python legend John Cleese is to offer his services as a speechwriter to Barack Obama if he wins the Democratic nomination to become US president, he told a British newspaper out Tuesday.

The British comedian, who lives in California, told the Western Daily Press regional paper that his jokes could help the Illinois senator get into the White House.

"I am due to come to Europe in November but I may be tied up until then because if Barack Obama gets the nomination I'm going to offer my services to him as a speechwriter because I think he is a brilliant man," the 68-year-old said.

I'm not an Obama supporter, but I won't hold this against John Cleese. He is one of the great comedic talents of our time. Fawlty Towers is still my favourite sitcom ever!

John Cleese is a brilliant humorist, and I applaud him for his good taste in politicians, but this damn country has no sense of humor and gods know Obama would be picked apart for not taking the election seriously.
