Tancredo Pope

Denver Post:

As thousands packed into a Washington, D.C., stadium to see Pope Benedict XVI, U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo attacked the pontiff for statements about immigration.

Tancredo, a Littleton Republican, accused the pope of welcoming illegal immigrants to the U.S. in order to build membership in the church.

I can't help but find Tancredo hilarious. His brain, such as it is, ought to be pickled and studied by the most distinguished neurologists and historians. When he's finished not-using it, that is.

Some impresario ought to produce a Wild Politics Show, like the Wild West Shows of yore. Tancredo could be showcased as a perfectly preserved specimen of the original Know-Nothing movement of the 19th Century.

And during his performance, he could shill for the Gents Only Adult Exhibit-- where they have a reproduction of the secret tunnel connecting the rectory and the convent, and some nuns of ill-repute to populate it.

Yes, I realize that with all we now know from Modern Science, that the Tancredo is a toxic critter with a previously-underestimated capacity for doing harm. But I have to thank him for the amused nostalgia he elicits when resurrecting Old School nativist prejudices. He's almost better than Hal Holbrook in "Mark Twain Tonight"!

All ILLEGAL ALIENS should be deported, those who hire ILLEGALS should be heavily fined, and we should return to the original intent of the 14th amendment and do away with anchor babies. All ILLEGALS should practice their own religions in their own country.

Mr Tancredo has valid points. The Pope is here not to save souls but to repair the image and increase the membership of the Catholic Church.

Thats why The Pope is meeting with Republicans only in New York City.

He is in a meeting with GOP activists where McCain and Bush are invited and neither The House Speaker or the Senate Majority Leader not either Democratic Candidates for President.

The Pope has endorsed the GOP by his actions.

Now, in all fairness, the Pope should get to ask Mr. Tancredo a few questions.
How about, “Why do you support an openly criminal administration that illegally spies on its own citizens and brought unprovoked war and chaos to another sovereign nation?”
Or maybe, “What is your reaction to the reports that the highest ranking officials in this administration may be charged as war criminals?”

Or even, "Why do you hate Mexicans so much?".
As I understand it, God is against hate, so that question should be right up the pope's alley.

Did Tancredo say anything about Mexicans?

OTOH, if it's okay with you for the Govenment of Mexico to ship 10% of its excess population here, would it be okay for China and India to send 10% of their excess population here too. That would only be 200,000,000 more people (not to mention their family members that would follow).

The pope shouldn't welcome Mexicans to the U.S. in order to build the church.
America, Inc needs them to build other stuff.
