Scroll down for Barack Obama's response to Bill Clinton's "race card" comments:

In a radio interview posted Monday, Bill Clinton claimed that Barack Obama's campaign has "played the race card on me." (Scroll down for audio). According to ABC News, Clinton was

"talking to station WHYY about the fallout over his comparison of Obama's South Carolina primary victory with the support of black Democrats to Jesse Jackson's primary wins. Those comments were portrayed by critics as an attempt to highlight Obama's race."

Clinton told the interviewer that "you have to really go some to play the race card on me." Clinton then lists the reasons why no one should portray him as a racist. He includes the fact that he has an "office in Harlem, and Harlem voted for Hillary, by the way." He goes on to say, "I have 1.4 Million people around the world, mostly people of color... on the world's least expensive AIDS drugs...."

At the very end of the interview, when Bill thinks he is no longer on the line, you can hear him saying, "I don't think I should take any shit from anybody on that, do you?"

Listen to the interview below:

Update: Obama was asked about Clinton's comments on WHYY today:

The Politico has the full exchange:

"Hold on a second, so former president Clinton dismissed my victory in South Carolina as being similar to Jesse Jackson and he's suggesting that somehow I had something to do with it? Ok, well then you better ask him about it," Obama said.

He was asked if, as Clinton said, his campaign had a secret plan to use race.

"Was there something that we had a plan to get him to say that my campaign was like Jesse Jackson's? I don't know what he is referring to unfortunately," he said, laughing.

Update: Questioned about the comments later in the day, Bill Clinton denied making them, and castigated the media for making hay over the issue. "I'm not going to play your games," he said. Full transcript below.

NBC/NJ: "Sir, what did you mean yesterday when you said that the Obama campaign was playing the race card on you?"

CLINTON: "When did I say that, and to whom did I say that?"

NBC/NJ: "On WHYY radio yesterday"

CLINTON: "No, no, no. That's not what I said. You always follow me around and play these little games, and I'm not going to play your games today. This is a day about election day. Go back and see what the question was, and what my answer was. You have mischaracterized it to get another cheap story to divert the American people from the real urgent issues before us, and I choose not to play your game today. Have a nice day."

NBC/NJ: "Respectfully sir, though, you did say ..."

CLINTON: "Have a nice day." [continues shaking hands with supporters]. I said what I said, you can go and look at the interview. And if you'll be real honest, you'll also report what the question was and what the answer was."

NBC/NJ: "They asked you if you regretted your comparing Jesse Jackson to Barack Obama on the day after the South Carolina primary."

CLINTON: "And I pointed out that I did not do that, and that I complimented them both. And that Jesse Jackson took no offense. And I called him myself, I said, 'Did you find that offensive?' And he said no.

Obama might be wise to go straight to Indiana, start running against McCain, and ignore Hillary entirely. He's wasted too much time on a person who can't win and can only gum up the works with her overheated rhetoric.

Right there in the audio, he says "They pulled the race card on me." How in the world can he then turn around and deny it??? He really is losing it.

Reading all the nasty, irrational, unfounded paranoid fantasies of the Clinton haters on this board reminds me of reading the American Spectator. The unintelligent drivel is very comparable.

Reality check: Bill Clinton was the most popular, most successful president since WWII and gave the country the best eight years in its history, so STFU.

"Regardless of what Obama says or does the majority of blacks will vote for Obama."

FACT. Before South Carolina, the majority of blacks were supporting Hillary.
FACT. During both his presidential campaigns, the majority of blacks voted for Bill Clinton.
FACT. For the past 40 or 50 years, when white Democrats win general election campaigns, it's because the majority of blacks have voted for them.
FACT. Regardless of what Hillary says or does, the majority of whites are voting for her.

So...What exactly is your point, buckeye?

Why 90% black people vote for Obama? what Bill said is true
Why black people have right to be racist? Rev Wright said a RACIST thing and people said: " look at the context!!"
They are not a king!!! why black people can be RACIST? They are not a king.
Or because Huffingtonpost, MSNBC, CNN are all HYPOCRISY

Many women vote for Hillary, so does that make them racist? Besides Rev. Wright's remarks were not racist. To discuss the racism that has afflicated America is not racist, rather the racism itself was.

When the conversation turns to this kind of low you
know someone has rolled their train right off the track
into incredibly ignorantville.

Uh, "They are not a king." Which I take to mean if
black people were kings--- they could be racists?!

I weep for any rational discourse if "supposed" democrats
post this kind of thing--but maybe you were tired; to say
nothing of delusional . . .

"what Bill said is true"

The operative word is "true", dumamay. Forget the race card -- the point is that Bill Clinton lied about a lie once again.

Pres. Bill Clinton is right, the Obama campaign circulated a 4-page memo right after his wife won the New Hampshire primary, well before he said anything about South Carolina. Here it is. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/12/obama-camps-memo-on-clin_n_81205.html

This is a stellar example of how the mainstream media, which found out about this memo two months ago (at HuffPost, as a matter of fact), has a sudden case of amnesia about it now. Why are these huge press outlets engaged in such bias treatment of the Clintons? Answer that question, and you'll understand what's really going on in this election. For more on the manipulation of the primaries, see the article I've posted at thecityedition.com.

i read this memo. so? this is pointing out all of the clinton campaign comments. it doesn't ever use the term "race card" and it simply presents their comments with sources. hillary jumped on obama's "bitter" comment and she had a right to. that's what campaigns do. she has had plenty of feminists out on the trail accusing obama of running a sexist campaign. This memo, points out things that they did. Nothing in it is not true, the opionion was formed that race was being played, based on all of these issues.

I have not paid too much attention to Ford, but Scarborough is awful. Who can look at the giant, smug face as he labels other's elitist all day? He would not give the average guy a minute of his time. What a hypocrite!

Poor Bill. I never liked the guy, but now . . . . I just feel sorry for him. This is so sad, to see him ruin himself like this. All his hopes of getting it on in the Oval Office again are gone . . . . "Like tears, in the rain."

What is really scary, is that he looks a lot like McInsane when he gets angry. The vide of McInsane being angry at a reporter in his plane, looks almost exactly at Billo getting mad at this reporter.
And we are concerned about McInsane in the White House? Mmmmmm, something to ponder.
