Chicago friends of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Barack Obama say both men are simply sad following a controversy and eventual falling out that came to a head Tuesday. Just how did the battle of wills play out behind the scenes?

CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports Obama felt betrayed and Wright felt sand-bagged. Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church said he has been speaking to both men as the events of the past 24 hours unfolded.

So, they are sad because they were publicly discovered as being frauds.

Yes, that is sad, except we are talking about the POTUS!

Get a grip. The Presidency is serious business and this should have been vetted a year ago. Between this blow up and the foreign relations disasters the Obama campaign created (before he was even President) people must take notice that he would be disastrous as President.

He has only unified the far left of the Democratic Party and has never given anyone a tangible reason to vote for him as opposed to against someone else.

Typical politician, of course. Inexperienced Obviously.

Stop the Insanity!

A jury found hillary clinton's pastor, Rev. William Procanick, guilty of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Where is the MSM coverage???????

You are an idiot. This Pastor Procanick felon was from Clinton, NY. So, he's "the former Clinton pastor" because his church was in Clinton, New York. No connection to Senator Hillary Clinton.

Good Lord.

You got it...OBAMA used the Reverend and the congregation of this church to get to where he is...

OBAMA has no moral center, "remember the racist Grandmother" he will say anything and do anything to move himself ahead.

The Congregation should come out and destroy OBAMA....he is a hypocrite

Face it, this is the "American Way" If you want to reach the top of the dung pile, many believe you need to lie, cheat, steal, deceive and destroy everyone. That includes friends and family. Just think , when all this started with Wright being and released to the media by the Clinton camp to be used as a tool to bring Obama down, Obama said Wright had been like his father since he was young, and he was like a family member. Now, Obama is shoving a knife into his "fathers " back because he thinks it will help him reach the prize. Showing he is just as much a true politician like Hillary and McWar. Do , say, destroy whoever , as long as you can justify it with greed.

I don't believe it. From what I've read Wright is devoted to Obama and Obama is devoted to Wright. I don't believe this "split." It's being played this way for now as a political maneuver. I don't trust either one of them. Time will tell.

I'm sure that they have.

Foresaken anyone?

Obama with pay a price within the religious community for using, then disposing of, an individual that likely contributed greatly to the political position he now enjoys.

If you think the last few days were bizaar, wait he until folks read Wright's book.

I suspect it will find its way to our bookshelves shortly after Obama's proposed nomination.

Michelle will regret blackmailing the nation with that America it's a one shot deal only bullshit.

Don't let that door.............you know the rest.

When I heard Michelle make that "threat" of "only one shot" is when she lost me. She's a little full of herself, isn't she? They seem to have her under more control now and she is more careful of what she says but she's already done a lot of damage that will come back and haunt Obama if he gets the nomination.

So you don't like Michelle because she would not want to put her family through this grueling process again? She would put her family ahead of political ambitions and this is why you don't like her? Some of you people just make me sad.

You do your Namesake proud. We get Chimpy Bush all because that egomaniac can't tell the difference between a Democrat and a Republican. Thankfully, ever since then the only sound you hear after Nader speaks is the crickets chirping. His only visibility in this year's campaign came the day he announced, and not a peep since. Barely got a mention in the press, even then.

And, as much as I don't like Nader for his role in bringing us Chimpy, I doubt he'd condone the kind of ignorant, barely literate drivel you type. But then again, I see you're still talking about WMD as if we might find 'em any day now.

I get it -- you're a Neo Con-Artist, hoping Nader will hand another election to the Repugs. That fits perfectly with your Mosque comment. Were you dropped on your head a lot as a kid? Slack-jawed, drooling morons like you are good for a laugh, though.

You keep posting, we'll all keep laughing.

May 1, 2008 -- CHICAGO - Some parishioners at the United Church of Christ are so steamed by Barack Obama's condemnation of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright that they say the presidential hopeful might want to find another place to worship.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Obama should have found another church 20+ years ago, if he had good judgement. Oprah did. She left Trinity after only 2 years.

Obama is nobody without Wright. Wright taught him and Obama honors Wright's philosophical view on what Obama stands for on his popular book "Audicity of Hope". Disown him now, is like rejecting everything you learned from your master sort of like popular movie "Star Wars" Jedi master and Apprentice's connection. XD

have you actually read audacity of hope? I don't think he even mentioned him in the book other than borrowing the title from one of his sermons

Then maybe he should. Where is the forgiveness? where is the spirit of reconciliation? I would gladly leave a church if that's how members felt, however, I don't think they all feel that way. Obama has been above higher ground this whole race and now he defends his position, all of a sudden his own folks want to kick him out. The church has a horrible record on leaving it's wounded. What the church should do is pray, fast, come together to unify what division has been caused, regardless who caused it. The real enemy is the devil, so church folks should know, our fight is not against flesh and blodd, but against prinicipalities, rulers of evils, etc. Rev Wright spoke his mind. Obama spoke his mind, who are we to say either one is wrong or right? They both felt they had to do what they had to do, the real issue is what do we do now? Do we continue to encourage the split or do we press on and find some common ground to repair the breach? It's up to each one of us. History is about to made and I am glad to be a part of it. So why not try to do what Obama has been emphasizing all along, change. Yes it's difficult, and yes it's hard, but yes we can "Change".

you're right Gma and clearly you read the article unlike some of these folks.

Even if Obama's intent in joining the church was to get the inside track on the community he was new to so what. I believe him when he said he found Christ there and I believe him when he says he's saddened and angry with the way things went down with Wright.

Now can we please concentrate on the issues that are really facing Americans?
