Rachel Maddow has never made her sexual orientation an issue. When I listen to her, I hear well reasoned arguments from an intelligent person, capable of making her point. But John Gibson is not very intelligent, so he assails the airwaves, hoping to undercut insightful discussion by distracting his listeners with sophomoric remarks we might expect from a junior high kid.

Gibson is a boob. Anyone who knows anything about debate knows that you reduce your opponents' arguments to absurdity by attacking what they say, not by calling them names. And anyone who listens to Gibson's show has such a short attention span as to be easily distracted by him.

I agree 100%. Calling Rachel a lesbian is akin to calling her a woman. Gibson cannot think of anything substantive (because nothing exists) to make his point, so he needs to resort to this. Rachel Maddow is the most intelligent and insightful person in the media I have heard in a very long time.

Gibson, like myself and many others, resents the fact that Maddow, like most lesbians and gays in the media or entertainment, insist on wearing their sexuality on their sleeves. They're right in your face with it. And we're not supposed to notice? It defines them. I applaud Gibson for giving her a taste of her own medicine. Whether you like it or not, homosexuality is, and always will be, taboo in our culture. Live with it.

Dr. Maddow offers a clear, intelligent analysis of the media's obsession with Rev Wright.

John Gibson counters with "Oooh-yummy-lesbians."

Pretty much tells us all we need to know about Gibson, right wing idiocy, misogyny and homophobia.
05:57 PM on 05/06/2008
Clearly you are a woman.
Gibson is lame and not very good and his comment certainly makes that clear.

However, his idiocy was only in saying out load what most men think in private.
And it has nothing to do with misogyny or homophobia.

Clearly you are a man.
And you speak for most men.
What DOES it have to do with?
How about colossal arrogance?
Rachel Maddow is very good at communicating her points, without junior high-school taunts. And I don't care what she does in her private life. We need more women on these shows, period. At least 50-50 composition of the panel, since OVER 50% of the US population is female.
Keep on truckin', Rachel!

These sorts of comments say far more about people like Gibson than they say about the targets of their verbal abuse.

The reason people like Gibson keep saying vile things like this, is that these vile things and far worse are no doubt simply reflective of the dark snakes that constantly run around in their twisted little minds.

They are selfish, hateful people, who truth be known, even have little but hate and contempt for themselves (and given their character and acts; who could disagree). But in a misguided attempt to ease the pain of their own self-loothing, they constantly lash out at anyone they believe is more vulnerable, the twisted mentality of cowardly bullies and fascists.

Pray that these people never have any real power in this Nation, and then do all that you can to prevent them from ever having any opportunity to act on their dark visions.

Oh for goodness sakes!!
Talk about self righteous blather!

Your little speech could apply to any one of the threads on Huffpost.

The old baggy-eyed poofter is just jealous because Rachel has a bigger pair than he does.

He's just mad she gets more puss than he does.

Fear not Rachel. Old chicken bag chin thinks that you are newsworthy. I suppose that could be a compliment. I happen to agree with MSF31538. They should bounce him out of there for irresponsible and disrespectful comments like that.

I watched Gibson during that long OJ trial. That was all I could take. He mouths off about people without considering or caring about their feelings. If Rachel is 'gay', then Gisbson is one stupid commentator who should be relieved of his Fox duties of disparagement.

Rachel Maddow is the one bright spot lodged inbetween Pat Buchanan (can I shout any louder or is my hearing aid battery dead?) and Joe Scarborough (the voice of the Redneck Riviera who constantly brings up his undistinghished career as a Representative as a basis for his knowledge of the common man), and the one reason I do not put a parental block on MSNBC. John Gibson is a boorish idiot.

Hang in there, Rachel.

I like Rachel. She's got a brain in her pretty head. She should get rid of the "butchy" hairdo, though.

I'm glad that John Gibson isn't talking about his sex life (if he has one). Just typing that made some of my stomach contents come back up into my mouth. Ewwwww.

John Gibson must have a small wienner. He is too easily intimidated by women.
02:44 PM on 05/06/2008
Faux's demonization of gays is sickening and disgusting. Sooner or later I thought that bunch of cretins would bring up Rachel's sexual orientation and make a big deal out of it. (Of course, the "born again" tinfoil hat crowd will eat this up!) Gibson is one creepy guy.
02:39 PM on 05/06/2008
Too bad for Gibson that he has only a miniscule of the brain particles that Rachel has. If he did maybe he wouldn't make such ignorant comments.

Out of the mouth of babes: "If they don't have it answered, they are obviously a racist". Well, there you go. Thank you.
These creepy talk show hosts should read a little history, eh? P.G. Woodhouse. Ezra Pound. Father Condon. How did the radio careerers of these three end?

I am an old, straight, white, middle of the road Democrat woman, but I think that Rachel is a great commentor and analyst. I think she is very fair to the people and ideas she discusses.
John Gibson???? All I can remember about him is that his hair line grows so low on his forehead it gives me the creeps!

You're right SharonB. She is balanced, fair and quite insightful.
