'American Idol' Judge Paula Abdul Cancels Live 'Today' Performance

Paula Abdul has backed out of a live performance on the "Today" show:

The "American Idol" judge, who hadn't performed live in years, has cancelled her April 25 live concert, part of the show's annual Summer Concert Series. She'll be replaced by Alicia Keys on April 21.

"Paul Abdul is no longer part of 'Today's' concert series at this time, however, she is always welcome at 'Today,' NBC said in a statement yesterday.

Abdul's representative did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this year Abdul performed "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" as part of the pre-Super Bowl programming. Despite appearing live, the routine had been pretaped.

The Today show have called me....I would have lip synced one of her songs just like she would have...maybe her knee hurts or something....but you can lip sync from a stool....oh i just don't know why she would cancel.......maybe it's because she CANNOT SING LIVE!!!!! or is it just me?

So what if Paula does not want to do live on Today show. Just like anything else some people like her and some don't. Maybe the people that don't like her prefer rap? or Bluegrass? It makes no real difference. She is liked by many and good for her. Personally I know nothing about her past and her music.

Paula has been able to stretch this period of "limit to no talent" for as long as it can go. I am so surprised that she has been able to make a simi-successful musical career stretch to the point where she has had TV programs dedicated to her as a celebrity. She was lipsyncing in the video snippet and I guess she would not be able to do the same on Today. Their concert series seems to be more of a "live" concert rather than a prerecorded one. She can barely sing. I am very ashamed to say that I have the cassette of her first album 10,000 years ago and I still wonder what I saw in her to buy it!!!!

It Boggles my mind of how she can be judging a on a show that would have kicked her off after the 2nd round. She funny, she cute and all that, I get it trust me. But it's really insulting to have her judging people who BLOW her away when it comes to raw talent.

Trust me I'm old compared to the people on IDOL. In fact I come from a time when people wrote their own songs....oh my what a concept...and I come from a time people didn't lip sync at live show....oh my another wacky thought....a time that if you made a mistake it was part of the experience of the show....oh my...i must be losing my mind....Paula does none of these things...and when I say blow away...I mean the 6 kids left on that stage each blow "Paula" away in pure vocal talent...that's a fact as the sun will rise tomorrow. LANDMINE my qualifications is being in the entertainment field for over 20 years....but at the end of the day...real performers but their balls out there and take risks...Paula does none of this...Raw talent is Debbie Harry, Heart, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin etc.....Balls, risks!!!!!!

Paula Abdul is both an excellent singer and dancer as witnessed by her multiple gold albums and the fact that when her latest video was released on ITunes it was the number one video download. Some performers have issues with performing live and Paula is obviously one of them but that does not take away from her talent.

Paula can be a little flaky, but she's paid her dues. She taught Janet Jackson how to dance, had six number one singles, and three number one albums. Her videos were staples of MTV and VH-1, and my daughter and all of her friends wanted to be her at one time. She's still cute as hell, and she can dance her ass off, as far as the singing it's not any worse or better than anything else out there right now. It's all processed shit.

It's looks like it's inappropriate for either.

The mark of true talent is the ability to perform LIVE, over and over again. Even Celine Dion knows that, and she has clearly been sent from Hell to corrupt those who hear her excruciating, yet Siren-like vocal musings.
