I think the scariest thing in Parade is the salary for the pilot who made under 40K a year and the flight attendant making 24K. Yikes!

The difference between a CEO in Europe and a CEO in America is that in Europe the guy can only afford 3 luxury homes and 2 yachts and 5 luxury cars but his employees can afford to drive BMW's
i agree. and the news has been shared on the site SUGAR MOMMY MEET . C o M which is a site for the rich and successful ladies dating young and handsome men.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:46 AM on 04/13/2008

Earned? Or made? Cause hitting a ball or wearing nice clothes or whatever they do, sure isn't earning.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:18 AM on 04/13/2008

I have to agree with you, they don't earn the money they get , some of them have money work hard for them , but the people who earn thier money have to work hard for it.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:04 PM on 04/13/2008

A lot of people are BITTER here.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:13 AM on 04/13/2008

So happy that this is top news when the other half is struggling to put food on the table and trying to come up with the highest of heating fuel ever to heat their homes and then to put gas in the car and struggle all week just to get by. What a great world this is for the rich.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:18 PM on 04/12/2008

Not really. It's always been a crappy world though for lazy, stupid people who cannot adapt to changing economies. Take away incentive and you end up with mediocrity. Socialism is a failed experiment for the last hundred years. Supply and demand rule the economic world, like it or not. If your writing had any demand, you wouldn't be posting here..As it stands, you're just another lefty sided misery merchant...............

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:41 AM on 04/13/2008

And just what resources do you expect those people at or below the median income level to use to pay for the 'adaptation' your idealized "supply and demand" economy requires? Perhaps they should forget about having the smallest luxuries, and focus instead on saving for exorbitantly priced education to keep their 'marketable' skills up-to-date. After-all, a human has only one purpose in your idealized capitalistic world; to serve as a worker bee so that globalist billionaires and their soulless lackeys (you) can make more money to waste on mindless consumption.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:05 PM on 04/13/2008

That is moronic reasoning at best. Guess you'll be happy when the next jet you are on crashes because the airlines overpay their CEOs, but can only find young, mediocre pilots willing to take 35K a year.
What exactly is the incentive for a good pilot to take a job that pays squank?

I agree that people must adapt to changing economics, but why don't you tell the United pilots who are in their late 60s to stop being lazy and stupid and get another job when United sold out their retirement out from under them.

If being on the left means that I expect large corporations to pay the same amount of taxes that I do, then I'm way left.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:56 AM on 04/13/2008

Scarlett Johansson is the only one I want to hang out with. I don't need to spend her money.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:39 PM on 04/12/2008

All dericulously, overpaid, especially Opra.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:56 PM on 04/12/2008

I'm just curious, but what the hell does Oprah do for 260 million dollars?
As far as I can see, she's a totally useless person.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:40 PM on 04/12/2008

Well, let's see. She owns Harpo Productions which produces her show EVERYDAY, owns a piece of Dr Phil, produces Broadway shows, movies and other TV shows including that new give-away-to-charity show. She also owns and regularly contributes to Oprah Magazine. She recently BOUGHT the Discovery Health Channel and is developing a TV show about health/medicine with and for Dr. Oz. She also financed a school for girls in Africa. She has helped millions of people with weight, self-esteem, domestic violoence and personal growth issues. She's enormously philanthropic and works to fight, worldwide genital mutilation, land mines, AIDS and other causes. Now, what was the question?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:55 AM on 04/13/2008

She's helped "millions" of people? Really? Somehow I doubt that watching her babble and cry on TV has cured millions of people of anything.
As for her charity, kudos, but then again, she certainly can afford it, and I'm sure it gets accounted for at tax time.
IMO, she's an 'entertainer' of the lowest form. She's right up there with Martha Stewart and Jay Leno in the 'turning nothing into something' category.
Oprah, a hero to the do-nothing, trophy-Mommy crowd.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:47 PM on 04/13/2008

the do nothing, trophy-mommy crowd? wow.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:55 PM on 04/14/2008

I am guessing you're Hillary support.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:50 PM on 04/12/2008

She owns a business.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:17 PM on 04/12/2008

At least eliminate the cap on FICA.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:39 AM on 04/12/2008

No one is screaming about Barry's gal pal making 260m? In one year.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:02 AM on 04/12/2008

why would that matter?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:19 PM on 04/12/2008

over inflated salaries for over inflated egos.... lovely

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:56 AM on 04/12/2008

Dr. Phil?!!!!!!!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:46 AM on 04/12/2008

A ludicrous amount of money for a psychologist with questionable skills and judgement (i.e., B. Spears "intervention.") Effing quack.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:07 AM on 04/13/2008

Dr. Phil made $90 mil? I think I am going to be sick!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:59 PM on 04/11/2008

If you do, Dr Phil can help!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:08 AM on 04/12/2008

No way, I don't want to make him even richer!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:47 PM on 04/12/2008

No he can't. He's a psychologist

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:50 PM on 04/12/2008

Eli's still the cutest one on the list imo...even if it's "only" 11.5 mil.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:09 PM on 04/11/2008

This is what is wrong with our country we. These so called celebrities are making millions, taxpayers are funding ball parks for billionaires to pay millionaires players yet we cannot pay our teachers a decent wage. Give us all some sanity, no I forgot, we are all going to be millionaire celebrities and ballplayers.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:58 PM on 04/11/2008

Exactly. We give the highest salaries to folks who "pretend" and play children's games, and the lowest to those who really make a difference in the world. We should be idolizing our teachers, firefighters, cops and soldiers, and let the court jesters dance for a pittence like they used to.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:19 AM on 04/12/2008

It seems to me that there is a huge distinction between what people were paid and what they "earned."

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:26 PM on 04/11/2008

It would be nice to see what they actually paid in taxes.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:16 PM on 04/11/2008

Until someone comes up with a better idea.....Tax them...tax them...and then tax them!!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:08 PM on 04/11/2008

The difference between a Socialist and a Communist is one says, "Make the rich pay!" The other says, "Make the rich pay their fair share!" The gap is getting worse than obscene; you'll know we've reached the point of no-return when the only things you can buy are either 'way out of reach' expensive or 'made-in-china' cheap.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 08:49 PM on 04/11/2008

How many people on that list have an IQ that barely exceeds (or may be lower) the number of millions they earned? It is a sad commentary on what Americans value.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:39 PM on 04/11/2008

especially that "dr." phil"!!!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:01 PM on 04/11/2008

Gotta love America! I went to school and I am still NOT rich ! What gives?

Really I see why a lot of young kids think that education is unimportant. Folks like 50 cent can make millions with a 10th grade education I am sure they think Why not me too.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:21 PM on 04/11/2008

exactly. really sad state of affairs.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:50 PM on 04/12/2008

The rich are getting richer. The poor are getting poorer. There's got to be SOMETHING we can do, other than increase taxes on the wealthy.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:08 PM on 04/11/2008

Tax all corporations. No loopholes.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:08 PM on 04/13/2008

Why not tax the rich? Close all the tax loopholes and implement an extremely progressive taxation scheme. Don't tax anyone below the poverty line, tax everyone making more than one or two million a year at 75%. Couple that with increases in welfare spending, better unemployment and job retraining programs and policies, universal healthcare...

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:13 AM on 04/12/2008

Very good Idea, with one excetpion, I would cut the 75% to 50% other wise sounds great.
