Miley Cyrus' Vanity Fair Hit: Record Traffic For VF.com

File under "ya think?": The hubub over Vanity Fair's not-exactly-naked Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana photos generated record traffic for the Conde Nast pub's Web site.

The kinda-scandal broke over the weekend, and picked up steam on Sunday night, when the New York Times weighed in on this important story. That pushed the magazine to push up the Web publication of its own story and accompanying 18-slide slideshow earlier than it had planned, says executive online editor Michael Hogan. But that alone was enough to generate 365,000 page views that night; VF.com generally gets aroud 100,000 page views a day, he says.

i guess she has displaced hitchens as vanity vair's attraction for "with-it" young teens. it's cruel. usually you only get a couple of years in this business and hitchens has hung on longer than most

Um, no. You might want to look up photographer Annie Lebowitz on Wikipedia. You'll see she caters more to the rich and famous. MOST of her pics are rock stars, celebrities, and the Uber-rich.

How sad. Is this what passes for feminism in 2008- women continuing to seek approval through physical attractiveness and seduction? These pics could have come straight out of the 1950's, if they didn't involve a KID. However, this young lady shouldn't be embarrased- the adults involved should be. Older women should advise (protect?) younger women to find their self-worth in achievements based on personal accomplishments and intellect, not the ephemeral quest for youth, beauty and physical "attractiveness". Not to mention the fact that if these photos had turned up at a drugstore film developer, someone would have had some explaing to do.
