Karl Rove, White House Surface In Rezko Trial

Chicago Tribune:

More bombshells were lobbed in the Antoin "Tony" Rezko trial even before the jury was seated this morning and they involved a purported attempt to pull strings with the White House to fire U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald. In a hearing before court began, prosecutors said they hoped to call Ali Ata, the former Blagojevich administration official who pleaded guilty to corruption yesterday, to the stand.

Assistant U.S. Atty. Carrie Hamilton said she believed Ata would testify to conversations Ata had with his political patron, Rezko, about working to pull strings to kill the criminal investigation into Rezko and others when it was in its early stages in 2004.

"[Ata] had conversations with Mr. Rezko about the fact that Mr. Kjellander was working with Karl Rove to have Mr. Fitzgerald removed," Hamilton told U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve.

You have this thing that tanked Gonzales for firing career prosecutors where he would not honestly answer Congress' questions.

You have these allegations against you coming out of AL about the former AL Governor jailed for trumped up charges.

Now, you have this allegation concerning Rezko. What are you going to say about this career prosecutor.

If Democrats engage in smear, maybe they will say that you have so many allegations of wrong doing that you need to just serve time.

Of course Rove's name had to come up in this case. He's so busy digging up dirt on his enemies, he's got to cover his tracks somehow. You know, Rove reminds me of a mob hit-man. As much as I hate his ass, I wish he'd get caught one of these days, make a deal and rat everyone he's been working for out! I'm sure he'd be the Heidi Fleiss of Washington. There would be a lot of characters both on the right and the left who's knees would be shaking...Hillary Clinton being one of them.

You can almost bet that he's got something over everyone's head, this guy.
