Chris Matthews appeared on "The Colbert Report" last night in his hometown of Philadelphia, where there is much speculation over whether he will run as a Democratic candidate for Arlen Specter's senate seat in 2010.

Chris neither confirmed nor denied the reports but told Colbert, incredibly earnestly, "Did you ever want to be something your whole life, besides this? When you grow up, some kids want to be a fireman. I want to be a Senator. But I have to deal with these things as they come. ... There's a difference between being a celebrity and someone who works for the people. And it's a greater thing to work for the people than being on television."

I'll be contributing 10% of my salary to whoever is running against that creep of a Matthews. He is the most dangerous man on TV. A real gang banger responsible for the rape of Hillary's reputation.

Please consider getting in late for 2008, Tweety! We can't be rid of you soon enough!

I am assuming he meant a state senator in the Oklahoma Legislature?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:47 AM on 04/16/2008

He was referring to the Arlen Spector seat in PA.

Chris Mathews sounds bitter and out of touch.

Who else is running?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:03 AM on 04/16/2008

I for one would not miss his drooling loud voice on the airwaves. In soundbites and short interviews it would be much easier to take.

Watching Mathews commiserate with Pennsylvanians by the hurt caused by Obama's "bitter" remarks was really heart wrenching to see. You could see the empathetic pain in every fiber of his body.

Matthews is finished with Hillary. He's now focusing on Obama. When he's through with him, McCain will be left. McCain will try to preserve Matthews' tax breaks. Follow the money!

He is too wishy washy, and not consistent. He kissed up to Obama, Kissed up to McCain, and will kiss HRC ass too, Typical politics with him, lets move on!

I would move back to Philadelphia just to not vote for this destructive blow hard

Same here, I'm packing a bag just in case.
Not sine Al D'Mato was running in NY & sent me a plea for dough, have I had such a good laugh.
Granted, MSNBC has become a joke what with all the Hilary bashing, but Senator Matthews? There havae to be some limits beyond which we will not sink.

I don't live in Pennsy but I would consider voting for Chris Mathews.

Well, whatever state you live in, invite him to go there. We already had Rick Santorum. That was enough hot air for one lifetime.

A Senator? Last week he wanted to be a fireman, the week before that a streetcar conductor, and the week before that a cowboy.

Oh the things little children say!

Senator Matthews. Now THAT'll make Pennsylvanians bitter (or embarrassed).

The Senate is a far better place for an idealistic blowhard than an anchor's chair. At least people know to not trust politicians. We still want to trust our newscasters.

Jesus, Chris Matthews as a Senator, WHAT? The man never shuts up while never allowing his guest to finish a sentence. Personally I find that one huge ugly egotistical trait. With that said and with his trait being one of rudeness, he should fit in quite nicely as a Senator.

Tweety smells that Russert'll never leave Meet the press until he's 100 years old, so change of the plan! Plus he wants to be close to President Obama. Can you blame him for feeling "something coming down on his leg" when he hears Obama's speech?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:40 PM on 04/15/2008

Nope he wants to be a republican like his congressman brother.

The only surprise in this - is that the slobbering hack would run as a Democrat.
Why does anyone give this maggot any ink - he is a bottom-feeder and a punch line.

We actually used to watch his show frequently, because his modus operandi is to suck you in with some seemingly likeable, if not fully honest, reporting and guests, but we finally caught on to his bait and switch "stratagery" of "reel in the suckers" with some hope of validation for our concerns, then, just when he's got his "captive audience," he morphs into Hyde the spittling neoCON promoter spouting his frankly manic adoration for things Cheney, Bush, Delay and has Tony Blankley, Ann Coulter and Pat Buchanon on to further demoralize us with their special brand of schizoid propaganda. We have Faux noise and MSNBC blocked( but unblock with our pin for K.O.), rarely tune in CNN and now get informed online.

When hell becomes an official state, and a red one at that, Matthews would make the perfect senator to represent it

How can you have an ounce of respect for a clown who gave the current White House Idiot a free ride for seven years?

Obama did a show with Chris Matthews last week on his "College Tour" series. Wake up and smell the bitter coffee.

And Michelle Obama will be on Colbert this week. These people aren't afraid of anything, they're just busy campaigning with real people instead of celebrities. They weren't pandering to country music "stars" this week, either.

"Chris Matthews Tells Colbert: "I want to be a Senator."

Let's just hope that no where among the 50 states, is there any state in which +50% of the voters would think this was a good idea.

I used to wonder if Matthews was crazy.

I no longer wonder.
