I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Dream Ticket

The Clinton-Obama so-called "Dream Ticket" may be anything but for Democrats if the latest poll in New York state is to be believed: According to the latest WNBC/Marist Poll, a hypothetical Republican ticket of John McCain and Condoleeza Rice would beat a ticket featuring Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in blue New York state — regardless of which one was president.

According to the poll, McCain/Condi would earn the votes of 49% of registered voters in New York State compared with 46% for a Clinton/Obama ticket, and the same 49% against an underwhelming 44% for an Obama/Clinton ticket (so much for those Obamicans).

Rice's name was thrown into the ring this past Sunday by Republican strategist Dan Senor, who told a roundtable on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that Rice was "actively campaigning" for the V.P. position. Nevertheless, Rice has not asserted any sort of candidacy, and McCain claimed to have "missed those signals" from Madame Secretary of State. However, New York state voters apparently received them loud and clear. (So, too, did conservative activist Grover Norquist, whose Wednesday-morning D.C. breakfast meeting Rice addressed, in what Senor took to be an example of the aforementioned active campaigning. Said Norquist to the Washington Post: "She hit it out of the ballpark.")

If Rice doesn't want the gig, however, Dems can be slightly cheered that they'd beat out a McCain ticket with Connecticut Senator/former Democratic V.P. contender Joe Lieberman on board: Clinton/Obama would take them 53%-40%, and Obama/Clinton would take them 49%-45%.

Outside of the "Dream Ticket," McCain would do well in New York, despite its true-blue roots: Clinton would beat him a scant 48-46%, and he'd turn the tables and beat Obama by the same scant margin in that match-up. Keep in mind that this is Hillary Clinton's home state as Senator, but also keep in mind that it's New York. Yikes.

DEMOCRATS' "DREAM TICKET" IS A NIGHTMARE AGAINST McCAIN/RICE IN NEW YORK

Both are sick thoughts.

McCain can't remember the facts. Condi has shown in both her WH appointments that she in incompetent. Her best moment in the press was when she showed up somewhere in those stiletto boots. She may be very intelligent, but she should go back to academia.

Obama/Clinton is NOT a dream ticket. Neither one is running for VP. Should Hill win, any VP will be third in line after Bill. Should Obama win, I doubt he would want those two interfering and trying to take control.

Please stop. You're giving me nightmares.

If John McCain and Condoleeza Rice can beat any Democratic ticket that includes one, or both, of Obama and Hillary Clinton - then we Americans are truely screwing ourselves the rest of the way into 3rd world status.

If a doddering old war-mongering fool, and a smart but elitist corporatist whore (not in the 'true whore' kind of sense) can win a majority of the voters in this country I am really looking into employment outside of the USA.

We are done - stick the fork in us if this happens.

Condi will be running around Gitmo in her panties and Gucci fhoes singing " Guantanamera".

Where are these phony polls coming from? Somebody's been inhaling Condi's magic mushroom cloud. while the grand old party of chichen-hawks comes home to roost.

And condi's bumper sticker would read like the old Firesign Theater political satire. Compared to John I am "Not Insane". "Vote for me. I am always right and I never lie,"

Obviously the poll was conducted on the Wall Street side of town

To be frank, everyone had better get it out of their friggin minds that Dr. Rice has any future political life, she will spend the rest of it trying to defend herself against war crimes, should she become VP she would have to immediately have to face impeachment charges, without question!

"Keep in mind that this is Hillary Clinton's home state as Senator, but also keep in mind that it's New York. Yikes." Umm, isn't this a state-wide poll, not a NYC poll? Does this writer know that there is a great big state just north of NYC full of lower-middle-class blue-collar workers that comprise Hillary's base?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:44 AM on 04/11/2008

If Clinton's base is only in Upstate New York, how did she win every borough of New York City in the New York Primary? The entire state is firmly more in Clinton's camp than Obama's. Frankly its troubling that McCain is polling anywhere near this close to either candidate in New York (even if the poll is kind of frivolous because it is so far from the general). If the Democrats are in danger of losing New York it kind of refutes Obama's argument that Clinton's primary victories in big blue-states doesn't matter because they will vote for him too. They might not vote for either. The Democrats can not win this election if they don't win New York. They are going to have a hard enough time winning the swing states. If they have to worry about states that they were counting on victories in too then we are screwed.

Any ticket with Hillary as Prez will get clobbered by McCain. I don't know why HuffPo even referred to such a ticket as a "dream team." Considering Obama's insurmountable lead in all categories, I'd call it a nightmare unfolding.

The dream ticket is Obama and anyone he chooses as his running mate. Analyze that one and see if McCain"torture-is-ok."/Rice"How-are-we-torturing-people-today" beats Obama/???.

Except the numbers make it clear (also in PA, OH, etc.) that a ticket led by Senator Clinton does better than a ticket led by Senator Obama.

Unfortunately, his supporters love to win in the spring--and don't care about the fall.

Sheo - so true.

His supporters seem uninterested in the General Election.

Why?

It's a cult mentality.

Personally - I would like to see Obama/Kucinich, Obama/Siebelius, or Obama/Richardson. I could work with Obama/Webb as well.

Obama/Clinton would make me seriously hold my nose, but I would still vote for the combo despite Hillary Clinton's presence.

The Dream Ticket is Obama/Webb or Obama/Hagel. The ticket of Obama/Clinton is a nightmare.

How about Obama/Clark? I think that one is good too, and we get to keep Webb in the Senate.

I doubt tha ticket would be clobbered, but I am more wondering why Clinton would want Obama anymore, after finding out about the corruption he may be deep into with his friend of 17 years corrupt indicted and being tried as we speak Tony Rezko..Obama is dirty,if you want actual change, you don't just say the word and poof it happens , you get busy and make things happen, that is more Clinton, Obama is more just win at all costs no matter how dirty you play...what is it he did again in his state senate job, because Obama only rode his triclicle with training wheels still on into the US senate and was sworn in Jan of 2005..he hasn't even served a full term

I doubt she'd want him either ,anymore .
I used to believe that would be great, but the more we learn about him the less there is to like .

Unfortunately, yes. When the campaign started, I was expecting to be one of Senator Obama's biggest boosters--but I have found that he "doesn't wear well," and that I dislike him more as a politician (obviously, I don't know him personally, so can say nothing about that) with each passing week.

IF he's was as dirty as you're claiming, I'd say he'd fit right in with the Clinton crowd.

McCain/Rice ticket clobbers Obama/Clinton ticket, no surprise there -- replaced Clinton with Webb and I suspect we'll see a different result.

Is the GOP way of trying to win over those angry black voters should Hillary "steal" the nomination??? If this is the case... try again!!!

Contrary to some people's belief, us blacks actually look at a persons stance on issues...we don't just ove off skin color!... she is tied to the biggest criminal that we loathe the most, GW SHRUB and the rest of that motley crew...

I am an Obama supporter, but should Hillary get the nomination, I will gladly cast my vote for her... no questions asked!!!
